Page 2 Thank you for joining us! Your support validates your understanding of the importance of agricultural education for consumers of all ages. We must share our story so that agriculture can function effectively and efficiently, which benefits each and every one of us in our businesses and personal lives each and every day. Our Mission: To inform and educate all New Yorkers regarding agriculture, and to increase understanding between the farm and non-farm public. Our goal is to raise the level of public awareness and understanding about agriculture, which will serve to alleviate misunderstandings that can manifest themselves in negative ways and cause unnecessary upheaval within the food system, superfluous regulations, excess costs, and a breakdown within the infrastructure of our communities and state. This understanding will allow the general public to make “informed” choices. Your investment makes a difference.

Fundraising Feast Raffle Win A framed Childress Print “Man in Training” 12 NY Commodity Collections! + Other donated items
Childress Prints capture memorable moments . About the Ar st The featured artist, Robert Childress, was the illustrator for the Dick and Jane reader primers that were popular in the 1950’s and 1960’s. Childress was born in 1915 in South Carolina. He paid for his Clemson University education by going door to door and offering to paint families’ coat of arms. After graduation he worked for advertising agencies, and during World War II he promoted agricultural and farming products through his illustrations. In 1949 he worked in New York City where he created ads for a number of well-known products, including Coca-Cola, Mobil, Frigidaire, Wonder Bread, Campbell’s Soup, Buster Brown Shoes and many others. A decade later he updated the Dick and Jane reading primers, which were initially published in 1930. Mr. Childress used his children, family and pets as the subjects of his artwork for the series. He was a friend of artist Norman Rockwell, and they both painted in the realism style, with similar shades of humor. He also painted a number of Cornell University scenes and was commissioned to paint the portraits of several Deans at Cornell. He has painted at more than 20 universities. Seven of the New York Farm Bureau paintings are available for purchase as prints. Proceeds support the New York Farm Bureau Foundation for Agricultural Education, Inc.
