Office of Financial Aid
An education at the New York School of Interior Design is one of the most valuable investments you will ever make. For many students and their families, the costs associated with college are a great concern. That is why we make every effort to make a NYSID education more affordable. The Office of Financial Aid is here to help guide you through the process.
HOW DO I APPLY FOR FINANCIAL AID? Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) online at fafsa.ed.gov. NYSID’s school code is 013606. The FAFSA for the upcoming school year is made available after October 1.
WHEN WILL I KNOW HOW MUCH MONEY I QUALIFY FOR? If you have been accepted to NYSID and have completed the FAFSA, you will receive a financial aid award letter by mail during the month of April. If you are accepted after May 1, you will receive your award letter approximately 15 days after our receipt of your completed FAFSA. Your award letter will list the types of financial aid and maximum respective dollar amounts for which you qualify. Please note that if additional documents are requested for your financial aid file, you will not receive an award letter until those documents are received and processed by our office.
WHAT TYPES OF FINANCIAL AID MIGHT I QUALIFY FOR? By filling out the FAFSA, you are applying for all types of federal aid and state aid (NY state residents only). For more information, please visit the Financial Aid section of our website, studentaid. gov, or hesc.org UNDERGRADUATE

CAN I APPLY FOR SCHOLARSHIPS AND GRANTS? Incoming and returning students are eligible to be considered for institutional aid in the form of scholarships or grants. An application must be submitted each academic year for consideration. Scholarships are awarded based on merit and specific criteria defined by the scholarship. To be considered, students must have at least a 3.0 GPA. Grants may be awarded based on merit and demonstrated financial need. In order for the scholarship to be considered for renewal, recipients must maintain at least a 3.0 GPA, continue to meet the award criteria, and have no violations of the NYSID Student Code of Conduct. It is expected that awarded students are enrolled full-time (12 or more credits) unless otherwise noted in the award descriptions.
WHAT OTHER FORMS OF ASSISTANCE ARE AVAILABLE? Payment Plan: Students can make payments to the college on a monthly basis through the Tuition Management Systems service. For more information, please contact the bursar’s office at BursarOffice@nysid.edu. Private (or alternative) Student Loans: Loans made available through banks and other private lenders. NYSID does not have a preferred lenders list as we do not maintain special ties with any lending institution. Students interested in this type of financing should do their research and decide upon the best option to meet their needs. Financial assistance is available to U.S. citizens and permanent residents who are matriculated and in good academic standing.
