Alibaba’s Singles’ Day saw record spending of more than $30 billion, with 1 billion-plus orders delivered. By Nyima Pratten

SHANGHAI — Another year, another Singles’ Day record. Alibaba’s total gross merchandise value for the 24-hour shopping festival this year totaled 168.2 billion renminbi, or $25.3 billion at current exchange.
