Entry requirements and how to apply Before you apply

Students interested in undergraduate study can apply with their school-leaving qualifications. In most cases good schoolleaving qualifications will be acceptable but if they aren’t acceptable for direct entry you might want to consider a foundation or access programme before applying to Strathclyde. If you have studied for a diploma in your home country after completing your school education, it may be possible to gain advanced entry into an undergraduate degree. UCAS is the organisation that processes applications for full-time undergraduate courses on our behalf. Applications should be made on-line at: www.ucas.com If you are interested in postgraduate study you will need to have a strong first degree from a recognised institution of higher education with a GPA of 3.0 minimum on a 4.0 scale. Applications for PG Masters study are made on-line directly to the University via our website: www.strath.ac.uk/ prospectus/postgraduateapplications/ If you are interested in applying for a research position you should contact the relevant department directly first before applying on-line at: www.strath.ac.uk/prospectus/ postgraduateapplications/ For more information on admissions see: www.strath.ac.uk/studying/prospective/

English language requirements

If English is not your first language you will need to provide evidence of your proficiency in English before you begin your Strathclyde course. Our normal English language entry requirements are 6.5 in the British Council IELTS test and a minimum score of 90 in the internet-based TOEFL (IBT). Some departments require higher scores than these for entry onto their courses. English Language Teaching (ELT) offers intensive courses in English for international students. Pre-sessional and pre-entry English classes are available before the start of the academic year. If English proficiency is in doubt, candidates may be recommended to attend a certain number of modules prior to starting their course. In-sessional English language courses are also offered during the academic year for those wishing to improve language skills alongside academic study. The final month module of pre-sessional English is free of charge for all international students paying fees at the overseas rate. www.strath.ac.uk/elt/
