Advertising terms and policies 1. Advertisements may be placed at Northwest Missouri State University’s Student Media Advertising Office at Wells Hall #030, 800 University Drive, Maryville, MO 64468; by calling 660-562-1635 and an account executive will be assigned to service all advertising needs; or by e-mail, nwmadv@nwmissouri.edu by forwarding the ad and mailing the proper payment to the address above. Classified ads may be placed by phone, 660-562-1635; e-mail, nwmadv@nwmissouri.edu; or fax, 660-562-1521. Call 660-562-1635 for further advertising information, but no display advertisements will be accepted by telephone without written approval. 2. The Northwest Student Media Advertising Department can assist an advertiser with all advertising needs including design of the ad, a yearly ad plan, ideas for targeting ads, and ad co-op design. 3. Deadline for display advertisements and inserts is 5 p.m. the Thursday prior to publication. Deadline for classified advertisements is 5 p.m., Monday prior to publication. The advertising manager must receive one copy of the insert one week prior to publication for review. Ready-toinsert copies should arrive at the production plant at least four business days before publication. Send to NPG Printing Co., c/o Northwest Missourian, 1301 South 58th Street, St. Joseph, MO 64507. Full circulation is 4,000 copies. Campus-students only circulation is 2,000 copies. 4. All advertising is subject to acceptance by the advertising manager of Northwest Student Media, which reserves the right to reject copy at its sole discretion at any time prior to publication. 5. Northwest Student Media will not accept an advertisement that is libelous; untrue; promotes academic dishonesty; promotes irresponsible use of alcohol; violates any local, state or federal laws; or encourages discrimination against any individual or group on the basis of race, sex, age, creed, religion, national origin or disability. 6. Advertising using a person’s name, photograph or other likeness must be authorized to run by written consent of the person named or pictured.
7. Clear sponsorship must be shown on each ad. Advertising having the appearance of news must have the word “Advertisement” printed above and be bordered. 8. The advertiser and/or advertising agency assumes full and complete responsibility and liability for the content (including text representations, illustrations and copyrights) of all advertisements printed pursuant to the agreements, and shall indemnify and save Student Media at Northwest Missouri State University harmless against any demands, claims or liability. 9. Northwest Student Media will make all reasonable efforts to see that an advertisement is published as accepted, and that pre-printed inserts are distributed as ordered. However, Northwest Student Media will not be liable for any consequential damages resulting from failure to do so. 10. Advertisers and advertising agencies forwarding insertion orders which contain incorrect rates or conditions are hereby advised that an advertisement called for will be inserted and charged in accordance with the rates and terms of this contract and the Northwest Student Media Rate Card in effect at the time of publication and production. Failure to make an order correspond in price or terms will be regarded as a clerical error and the advertisement will be inserted without further notification. 11. Page position is not sold nor guaranteed. 12. Cancellation of advertising space is accepted until the deadline of space reservation. If an advertiser decides to pull an advertisement after placement has been guaranteed, the advertiser may pay up to 100 percent of the full cost of the advertisement. 13. Proofs will be delivered or sent via e-mail, upon advertiser’s request, for any ad submitted. Deadline for corrections is 2 p.m. the Tuesday prior to publication. 14. Northwest Student Media is not responsible for copy omission, typographical errors or any unintentional errors that may occur in advertisements other than to correct the error in the next issue. 15. Northwest Student Media will not consider adjustment of payment
for any advertisement involving typographical errors of erroneous insertion unless notice is given to the advertising manager within ten (10) days of receipt for the first monthly statement showing the charge in question. Northwest Student Media shall not be held liable for more than one incorrect insertion of any advertisement. 16. Invoices are delivered with a copy of the newspaper by an account executive every week or are mailed at the end of each month with a monthly statement, unless otherwise requested. 17. All statements and/or invoices for advertisements placed with Northwest Student Media are mailed at the end of each month and are due by the 15th day of the following month, unless otherwise requested. Each advertiser and advertising agency will be given a 919#, please include this number with your payment if you do not include the payment stub with your payment. Payments can be made using cash, check, or money order. Payments should be sent to: Cashiering Department, Northwest Missouri State University, 800 University Drive, Maryville, MO 64468-6001.Please note who the payment is for whether it be Northwest Student Media, Northwest Missourian, Tower Yearbook, KZLX 106.7, or KNWT Channel 8. 18. Payment of the full balance is required or the advertiser will pay a 1% per month finance fee on the remaining balance. 19. All new accounts will be required to pay in advance for one trimester (15 weeks) until credit is established. 20. All bar and tattoo establishments as well as politicians and political campaigns will be required to pay in advance. 21. A $25 fee will be charged to the advertiser for each returned check. 22. All accounts 90 days past due will be considered delinquent and will not be extended credit until a significant portion of the balance is paid to either Northwest Student Media, Northwest Missourian, Tower Yearbook, KZLX 106.7, or KNWT Channel 8. 23. Verbal agreements, promises or waivers of any nature not contained in Northwest Student Media Rate Card shall not be binding.
