ORGANIZATIONS ■■ 70% of our students are involved in one or more student organizations. ■■ There are more than 150 student organizations to choose from, ranging from student government to Greek life, multicultural groups to academic clubs.
ATHLETICS ■■ Athletic events, with the exception of playoff games, are free for all students to attend. ■■ The Bearcats are strong competitors and Northwest’s school spirit will have you seeing green! The Bearcats are part of the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association and are NCAA Division II student athletes. ■■ Women’s sports include basketball, cross country, golf, soccer, softball, tennis, track and field and volleyball. Men’s sports include baseball, basketball, cross country, football, tennis and track and field. INTRAMURALS AND CLUB SPORTS ■■ More than half of the student body participates in intramural programs and club sports. ■■ Activities include basketball, wrestling, table tennis, flag football, softball, volleyball and racquet sports. ■■ The Student Recreation Center features three basketball courts, racquetball courts and equipment for tennis, volleyball, table tennis, badminton and pickle ball. It also includes a suspended jogging track, weight machines and stationary bikes. CULTURAL ENRICHMENT ■■ Big city attractions frequent campus, including internationally known touring groups, distinguished lecturers, famous musicians and comedians. ■■ Musical groups have included the Goo Goo Dolls, Sean Kingston and Dierks Bentley.
Touring performances have included “Hairspray” and “Grease.” Distinguished lecturers have included Maya Angelou and Shawn Johnson. Comedians have included Jeff Dunham and Seth Meyers. ■■ Student talent is showcased throughout the year in vocal, instrumental and theatrical performances as well as art gallery exhibits. GREEN CAMPUS ■■ Last year, alternative fuels generated 47% of campus-wide utility needs. ■■ On-campus recycling includes aluminum, plastic, paper and glass containers. ■■ Recycled glass is turned into sand that is used around campus. Recycled paper is processed into pellets for fueling campus. ■■ Northwest is the Missouri Arboretum and home to more than 1,300 trees. THIS IS THE ‘VILLE ■■ Maryville is a great college town bursting with Bearcat pride. ■■ Maryville is ideally located between Kansas City, Omaha, Neb. and Des Moines, Iowa. ■■ There is always something to do. CAMPUS VISIT OPTIONS
DAILY VISITS (preferred option) Daily Visits consist of a 90-minute walking tour guided by a Northwest Student Ambassador who will share his or her experiences at Northwest. Destinations include academic buildings, classrooms and labs, dining facilities, the library, the Student Recreation Center, a student’s room and, if requested we will do our best to arrange an appointment with a faculty member within your area of interest. Daily tours are offered every hour on the hour from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., Monday through Friday. SATURDAY VISITS Saturday Visits are a great option if you are unable to visit during the week. Take the 90-minute walking tour and check out a classroom, dining facilities, the library and a student’s room. Academic and athletic appointments are not available. Saturday visits begin at 10:30 and 11:30 a.m.
GREEN AND WHITE VISIT DAYS Green and White Visit Days are designed for students who are in the early stages of the college selection process.
