CHAMPIONSHIPS

The 2022 NYSGA Championship season marked another great year of competitive golf across the Empire State.

From May through September, the NYSGA’s tournament operations team conducted 17 state titles, 37 sectional qualifiers, adding up to 64 championship tournament days in 2022.

Ten players won their first state titles including Jack Berl, Charlie Berridge, Gaelin Carrig, Michael Carrig, Victoria Leach, Sophia Li, Andrew Melnyk, Kennedy Swedick, Andrew Turker and Kevin VandenBerg.

Eleven others reclaimed a past title or captured a new one including Robert Branham, Matt Clarke, Billy Hanes, Kim Kaul, Mary Jo Kelly, Janice LaVigne, Jacob Olearczyk, Robert Rosen, Carl Schimenti, Christy Schultz and Julia Zigrossi.

We appreciate the support from member clubs who graciously allow us to conduct our championships at their venues. We’d like to thank this year’s host clubs: Leatherstocking Golf Course, McGregor Links Country Club, Onondaga Golf & Country Club, Seven Oaks Golf Course, Soaring Eagles Golf Course at Mark Twain State Park, RaNic Golf Club, Springville Country Club, Stafford Country Club and Transit Valley Country Clubfor providing the opportunity for our players to compete on their venues.

Our dedicated volunteers and committee members are the lifeblood of the NYSGA, and serve in an array of roles during championships. Without their assistance, we would not be able to provide the experience we currently offer to players at all NYSGA events. We’d like to thank them for all their continued support in serving the game of golf!
