ACADEMIC LIVING COMMUNITIES

ACADEMIC

LIVING COMMUNITIES

Academic Living Communities (ALCs) offer students with similar academic interests the opportunity to connect and learn with one another in a living and learning environment. The communities are designed to ease the transition to college life and provide support for personal and academic growth that encourages our mission of student success. Beginning Nov. 2, you can apply for an Academic Living Community at the same time you complete your housing application in CatPAWS.

7 REASONS TO JOIN AN ALC • ALC students enroll in similar courses • Connect with faculty • Network with employers early • Socialize with people who have similar interests and goals • Learn about career opportunities early • Accessibility to peer mentors in your major

STUDENTS LIVING IN AN ACADEMIC LIVING COMMUNITY RETAIN AT HIGHER RATES THAN THE OVERALL CAMPUS.

“The Natural Sciences living community was exactly what I was looking for.

I made connections easily my first year and had help available from peers and faculty relevant to my major and classes.” PROGRAMS PARTICIPATING IN THE ACADEMIC LIVING COMMUNITIES

of the blended diversities of the populations, with the freshman ALCs as well as the upperclassmen. When we bring the building together for events, the communities mix together, and it’s really cool to see. South also has the best location on campus as it is equal distance to most of the academic buildings.”
