ALEXANDRA PENNEY Fractured Botanicals, 2010 Pigment prints on moab fine art archival paper 24” x 24” Estimated Retail Value: $5,000 Alexandra Penney left a highly celebrated career in journalism to resume her earlier career in art. While working with leading photographers Richard Avedon, Irving Penn, and Helmut Newton, at Conde Nast, she decided to change direction by exploring digital photography. Her first New York City solo show, at the Julie Lavin Gallery, focused on large-scale digitally manipulated flowers, which have been a continuing focus of her work. The works she has donated to NYSCF’s Gala depict close-up floral imagery whose saturated colors and diffused forms push the envelope of digital photography’s capacity to convey painterly qualities. Her new series of ghost-like ephemeral portraits were the subject of a solo exhibition at the Jason McCoy Gallery, NY, in 2018, in which the subjects’ barely visible details disappear into the whiteness of the paper. Graciously donated by ar tist

RICHARD DUPONT Biometry 163, 2014 Oil on handmade Indian paper 30” x 22” Estimated Retail Value: $5,000 Richard Dupont’s (b.1968) Biometry Paintings char t the human impulse to trace one’s own presence, first recorded an estimated 30,000 years ago on the walls of the Lascaux Caves. The Paintings are both political and metaphysical, extending the existential gesture into the digital age of biometrics, surveillance, and big data. They derive not from a direct print of the body, but from a digital scan captured fifteen years ago on a military base in Ohio, which mapped the changing nature of the human form. Dupont’s works are included in numerous collections, including The Museum of Modern Ar t, the Whitney Museum of American Ar t, the New York Public Library Print Collection, and the Brooklyn Museum, New York; the Museum of Fine Ar ts, Boston, MA; the Cleveland Museum of Ar t, Cleveland, OH; and many others. In 2014 he was the recipient of the Museum of Arts and Design (MAD) Visionary Award. Graciously donated by ar tist

His work is included in the permanent collections of The Museum of Modern Ar t and The Whitney Museum of American Ar t, New York, NY and The San Francisco Museum of Modern Ar t, San Francisco, CA among other notable public institutional collections. A central subject in Newsom’s broad visual iconography is the large cat, a “beast” as the artist refers to it. Newsom is a painter of allegory, whereby a visual depiction of a thing might represent the mood or feeling of another. In this work for NYSCF, Newsom has created an original charcoal drawing of a tiger eye, titled Moment of Truth. Newsom says, “The image implies strength and is symbolic of earnestness. In facing challenges in life, one must rise above the current obstacle with focus and faith.” He has recently held solo exhibitions at Contra Gallery, Ljubljana, Slovenia and Brintz Gallery, Palm Beach, FL. TA R R A B A N D E T Stem Nucleus of Evolution, 2019 Mixed media 17”x13” Estimated Retail Value: $2,700 Tarra Bandet’s Stem Nucleus of Evolution transforms direct elements of nature into symbolic fragments of exquisite light, vibrant palettes and sculptural mixed-media designs. The constant creative expansion of the Universe speaking to us is mirrored back to the Universe through our fundamental human consciousness seeking a heightened awareness of its mysteries in nature and guides our ability to make quantum leaps in our intelligence. The Universe further expands knowledge of itself by revealing and communicating its mysteries into human consciousness to create something ingeniously new. The luminous mixed-media sculptural painting is representative of the artist’s more extensive thematic symbolist practice. Her work frequently explores the relationship between the complex narratives of the human condition, nature, and our evolutionary purpose in the Universe. Bandet’s artwork recognizes that our primary human origin first resides amongst nature’s magnificent origin. This origin unites the rich tapestry of symbolic narratives about the human condition throughout the entire history of all cultures. Through constant evolution in nature, we honor the source of our origin. We discover that we are merely a precious small piece in a unique puzzle, far beyond our comprehension. Ultimately, evolution captures our imagination and strengthens the foundation for higher learning and creation by forging a covalent bond between the Arts and Sciences. JESSIC A BROWNE-WHITE Red Riding Hood:The World is Out To Get You, 2015/2016 Mixed Media 9 x 12 Estimated Retail Value: $1,270 New York-based multidisciplinary ar tist Jessica Browne-White (b. 1978) is a Waking Dreamer, Energy Ar tist, and creator of the Body/Image/Object (BIO) Project. She creates two and three-dimensional ar tworks that layer and reflect the physical, emotional, spiritual, and creative lives of women. Her work is an ongoing exploration of how our biology affects our biographies (and vice versa); along with how we can shift and integrate our perception of our bodies, our self-image, and the object(ive) of our lives. Browne-White describes this work as a piece about the release of emotional fracturing, and exploring the color and texture of emotion beneath the surface we present to the world. Where are the cracks and pressure points, and can we find beauty in them instead of hiding them? Graciously donated by ar tist
