CREATE A PERMANENT CHARITABLE LEGACY
Bespoke philanthropy that stands the test of time.
Protect the environment, provide opportunities to children, help artists, improve New York. Whatever you choose to support through your permanent fund in The New York Community Trust, you will be remembered as a champion of the causes dear to you.
The future is unpredictable. The New York Community Trust was built for that. Through our deep expertise, sound investment, and careful oversight, we will ensure your charitable gift meets tomorrow’s challenges, as we’ve been doing since 1924.
Whatever your charitable interests, we have a fund for you.
UNRESTRICTED FUNDS provide maximum flexibility to confront New York’s needs—today and tomorrow. We will use your gift to assist effective nonprofits working to address the most pressing problems.
FIELD-OF-INTEREST FUNDS focus on your particular areas of charitable interest, such as hunger, education, or health care. You define the purpose(s) and we find and fund the best nonprofits to advance your philanthropic goals.
DESIGNATED FUNDS allow you to name the charity, or charities, that you want to support. We invest the money, regularly make grants in your name, and monitor these organizations.

Funds can bear your name or that of someone you care about. Recipients are reminded of your generosity with every grant we make from your fund.
Permanent, or endowed, funds can be established today, or through your estate. You can also convert your existing donor-advised fund into a permanent fund.
You can set up a fund with a wide variety of assets. We’re also experts in working with charitable remainder trusts, lead trusts, and private foundations.
The assets of a permanent fund are invested to grow principal while making grants each year. Funds at The Trust range from $5,000 to more than $140 million.
We work with you to articulate a philanthropic strategy for yourfund that achieves your goals today while planning for the future.

Judy Goldring’s brother was born with a brain injury. She created the Jack Goldring Fund in his memory.
Every year, her fund helps effective nonprofits improve the lives of those living with intellectual and physical disabilities.
The Trust used the Goldring Fund to expand a program at CIDA that provides job training to young Asian-Americans with disabilities.
Under New York Not-for-Profit Corporation Law Section 553(b), unless the gift instrument provides otherwise, we may spend from an endowment fund the amount we deem prudent after considering the factors set forth in that statute.
