two friends, Ryan Stahly and Matt Rosado, established Torched Illusions in 2010. Their first location is located off of Tualatin Valley Highway in Beaverton. Ever since the duo has taken over this spot, they continue to improve on the interior layout. “It’s all about the flow, and the experience of the flow,” Matt said. “You can’t have the entrance be too cramped, and people need space to walk around the displays.” glass shop spotlight

Detail and cleanliness are important in the shop. Products are lined up neatly and accordingly on custom black slat-board shelves on the wall. These range from your typical clear glass and glass accessories, to e-liquid, papers and other products. They also have KAWS figures on display and KokoNugz (crispy treats that look like nugs) available for purchase. The middle of the store has three separate showcases - this is where the good stuff is displayed.

“We are focused on building lasting relationships with local glass blowers,” Matt said. Torched Illusions is a strong supporter of the local Oregon glass scene and culture. You can continually find their booth sponsoring Degenerate Flame Off, an annual glass blowing competition based in Oregon. The pieces they bring out on display to sell are next level. Some of the artists that they work with include Darby, Salt, Inkz, Carsten, Annealed Innovations and Niko Cray.

Pieces from these artists and more are displayed in the center of the store in these showcases. Salt’s solo piece from DFO 2018 is currently located at their Beaverton shop!

With time comes growth, and eventually Torched Illusions opened up their second location in Tigard. This location is more of a traditional smoke shop, offering affordable glass, e-liquid, papers, etc. That said, if you are looking for their finest heady pieces on display, check out their Beaverton location. All in all, Torched Illusions is the type of shop that we need more of. As the glass scene becomes increasingly recognized as a legitimate and profitable form of art, we need more shops to connect and establish relationships with local glassblowers.

This support does wonders for our local community and evolves the art into uncharted territories - revealing exceptional glass and revolutionary talent along the way.
