Doctoral School Examples of the IOE’s Doctoral degrees: • PhD – the traditional research doctorate, lasting between three and seven years. Suitable for those wishing to focus on one specific academic field in depth • EdD – the Doctor of Education (International) degree is a professional doctorate containing a large taught element coupled with research in education • DEdPsy – the Doctor of Educational Psychology is a professional doctorate for those with a background and professional qualification in educational psychology

Scholarships, applications and fees • Centenary Scholarships are currently open – closing date is 16 May 2011 • Other scholarship opportunities also available • Applications are normally completed online through UKPASS • Applicants must normally hold an undergraduate degree and may be expected to have professional experience in education • All students must show original certificates, evidence of their English language skills (IELTS, TOEFL), and two references • Doctoral applicants should complete a research proposal • Updated information on tuition fees available online • Flexible payment arrangements are available Introducing the IOE
