A Car Show was held at the Norwood Park on

July 31st. Key clubbers helped out Kiwanis with small errands, games, and the concession stand. Going from 10am to 2pm we had 3 key clubbers attend, including myself, and the event was generally very fun. We mainly hosted small mini games for the kids which include ring toss, ball toss, and corn hole bag toss. All very easy games of course, and we gave out candy to anyone who participated. It was nice being able to interact with the kids and even the parents got in on the fun. The three of us would also take turns bringing a poster around the show to advertise for the Kiwanis concession. Although this might seem awkward, it was actually very fun talking with people about not only concession but also the cars and such. It gave us time to see the cars for ourselves and get food as the day progressed. I’ m glad we had the opportunity to help out with this event. Lynbrook High School (Division 7)

For the members of the Lynbrook High School Key Club, service has not paused just because the school year has ended. This summer, the LHS Key Club has continued to help and serve the community. From July 20th to July 22nd, board members, along with other LHS key clubbers helped out at

Sunrise of North Lynbrook, a local nursing home. In connection with the summer games in Tokyo, Sunrise hosted a Summer Olympics for its residents. The nursing home residents signed up to participate in events such as discus, soccer, shuffleboard, swimming, rhythmic gymnastics, and table tennis. LHS senior and Key Club co-president Sophie Ward expressed her excitement: “I love the Olympics and was excited that our Key Club was able to help other people enjoy it as well!” LHS key clubbers attended these events, helping the residents who were participating, setting up the events, and spending time with the residents to keep their spirits up. LHS junior and Key Club editor Alyssa Inserra reflected on the experience, explaining she “ was glad that I could make these people smile, ” mentioning her “favorite part of this experience was seeing all the different residents and staff members truly enjoy the experience in their own special ways; it was a joy to watch. ” LHS junior and co-treasurer Alexi Deninno explained: “After helping out I felt fulfilled after helping make so many people's day better. This volunteer work made me realize how great it feels to give back to others. My favorite part was seeing the senior citizens get excited and cheer for their teammates during each event. ” This school year, the LHS Key Club will continue to serve the community and its members hope to make more people smile along the way!
