NATIONAL COVERAGE LOCAL DELIVERY

Established in 2018, the New Zealand Construction Alliance (NZCA) is a partnership of culturally aligned regional construction companies, providing nationwide construction coverage through local delivery. With over 650 years’ collective directors experience, each partner in the alliance is a standout performer in their respective region with a proven track record in commercial construction. Collectively, our nationwide team provides a diverse network of construction experts that work together to deliver outstanding construction projects across New Zealand at a local level. NZCA was born out of the challenges faced within the New Zealand construction industry, with the well-documented struggle of construction companies delivering a national service in a sustainable manner. NZCA provides a solution to this problem through our “National Coverage, Local Delivery”, offering national coverage through the regional partners and their strong, trusted relationships with experienced local subcontractors and supply chains. Through the alliance, NZCA directly employs over 1,000 staff including our own carpentry and labour teams, and have a strong commitment to the growth, development and training of our staff and apprentices. With our unique structure delivering national projects locally, we have the ability to make a wider socio-economic impact as a tangible industry lead for real regional growth and development by utilising our local teams, suppliers and sub trades. With a combined annual turnover of over $1 billion, the alliance partners not only benefit from the additional national project work, but also by being part of a trusting, culturally aligned, collaborative organisation that creates opportunities to learn, share and grow from each other, resulting in a steadfast national collective offering and team.

OUR PURPOSE OUR VALUES

NZCA operates with a purpose of “National Coverage, Local Delivery”

National Coverage speaks to the established network we have built to deliver outstanding commercial construction projects of all sizes and complexity, that run across the length and breadth of New Zealand.

Local Delivery speaks to how we work with the regional partners’ trusted and experienced local subcontractors and supply chains to deliver the project, provide backup and ongoing support.

This network of regional commercial construction companies was hand-picked by NZCA founding partners after extensive research on which companies would be the best fit for the NZCA model. The strong leadership, values and track-record of these companies, alongside their commitment to working together to deliver high-quality projects on-time and onbudget, has resulted in a seamless national solution to commercial construction and maintenance.

Every partner in the alliance has an established, trusted and reliable regional based supply chain, giving us absolute confidence we can deliver to a high standard and in-turn significantly reduce project risk. Long after the project is completed, our local partner is there to support and guarantee their ongoing work without hesitation or delay. NZCA partners have proven track records for treating their trade staff as part of the team; always ensuring they are treated well and paid on time. This results in a high level of service and commitment from our local supply chain, making sure we deliver on-time quality projects within budget, ultimately delivering the best possible experience to our clients.

Our values provide a pathway to how we operate. These values are:

6

People First – NZCA partners emphatically agree that our greatest assets are our people. Engrained in our culture is the dedication to our team’s mental and physical health, safety and wellbeing, and our commitment to continuous growth through training, development and support.

OUR SUSTAINABILITY MODEL

NZCA’s national network and influence has the ability to go well beyond construction – the impact it can have on regional economic and social systems, while maybe not the immediate focus, cannot be underestimated. NZCA is a tangible industry leader for real regional growth and development from every level – physical buildings, growing community, upskilling regional youth, empowering locals, keeping profit in regions, growing local businesses, sharing knowledge and resources, national networks and beyond. The far reaching socioeconomic benefits of NZCA has the potential to make real positive change to the places that need it most.

NZCA has three pillars of sustainability that drive the foundations and overarching purpose of the company. These sustainability aims intertwine with Tikanga Māori values, Manakitanga (care for others), Ōhanga (financial prosperity) and Kaitiakitanga (stewardship of all our resources). Social Sustainability - Manakitanga • Providing regional companies with national projects means local people staying employed. People are important to us. • The sharing of knowledge, learnings, and people between regional partners in the network creates opportunities for local growth. • Focusing on apprentices, training and upskilling youth provides greater opportunities for people, and has a wider impact on the community. • Encouraging real diversity in the workplace with a team of over a thousand hard working dedicated people all with unique backgrounds and experiences. NZCA’s founding CEO was one of the few female leaders in the industry and we continue to champion and promote diversity within our organisation. Economic Sustainability - Ōhanga • Providing regional partners with national project opportunities they otherwise wouldn’t have had, allowing companies to grow with the increased ongoing workflow. • Sustaining local subcontractors and supply chains by providing them with continued business, keeping the local trade staff and contractors employed. • Keeping local economy thriving and by retaining profit in regions and growing local businesses.

12

Environmental Sustainability - Kaitiakitanga NZCA operates at the highest level of sustainable practices in an industry known for waste. Our Site Safety and Environmental Plan (SSEP) includes our waste management practices. We ensure on-site waste management practices, minimising the amount of construction waste going to disposal in accordance with the Green Star New Zealand Man-5 Waste Management Technical Manual. We ensure at least 70% of construction waste by weight is reused and/or recycled. An exemplary standard has been set by Foster Construction Group Limited, a founding partner of NZCA, who are EnviroMark Diamond and CarbonZero certified. They provide a benchmark for all partners to aspire to and offer support to help our entire NZCA team to reach this exceptional level of certification. The following guiding principles are all key to our regional partners: • Designing infrastructure and buildings to minimise waste. • Working with preferred suppliers who have waste minimisation/environmental plans/credentials. • Arranging with suppliers a reduction in packaging or the ability to return packaging. • Using construction methods that allow for deconstruction. • Using products and materials that reduce waste and are low maintenance. • Using prefabricated materials and materials prepared offsite as much as possible. • Scheduling works to minimise time between delivery and installation. • Providing detailed plans and instructions to workers, including subcontractors on site waste minimisation targets and how these will be achieved.
