Oregrown has truly built an incredible space in their newly opened SE Portland home. When I stepped into the shop, my first thought was Patagonia meets craft Cannabis. Beautiful display cases line the floors and an illuminated Pax symbol is one of the focal points of the space. Clothing racks filled with Oregrown’s extensive line of apparel fill the perimeter of the store. The vision for this space was brought to life by Chief Brand Officer Christina, as she wanted to create an old school Portland, rootsy vibe. Oregrown considers all of their stores flagships, as they aim to represent the state of Oregon’s love of the outdoors and craft Cannabis.

PRODUCT SELECTION

The vast array of products available was impressive. Almost every Pax pod cartridge was available, including some tasty in-house collaborations, and an extensive flower menu featuring some of the state’s best growers, including: Evans Creek Farms, Eugreen Farms, Nelson & Co. and Heroes of the Farm, amongst many others. Various consistencies of in-house live resin filled the shelves, as well as other top notch solvent and solventless extracts from Echo Electuary and Happy Cabbage Farms. The edible selection is just as extensive. Wyld, Wana, Junk, Laurie and Mary Janes, and Mr. Moxey’s are just a few of the top notch edible makers featured.

HISTORY AND VALUES

The original Oregrown location in Bend first opened back in 2015 as a medical shop. The brand and store has grown immensely since then, from expanding their brand and endorsing local athletes, to distributing their single source products all across the state. One of the principles Oregrown Co-Founder/Owner Aviv Hadar holds dearest is being a beacon for quality, as they provide a clean, consciously designed space that curates some of the best Oregon has to offer. The vertically integrated farm and lab are as organic and clean as it gets - cultivating and processing classic, yet flavorful strains.

BUDTENDERS AND SPECIALS

The budtenders working when I stopped in were incredibly friendly and helpful. As soon as I walked in the door, I was greeted by just about everyone in the shop. I was informed about the daily special and was given recommendations on some of their favorite products. Oregrown is currently offering an amazing gesture/ special amidst the chaos of the COVID-19 pandemic : free delivery and 15% off to those 60+ years of age. All Oregrown locations have daily specials, which include vape Monday, tasty Tuesday, dab Wednesday, flower Friday and top shelf Sunday.

Oregrown has one of the coolest dispensary layouts in Oregon. Originally designed by JHL Design, the shop has a topographic feel that almost mimics the terrain of central Oregon. Oregrown DESCHUTES RIVER DURBAN POISON LIVE RESIN

I HAVEN’T had much experience with Pax pods before, so I was excited to dig into this Durban Poison live resin - grown and extracted in-house. The pod/cartridge doubles as the mouthpiece and easily slides into the top of the battery. There are a few default heat settings on the battery itself, however, pairing it with the Pax app via bluetooth allows consumers to change the temperature by degree. As soon as I took a pull, my mouth was coated in lemony and pine forward terpenes, classic Durban Poison. The effects were incredibly euphoric and uplifting, one of the last true sativas. This is a great option for consumers on-the-go who need to stay active and alert while medicating. $36/0.5g | 73.9% THC, 4.5% CBD

Oregrown NOW N’ L8TER COLD FILTERED NECTAR

NOW N’ L8TER is a flavorful cross of Blue Power and Candyland. The blueberry profile dominates the nose up front, followed by a doughy, earthy funk. The sugar wax like consistency packs a ton of flavor without being saturated in terpenes, making it smoother and easier to handle. After sharing a few dabs with a friend, I felt rather relaxed and anxiety free. The flavor profile is all blueberry and grape, definitely reminiscent of a Now and Later or grape Hi-Chew. The effects from the Candyland take the stage front and center by providing a warming body effect that is great for managing pain, quelling anxiety, and falling and staying asleep. $36/g, 78.3% THC
