Sunday 12 May

Arrive Melbourne

Mid-afternoon arrival into Melbourne from New Zealand. After clearing customs and passing through immigration control, meet your specialist Quadrant Australia Ag Tour Manager, who will be with you for the duration of the tour. Enjoy some beautiful sights of Melbourne, as you transfer to your well-appointed hotel for a 1-night stay. This evening a Welcome Dinner at a nearby Southbank restaurant - your Tour Manager will provide a brief on the tour program. Meals: - - D Overnight: Melbourne

Monday 13 May

Melbourne - Inverloch

This morning we will travel north of Melbourne to Bundoora to visit DairyBio – based at La Trobe University, this is a joint initiative of Agriculture Victoria and Dairy Australia – a world-class facility creating improved pastures and herds through the latest advances in bioscience for the Australian dairy industry. Travel on to the well-known Gippsland region and enjoy lunch on route. We visit the Ellinbank Research Farm – the National Centre for Dairy Research and Development, set in the foothills of the beautiful Strzelecki Ranges of West Gippsland. Ellinbank has a long history of generating research used by Australian dairy farmers, ensuring Australia is one of the most efficient dairy producers in the world. The 217ha farm boasts modern infrastructure including greenhouse chambers, a dairy and a feeding complex. Travel to the seaside town of Inverloch and check-in to accommodation for a 1-night stay. Just prior to dusk, we make the journey to nearby Phillip Island Nature Park to watch the penguin parade, as they make the journey from the ocean to their burrows on dusk (5.15pm in May). Inverloch - Geelong

Depart Inverloch this morning – we will visit a dairy farmer in the south Gippsland region who has a combination of robotic and conventional technology and you will receive an insight into how the two systems are complimenting each other. After lunch on route again today, we will visit a farming family who has varying degrees of automation and technology and has done a lot of work to improve their pastures and profitability. We then travel on to the picturesque town of Sorrento to catch the ferry to cross from the Mornington Peninsula to Queenscliff on the Bellarine Peninsula. Transfer to accommodation in Geelong for a 1-night stay. Dinner at hotel restaurant. Meals: B, L, D Overnight: Geelong

Wednesday 15 May

Geelong - Warrnambool

This morning we depart Geelong and travel firstly to Winchelsea – the picturesque gateway to the Otway Hinterlands and the Western District. Located on the banks of the Barwon River, it is immersed in history and surrounded by fertile farmland and historic buildings. Next we will pass through Colac – located on the southern banks of Lake Colac – it is on a huge rich volcanic plain. We will visit a dairy farmer near Colac who is utilising advanced technology to make improved farm management decisions. We then continue our journey west to Cobden, where you will observe the fertile soils and volcanic hills and plains and after lunch we continue onto Warrnambool, where we will request a visit to a leading supplier of farming and irrigation machinery. Afternoon check-in to accommodation in Warrnambool for a 1night stay. Dinner at hotel restaurant tonight. Meals: B, L, D Overnight: Warrnambool

Thurs 16 May

Warrnambool - Mount Gambier

Today we will travel across the state border into the south east region of South Australia. This region produces over 60% of the state’s milk and is regarded as the primary production area. It is mostly supported by summer irrigated pastures. We will visit an established New Zealand farmer who has invested into this region. You will receive an insight into the differences of farming in this region compared to New Zealand. Lunch in Mount Gambier. After lunch we will spend some time at the Blue Lake - a large monomictic crater lake located in a dormant volcanic maar. The lake has a striking change of colour from a colder steel grey (at the time of our visit), to a vibrant cobalt blue colour in December through to March. In the afternoon we will visit another New Zealand dairy farmer who has established a very profitable business in this region, who will provide an insight into his farming system. Check in to accommodation in Mount Gambier for a 1-night stay. Dinner at resort restaurant tonight overlooking the city. Meals: B, L, D Overnight: Mt Gambier

This morning we depart Warrnambool and head east - our day will be spent travelling and sightseeing along the Great Ocean Road - a spectacular section of the Australian coastline. We plan to make stops at the Twelve Apostles, Apollo Bay, Kennett River, Lorne, enjoying lunch along the way. Afternoon arrival into Melbourne for a 1-night stay. Farewell Dinner at a nearby Southbank restaurant. Meals: B, L, D Overnight: Melbourne

Mount Gambier - Warrnambool

This morning we will leave South Australia and head back into Victoria. Our first visit will be to the DairyBio pasture research field trial site at Hamilton to observe the work being done there on improving pastures for the dairy industry. You will have the chance to see the technology that is used to regularly observe pasture performance in the fields. After lunch we will continue our journey south east visiting a dairy farmer who’s focusing on improving pastures and the herd, whilst also being driven by profitability. Check in to accommodation in Warrnambool for a 1-night stay. Dinner at local restaurant. Meals: B, L, D Overnight: Warrnambool

TERMS AND CONDITIONS DAIRY EXPORTER - VICTORIA & SOUTH AUSTRALIA, 2019 IMPORTANT: By paying the deposit you accept the following terms and conditions - please read carefully prior to booking: Tour Price: (NZ$ per person) Cash price twin share: From NZ$3995 Single supplement: NZ$680 The price of the tour is based on twin share accommodation. If you wish to share but do not have someone to share with, we may be able to assist. Departure Point This tour commences and finishes in Melbourne, Australia. Flights from NZ are not included, however we can arrange these for you at extra cost. *Pricing The price is based on New Zealand dollars. Farm To Farm Tours Ltd reserves the right to amend the price to reflect changes in exchange rates, airfares, aviation fuel and tariffs beyond our control. The price and inclusions are based on a minimum of 20 paying travellers and the price or itinerary may be amended if the group does not reach this number. The tour price is based on payment by cheque, cash or direct credit. For payments by credit card, a full retail price will apply which is an additional 2.75%. Payment and Cancellation A non-refundable deposit of NZ$500 per person is payable on booking. The balance is required 12 weeks prior to departure. If it is necessary to cancel your tour, monies will be refunded less a cancellation fee (per person) as follows: More than 12 weeks before departure - Deposit Between 12 and 6 weeks before departure - 40% Between 6 weeks and 30 days before departure - 60% Less than 30 days before departure - No refund An additional fee may apply to offset any booking, communication or administration charges already incurred by us. You may also be required to pay cancellation fees imposed by our Suppliers. After departure from New Zealand, no refunds are available for unused portions of the tour programme. In the event of insufficient bookings 12 weeks before commencement of the tour, the tour may be cancelled with a full refund of your deposit. Insurance Full travel insurance is compulsory for all travellers. Please ensure your insurance policy is in place by the time you make payment for the tour. Passport/Visa It is your responsibility to ensure you have a current and valid passport and entry visa(s) where required. Some countries require 6 months validity beyond the date of return. Farm To Farm Tours Ltd does not accept responsibility for any traveller refused entry to any country. Privacy & Marketing Travellers consent to Farm To Farm Tours Ltd using personal information supplied for purposes associated with the operation of the tour. Photographs or video footage taken by Farm To Farm Tours Ltd representatives during the trip may be used for promotional purposes, including on Farm To Farm Tours Ltd’s social media sites. Any traveller can notify Farm To Farm Tours Ltd if they do not wish to appear in any photographs or videos at any time prior to or during the tour. Possible Taxation Advantages The special interest farming segment of some tours is designed to inform and educate participants about trends and opportunities relevant to farmers’ occupational activity. Taxation savings on the advertised price may be available for bona-fide farmers subject to IRD approval. Please see your accountant for advice. Further Terms Farm To Farm Tours Ltd contracts services as agent of the traveller and shall not be liable for any injury, death, damage, loss, accident, delay or irregular additional expense or liability occasioned to any person or property howsoever caused or arising whether due to the act, neglect, default or otherwise of any such person or their agents or resulting directly or indirectly from acts of God, acts of terrorism, dangers, incidents of the air, land or sea, fire, breakdown in machinery or equipment, acts of govern-ments or other authorities, wars, riots, strikes, insurrections, theft, pilferage, epidemics, pandemics, quarantine, medical or customs or other regulations, delays and cancellations of or changes in itinerary or schedules or over-booking, improper or insufficient passport, visa or other travel documents or by any other cause. Farm To Farm Tours Ltd prepared this itinerary in good faith and it remains the property of Farm To Farm Tours Ltd. Farm To Farm Tours Ltd will endeavour to provide services as described but reserves the right to cancel or alter any tour itinerary should it, in the opinion of the principals, be warranted or become necessary to do so and, in particular, by reason of adverse weather conditions, road conditions or any unforeseen circumstances. Farm To Farm Tours Ltd shall not be liable or responsible to any person in the event of dissatisfaction with tour services or be liable or responsible for any disappointment, distress, vexation or loss of enjoyment arising from any act or omission whatsoever. Farm To Farm Tours Ltd shall not be liable for any loss or expense arising from any statement, advice or recommendation made by the tour escort or any other servant or supplier of the business, and shall not be responsible for any business or commercial decision made by any person as a result of any such statement, advice or recommendation. In such circumstances Farm To Farm Tours Ltd will not be obliged to offer any refund or transfer of ticket. Variations Should tour members wish to extend their travel and vary return flights, stopovers or other arrangements, we are happy to assist but an administration charge may be incurred. Passengers depart New Zealand as a group unless an alternative arrangement is agreed with Farm To Farm Tours. The receipt of a booking form and/ or deposit payment by the traveller to Farm To Farm Tours Ltd shall be deemed as consent to the above conditions.
