In November of 1985, we realized that no one had undertaken the task of putting together the 1986 edition of the New York Law School Yearbook - CAVEAT EMPTOR. We realized that despite the fact that New York Law School is one of the oldest law schools in the state, having a yearbook was not a long standing tradition, as the 1985 edition was the first. We nonetheless set off to put together the second edition of CAVEAT EMPTOR. Beset with missed deadlines, minimal staff and no experience, we put together the best yearbook that we could. We hope that we have been able to capture some good memories and that this yearbook brings you much pleasure and joy now and in the years to come. The Editors
CAVEAT EMPTOR '86
June, 1986 To the Class of 1986: I hope that your years at New York Law School have been a vital period of intellectual growth for you. I know that your years here have been a time of dramatic growth for us as an institution. we move closer to our goal of being the premier urban law school in the country, we will, doubtless, continue to see outward changes in the School's character. One constant, however, will remain: legal education at New York Law School will continue to rest on the rigorous standards .of professionalism that I hope will contribute to your success as lawyers and as leaders of your prospective communities. Your graduation is the beginning of a process of learning that will continue throughout your professional lives. We sincerely look forward to sharing that process of growth with you in the years to come. Speaking for the entire New York Law School community, I extend our very best wishes for the 'future.

INTERNATIONAL LAW SOCIETY Members of the New York Law School International Law Society recognize that in this global community of which we are but a small element, a student must be informed in all aspects of international relations as well as international law. For this reason, the l.L.S. provides a forum for leading practitioners and scholars of International Law. Sponsoring activities such as our speaker series on current legal issues we utilize many local resources. This affords NYLS students varied opportunities to participate in diverse fields of International Law which would not ordinarily be available strictly in a classroom setting. Additional activities include the l.L.S. ANNUAL, which provides students with the opportunity to publish papers and articles on current legal topics, as well as participation in the American chapter of Amnesty International. The l.L.S., which is a member of the Association of International Law Societies (AILS), is responsible for selecting the NYLS Jessup Team which competes in AILS's national Philip C.
