“We ‘re ready to negotiate our own Unitec collective agreement.” TEU members at Unitec and four other polytechnics have voted to negotiate separately so that we can have direct face-to-face conversations with our employer. But instead, these employers are determined to stay together, even though they all say they want different things. They would rather keep ganging together as a power-bloc. We want a collective agreement with our employer – Unitec. We have voted overwhelmingly in favour of this but our employer is trying to ignore the collective wishes of his staff, and will use public money to fight a legal appeal to try to avoid negotiating directly with us. Meanwhile, both time and public money is being wasted and there is no sign in sight of a collective agreement. We are ready - we have a team of professional, democratic, local people just like you. We know what we want - a fair pay rise and no loss of working conditions. Let’s get moving on this for the good of our students, and for the good of education We’re ready to go.
