NZCA ENVIRONMENTAL POLICY

The protection of people, our environment and assets are key to our success. NZCA is committed to being socially and environmentally responsible and to eliminating any adverse impact from our business activities on New Zealand’s environment where reasonably practicable. Where this cannot be achieved, NZCA and our partners will mitigate impacts with minimising and reducing control measures. This policy, supported by NZCA Partners and Management, is communicated as appropriate to workers, stakeholders, subcontractors, visitors, and anyone working on our sites or premises.

NZCA will: • Comply with all relevant legislation, codes of practice and regulations. • Assess, implement, review, and document an effective Environmental Management System (integrated with health and safety). • Aspire to reduce consumption of natural resources by efficient use of water, energy and other raw materials. • Reduce, reuse and recycle to cut down the amount of waste going directly to landfill. • Investigate waste reduction at the source (our suppliers) to further reduce waste. • Provide training and awareness to our employees to ensure they have appropriate knowledge on how to reduce the impact on the environment and to promote good practice.

• Favour suppliers and subcontractors whose practices are consistent with sound environmental management. • Develop and maintain emergency procedures to deal effectively with any significant environmental risks and hazards that may arise because of its activities. • Promote a system of continuous improvement, including the annual review of policies and procedures, site inspections and audits. • Promote and foster a culture of sustainability and environmental protection. • Have systems and procedures in place to reduce waste and make efficient use of resources. • Ensure that NZCA’s subcontractors and suppliers, share in our quality culture.

• Investigate environmentally certified products that are acceptable to our clients for construction works. • Make purchasing decisions in line with our commitment to reduce our environmental impact. • Identify the environmental effects of our operations and prevent or minimise pollution where reasonably practicable. • Identify opportunities to reduce any environmental impact because of our activities and adopt these changes where appropriate.
