How to LOGIN for the FIRST TIME
For first-time users logging into CatPAWS, your Northwest email or other Northwest systems.
Step 1: Username and Password
Your username and a temporary password will be emailed to you in separate emails from noreply@nwmissouri.edu.
Step 2: Enter your S-number
Logging in for the first time, you will need to set up your northwest email account. Here you will put in your user name (ex. S123456) and the password provided via email, then click sign in.
Step 3: More information required
Since this is your first time logging in, you must provide two-factor authentication. You can do this in three ways:
1. Downloading the Microsoft authenticator app
2. Entering your phone number
3. Entering your personal email account
Step 4: Authentication
We've all had to do this before, follow the prompts and use a non-high school email account. That way you can receive emails from Northwest after you graduate from high school.
Step 5: Email Account Success
You've now successfully entered your Northwest email account. (Great job!)
Step 6: CatPAWS
To choose university housing, apply for scholarships or sign up for orientation you will need to sign in to CatPAWS using your Northwest username and password.
1. Go to CatPAWS
2. Click login/enter secure area
3. Enter your northwest username (ex. S123456). Enter your password.
Step 7: Change your password
Change your password from the temporary password. Passwords remain good for one year. When creating your new password, it must contain:
• 14 characters
• Uppercase letter
• Lowercase letter
• A number

Respond to any request to verify information submitted on the FAFSA.
Register to attend Summer Orientation Advisement and Registration (SOAR) beginning March 1.
SOAR registration includes the advisement intake form. This information is used to create your initial class schedule.
Select your resident hall and room beginning in April.
Complete the Northwest Standard Scholarship Application before April 1.
Review and accept financial aid offer. Merit scholarships are awarded to admitted students. Apply for admission by May 1 to guarantee scholarship awards.
Request final high school and dual credit transcripts be sent to Northwest by recommended date of Aug. 15.
