Jasmine Luv Interview by Carol Wright Photos by Tasha Counts
What about creating comedy sketches and posting them on social media appealed to you? I just love making relatable content and bringing ideas to life in a comedic way. It’s also fun to see and read people’s comments when watching my videos. It makes me feel good to know that my videos put smiles on faces.
You went from working in accounting to packing up and moving to Los Angeles. What was the hardest part about pursuing a new career? The hardest part about pursuing a new career was leaving my family. I’m from South Carolina so packing up and moving to the other end of the country was definitely a hard decision. I come from a super close family so leaving them and starting a whole new life in California by myself was definitely hands down the hardest decision I’ve ever made.
Have you always been interested in comedy and acting? Since I was young, I have always had a passion for acting. I would always participate in school plays and I remember it being so much fun! I always enjoyed making my friends and family laugh but I never grew up wanting to be a comedian. I like to say that I fell into comedy on accident.
What got you interested in being apart of “Starter Pack”? What interested me the most about “Starter Pack” was that all of the writers were women. I loved this because you don’t see that as often and that stuck out to me first. Then I read the script and loved it. It was relatable and diverse. The entire cast and crew were amazing and it’s an experience I’ll never forget.
Can you tell us a bit about AT&T Hello Lab and your project “Starter Pack”?
What was your favorite part of filming “Starter Pack”?
I play a girl named Ayana and she is a 25-year-old graduate who has a love for Art. She graduated with her Masters in Art History and wants to curate something meaningful in life but after trying to look for a job for almost a year she’s had no luck. She finally gets hired at a museum, but they want her to curate something she hates the most which are memes. It was a great experience and I had tons of fun on set.
My favorite part of filming was just being around the cast and crew. Everyone was so cool, and we had fun on set! We would all be tired by the end of the day, but we had fun doing it!

#StarPower Can you tell us about any other projects you have on the horizon? Right now I’m focusing on expanding my brand. I am working on merchandise, continuously creating content and auditioning for bigger projects both in the television and film realms.
What other creative outlets do you have besides acting? In addition to acting, I enjoy writing, producing and directing. It wasn’t until I started creating sketches that I realized how much I enjoy writing content. I not only write comedy but drama as well. In the future, I hope to have my own production company, so I can direct and produce my own content.
What advice do you have for those who are interested in becoming content creators? My advice to those that want to become content creators is to just be patient and be yourself. A lot of people put videos out with hopes that it goes viral but you have to remain patient. Continue putting out your content and remain true to yourself. Don’t try to appease your audience thinking that’s what they want to see, because it won’t be authentic. Be patient and be true to yourself.
