N

othing is richer than life’s sweet blessings! And being the dessert enthusiast that I am, when we’re talking about “sweet blessings,” we obviously mean bread pudding, of course!

This dessert of all desserts utilizes the most modest ingredient ever — bread — and whips it into a remarkable treat.

Served hot or cold, bread pudding lures me in with its captivatingly smooth texture and divine flavors. If you’re on a diet, guess what? One bite of this heaven-sent delight and there goes your diet right out the window. It’s just too good to pass up.

We all know that bread pudding warms the heart and soul, and is just perfect at this time of year as the holidays draw near. Here at the following Ono, You Know establishments, you’ll find some of the most onolicious bread budding in town. My, oh my, I think Christmas came a little early this year!

Nagaishi adds.

For a more traditional style, Shore Bird, the restaurant adjacent to Ocean House, offers a bread pudding as part of its breakfast buffet ($14.95), which features the establishment’s fresh baked pastries blended with cinnamon and raisins, and topped with coconut.

No matter which restaurant you choose, each bite of bread pudding is as good as the next, and the consistency is just perfect. Bread pudding is a dessert that doesn’t discriminate against breakfast, lunch or dinner, making it an all-around favorite.

Beach Bar Takes a Fresh Approach to Dining

M

oana Surfrider, A Westin Resort & Spa has been the prime example of Hawaiian hospitality since it opened its doors in 1901. Regarded as “First Lady of Waikiki,” this historic landmark welcomes visitors and kamaaina alike back to yesteryear with its first-class amenities and top-notch customer service.

As you roam the property, you’ll come across hints of Hawaii’s history steeped in contemporary settings. Take Beach Bar for instance. Founded in the early 1950s and situated on the premier oceanfront stretch of Waikiki Beach, this courtyard bar is nestled beneath the historic banyan tree with panoramic views of the Pacific Ocean. As the original beachside bar in Waikiki, Beach Bar encourages guests to sit back and relax while indulging in refreshing tropical drinks and casual, local-inspired cuisine.

Norman Soderberg serves as executive chef at Beach Bar and confirms the notion that his culinary creations go way beyond the realm of your typical “bar food.”

“What inspires me most is just wanting to serve great food to our patrons, not just deep-fried bar food that everyone thinks of,” says Soderberg, who has been with Moana Surfrider for the past five years. “Here at Beach Bar we’re really emphasizing healthy and fresh. We’re trying to incorporate a lot of superfoods, such as avocado, into our dishes.”

to Soderberg, means a plethora of local ingredients and the freshest of fish.

“We’re trying to go green, and it’s important that we take advantage of what we have here at home. We rely on local farms, such as Nalo Farms and Ho Farms, among others, for our fresh ingredients. We even source our watercress from Kunia,” he states, noting that the new menu has been a work in progress.

Stellar items off the menu are easy to come by. Whether you’re in the mood for a mouth-watering Grilled Chicken, Pesto Aioli Flatbread Pizza ($16) topped with Nalo arugula, or Island Fish Tacos ($16), featuring a fresh island catch, cabbage, cilantro and a chipotle citrus yogurt wrapped in a grilled flour tortilla, Beach Bar presents you with some of the best in local fare.

“No question about it, our signature, top-selling dish is Ahi Poke Nachos ($19),” Soderberg says. “I've sold thousands of these.”

fresh island ahi, morsels of avocado, Maui onion, bonito flakes and sprinkles of nori drizzled with sriracha aioli and sweet kabayaki.

“This is a definite crowd pleaser and the bonito flakes give way to a smoky fish taste, which people love,” he exclaims.

Beach Bar’s Thai Cobb Salad ($18) is ideal for the health conscious as it boasts grilled marinated chicken, apple-wood-smoked bacon, local cucumbers, sweet and spicy peanuts, and rice noodles atop a bed of fresh Nalo greens splashed with a zestful Thai dressing.

“One of our newer dishes is Loco Moco ($18). It’s been doing well considering it’s new,” Soderberg says of this hearty feast, which consists of an 8ounce beef patty decked out with loco moco must-haves, including sweet onion, poached egg and roasted garlic infused with a red wine demi.

“We plan to change up the menu seasonally and add new items as we see fit,” he adds.

“You have to stay inspired. As a chef, you have to keep on creating or else you’ll be left behind.”

Open daily for lunch and dinner, Beach Bar certainly draws in the crowds, and while breakfast isn’t available here, Soderberg also has created a mesmerizing breakfast spread across the way at the snack bar, where early risers are treated to a continental breakfast showcasing hot sandwiches, parfaits, acai bowls, fresh-pressed juices and more.

“Beach Bar is the perfect place for the family after a swim in the ocean or the pool. Despite the fact that this is a ‘bar,’ we’re very kidfriendly and have menus especially for them,” Soderberg says.

“During the day, Beach Bar gives off a laid-back, local contemporary feel, and then at night it’s more sophisticated with an upbeat jazz vibe. There’s always live entertainment going on.”

ggs ‘n Things celebrates the opening of its third location at 451 Piikoi St. (near Ala Moana Center) by bringing back some of its original menu items and prices from when the restaurant first opened in 1974.

On Thursday, Oct. 25 from 6 to 7:30 a.m., enjoy the Early Riser (consisting of three pancakes and two fresh local eggs cooked to your liking) for only 99 cents.

Then, from 2 to 5 p.m., there will be four menu items offered at 1974 prices: Bacon and Two Eggs ($2.35), Link Sausage and Two Eggs ($2.35), Strawberry Sundae Pancakes ($3.50), and Ham and Cheese Omelette ($3.45).

These prices will be offered on this day and at these times only.

Thirty-eight years later, and the popular breakfast served all-day eatery continues to follow its founding key goals of using fresh ingredients, keeping prices reasonable and treating everyone like ohana. As for the food, just look at the crowd, and you know it’s gotta be good.

Eggs ‘n Things has two locations in Waikiki, one on Saratoga Road (across from the U.S. Post Office) and Waikiki Beach Eggspress (which is more of a takeout restaurant with a limited dine-in area) on Kalakaua Avenue at the Aston Waikiki Circle Hotel.

A longtime favorite for locals and tourists, the new Eggs ‘n Things Ala Moana has the look of a traditional diner with bar seating and

booths, and ample free parking. There also is a retail shop inside with buttermilk pancake mix, syrups, Waialua coffee, eco-bags, T-shirts and more.

“We’ve been getting a lot of comments from locals (wanting another location with parking,” says restaurant manager Robby Takahashi. “And

we think this is a good area for locals, tourists and even the nearby business offices.”

A must-try popular dish is Hawaiian Loco Moco ($12.25), consisting of a bed of rice, homemade hamburger patty, brown gravy, and sauteed mushrooms, onions and Portuguese sausage with two eggs (to your liking)

on top. One of my favorites is Strawberry Whip Cream with Nuts Pancakes ($12.75, similar to Strawberry Sundae Pancakes) with strawberries, a tower of whip cream and macadamia nuts. For syrups, you can choose the traditional maple or there’s coconut, guava and pineapple (seasonal).

In addition to its scrumptious pancakes, omelets and crepes, Eggs ‘n Things also has a lunch/dinner menu (available after noon) with local favorites such as Chicken Fried Steak ($16.55), Kalbi and Eggs ($12.95), and Calamari Steak ($13.95).

Whether you’re craving breakfast foods for breakfast, lunch or dinner, you can count on Eggs ‘n Things for good food, large portions and its signature service with aloha.

The sampler includes siu mai, shrimp, spinach and a half-moon dumpling, and was part of an overall dim sum meal, Glenn described as “beautiful.” It’s no wonder the LeMarchiant’s enjoyed their lunch. The dim sum at Seafood Village is fresh, light and always juicy. And if the fourdumpling sampler isn’t enough, no worries, the restaurant offers 36 types of dim sum, and 13 separate appetizers ranging from pot stickers to Chilled Julienned Jelly Fish ($10.95), so you’ll be hard pressed to find a flavor profile the restaurant can’t meet. Even if you’re looking for something you don’t think they have.

ucked away in the coziest of nooks within First Hawaiian Bank’s lobby is the best kept secret in downtown Honolulu — Cafe Central.

In an age when mom-andpop cafes are overshadowed by monotonous chain coffee shops, the unique feel and superb products presented by husband-and-wife duo Max and Mary Suiter are downright refreshing.

“We really focus on the quality of whatever we’re selling — whether it’s coffee, pastries or sandwiches, we do pride ourselves on the quality of our work,” says Mary.

Visitors get a taste of that dedication before they even sip the coffee, as the shop’s beautiful Red Eucalyptus wood work is impossible to skim over. Max, who also is a general contractor, constructed the cafe’s facade and tables entirely from a fallen tree purchased in Manoa 12 years ago. He brought the wood together with custom-made North

Shore stained glass to create a Frank Lloyd Wrightinspired look.

The same attention to detail goes into everything offered at Cafe Central, including one of its most popular specialty drinks, Espresso Affogato ($3.75). This Italian classic presents locally made gelato — choose from Kona Coffee, Fior di latte (sweet cream), dark chocolate macadamia nut, milk chocolate or salted caramel — topped with cascading hot espresso for an unimaginably divine spoonful.

The Affogato’s luxurious flavor stands out because of the ingredients it is made with. Like the shop’s Kona Blend coffee, its Espresso Blend is roasted exclusively

by Max’s brother, Raymond Suiter, who owns Kona Coffee Purveyors in Sand Island. To bring out the bean’s true flavor, each shot is artistically crafted on a Strada espresso machine — La Marzocco’s finest model — which was imported directly from Italy and is the only one of its kind in Hawaii.

“Its the Lamborghini of espresso machines,” Mary says with a laugh. “There’s nothing push-button about it.”

Another Strada-made beauty is the seasonally themed Pumpkin Pie Latte (small: $3.55, 12 ounces; medium: $4.25, 16 ounces; large: $4.65, 20 ounces), made with real spices to give this smooth and creamy treat an extra layer of richness.

If you are looking for something to eat along with your drink, Cafe Central offers made to order sandwiches as well as pastries provided by Fendu Boulangerie. Patrons may order food past regular lunch hours, and lately, the Acai Bowl ($6.25, eat in or to go) has been a customer favorite.

Enjoy a thick mix of refreshing acai berries accented with soy milk, then bejeweled with frozen bananas, strawberries, organic granola and a touch of honey.

For anyone in search of a quality bite, it’s about time this hidden gem be revealed.

Who or what inspires you as a chef/manager/owner? As the owners of an “authentic” Japanese restaurant in Waikiki, what drives us every day is to serve quality dishes and provide sincere hospitality that would make even Japanese tourists who arrived that morning say, “this place is just like Japan,” which is actually something that we hear, and appreciate hearing, every day. But it is a fact that Waikiki, and also our restaurant, enjoys guests from all over the world. To these friends, we feel it is our responsibility to ensure that they take away an experience that is as genuine as possible.

What is your favorite dish on the menu? Why? There are two dishes that we are exceptionally proud of.

First is “Hawaii-San Sampler” or the “Local Sampler,” which consists

of three types of local sashimi delicacies — Hawaiian tuna, Hawaiian kampachi and sweet shrimp from Molokai. The other dish is Big Island Awabi or abalone. Awabi is delivered to us three times a week and kept alive in our tank so that our customers can enjoy it as fresh as possible. These dishes are our favorite because we believe it exemplifies the essence of what we strive to do here: Take pride in and showcase locally-grown products, while preparing, presenting and serving it

What is your favorite ingredient to work with? Why? Our favorite ingredients are very simple ones: konbu seaweed and kezuriboshi (dried bonito). The reason also is very simple: It is the basic component or stock of all of our sauces and soups that we serve here. I think you will find it very common to hear that almost all soups/sauces used in Japanese cuisine start with these ingredients. From there, you would add spices or flavors to make it unique and your own. I guess you could say it’s a favorite by necessity.

What are your culinary goals?

What do you hope to improve on?

The goal of Odoriko is to preserve the foundations of what makes us an authentic, izakaya style, Japanese restaurant — great food and service, and a positive, vibrant, and energetic ambiance.

We are always mindful, and even scrutinizing of taste and service. It takes constant training and retraining. Our other goal, to use local products and support our community, is more of a fun and selfrewarding endeavor. T

he exquisite sounds of jazz intermixed with the alluring flavors of Pacific Rim cuisine create the perfect marriage. So, let’s do the math: World-renowned saxophonist Michael Paulo plus one of Hawaii’s premier restaurants, 3660 on the Rise, equates to this week’s truly unforgettable Dining with the Stars experience.

We were lucky enough to snag local boy, now L.A.-based, Paulo one afternoon for a quick lunch at this award-winning establishment on the corner of Waialae Avenue and Wilhelmina Rise.

“3660 on the Rise is upscale and local — and in Kaimuki of all places. Chef Russell Siu and I went to school together at Saint Louis,” says Paulo of this hidden gem.

Considered to be one of the most versatile and cosmopolitan saxophonists in pop, soul and contemporary jazz for nearly 20 years, Paulo just wrapped up concerts with acclaimed jazz musician David Benoit in Philippines and Indonesia.

“I’m home (in Hawaii) for a bit, and, of course, I wouldn’t miss the chance to eat here!”

Usually closed on Mondays, 3660 on the Rise graciously opened its doors to accommodate Paulo’s busy schedule, and better yet, chef de cuisine Lydell Leong prepared three dishes that were out-of-this-world.

Enter Shichimi Seared Ahi on a bed of truffled dry-land pea shoots salad; Pan-Seared Masago Arare Crusted Salmon with honey chili aioli and pickled Maui onions; and the restaurant’s signature Mile High Waialae Pie, a decadent dessert composed of layers of macadamia nut crust, HaagenDazs vanilla ice cream, caramelized sugar, chocolate sauce and coffee ice cream.

“Everything is delicious,” Paulo says with a smile. “First of all, with the Masago Arare Crusted Salmon, the flavor of the crust is really good, and the salmon is moist, but firm. It tastes good! And I love seared ahi. The way chef Lydell made it is perfect; it’s not dry and not overcooked.

“I think I’m in heaven,” he adds, while taking a bite of Mile High Waialae Pie. “I have a sweet tooth. I love desserts, and I have to say, macadamia nut ice

cream is my favorite ice cream in the world. This dessert has big chunks of macadamia nut, ice cream and chocolate.”

With an ear for music and a palate for superlative eats, Paulo’s gearing up for the third annual Pacific Rim Jazz Festival, Nov. 3 from 4 to 10 p.m. at Hawaii Convention Center’s

As the producer of this much-anticipated event, Paulo says attendees can expect a spectacular evening complete with a lineup of international artists along with national and local stars, including guitarist Russ Freeman and The Rippingtons, Grammy award-winner Deniece Williams, saxophonist Kaori Kobayashi,

jazz trumpeter Rick Braun, smooth jazz pianist Brian Simpson, Hawaii's “King of the Keyboard” Rene Paulo, Na Hoku Hanohano awardee Starr Kalahiki, Michael Paulo and more.

“This jazz festival is for everyone. The entertainment will be very animated party music.

When it comes to food and music, I always look for variety,” Paulo says. “I love the fact that I’ll get to perform with all the artists, and that’s the most enjoyable part of it all.”

Paulo has been playing the saxophone for the past four decades, and stumbled upon the instrument at age 15 while in his high school band.

“When I started playing saxophone, I found a passion for it and I loved it. I began playing in shows in Waikiki, and then I got my big break locally with Kalapana to be their saxophonist.

The first gig I did with them was at Waikiki Shell in front of 11,000 people,” he recalls. “I traveled all over the Mainland and Asia with them, but after a while I began to feel like I needed to branch out on my own.

“I moved to Los Angeles and got my second big break as the saxophonist for Al Jarreau, who is considered legendary. For me, that was such a validation. That put me on a world stage. It was totally awesome and launched me into my career today.”

Tickets for Pacific Rim Jazz Festival cost $60 for general admission and $75 for gold reserved seating. VIP reserved seating costs $130 and includes access to gourmet food tasting stations featuring some of Hawaii’s best restaurants, such as 3660 on the Rise, Jade Dynasty, The Chart House and more. or 32 years, Restaurant Suntory has treated visitors to traditional Japanese cuisine — from shabu shabu and sushi to teppanyaki — featuring Hawaiian touches and ingredients.

But, for a limited time, the popular eatery in Royal Hawaiian Center is bringing the dynamic flavors of Kyushu — one of Japan’s islands — to Hawaii in what the restaurant calls its “Kyushu Festival.”

Restaurant Suntory’s general manager Nobuyuki Aoyama explains that Kyushu is located at the southwest end of the Japanese archipelago, and is known for an abundance of natural resources and ingredients used for cooking, thanks to fertile soil and thriving ocean life in the area. The island is surrounded by waters featuring both hot and cold currents, which combine to enhance the growth of plankton, that in turn bolsters the aquatic life. The fish from the area are the centerpiece of the “Kyushu Festival,” which will allow diners to taste the flavors of the region through November.

“Our goal on a daily basis is to introduce visitors from Japan to the tastes and flavors of Hawaii, whether it’s seafood or any traditional Japanese cuisine that we can incorporate local ingredients into,” Aoyama says. “We like to serve as the bridge to introduce some of the cuisine of Japan to both local diners and visitors from the Mainland as well. We’d like to use this Kyushu Festival to thank our local customers for being loyal to us for 32 years because without them, we couldn’t make it this far.”

lunch set available in limited quantities daily. The multiplecourse set includes Sashimi, Nagasaki Gomadofu (sesame tofu), Ikashumai (squid dumpling), Iwashi Ichiyaboshi (marinated sardine), Matsutake Dobinmushi (a rich mushroom broth) and Nori Somen (noodles) with somen sauce.

For dinner, Aoyama recommends Kyushu Gourmet Roll ($8) featuring squid, spicy fish eggs, fresh wasabi and fresh pickles. Iwashi Mentaiko ($10) is another dinner option included in the “Kyushu Festival” menu, and features sardine marinated in a rich mushroom sauce.

Kyushu Sushi Course Dinner ($52) has a host of seafood selections from the region in both sashimi and sushi form as well as Matsutake Chawanmushi (savory custard with mushrooms). The set also includes a savory dessert, Kumamoto Ikinari Dango (available a la carte for $6),

which is composed of Japanese sweet potato and vanilla ice cream topped with Kaposu jam from Kyushu.

“Their seafood is known around the world,” says Aoyama of the featured fish from Kyushu.

“The festival is focusing on the one island in Japan, but Kyushu contains seven different prefectures that each have their own ingredients and flavors that we incorporate in the menu.”

Diners also are reminded that they will receive 20 percent off the dinner menu when they bring in the current coupon in Dining Out. Additionally, those visiting the shopping center may still

take advantage of the ongoing parking deal: free for the first hour and just $1 per hour thereafter for up to four hours with validation.

“Waikiki has changed a lot, and the shopping center itself has undergone vast renovations that have resulted in significant changes,” says Aoyama. “I hope that our restaurant will serve as an opportunity for local residents to come back to Waikiki and experience what the area has to offer, while also enjoying our food. We still offer the same traditional cuisine and great service that we’ve developed over 32 years in Hawaii.”

Ryojiro, who now serves as Sakura’s head chef, learned to cook from their father and also has worked in French and Italian restaurants. “He likes to try all kinds of food,” Junichiro says.

Several years ago, all three moved to the Islands. “(The golf course) had been looking for a restaurant, so my father brought me down to Hawaii,” Junichiro says.

The brothers honed their culinary craft at the golf course restaurant, but with their recent move, their menu has shifted, too.

“We have changed the menu. We now have more Japanese-American style,” Junichiro says, explaining that the previous restaurant focused on local and American dishes. At Sakura, diners can enjoy Japanese influences as well.

akura Restaurant comes to its Waialae location from a previous home at Olomana Golf Course, where it had been for several years. Customers may recognize the co-owners, brothers Junichiro and Ryojiro Tsuchiya, from their days in Olomana, but the story started long before that. The Tsuchiya brothers were raised in the restaurant industry.

“My father owned a restaurant in Japan,” Junichiro says. That also was a JapaneseAmerican-style eatery. Junichiro and Ryojiro had separate day jobs, but moonlighted as workers in their father’s restaurant.

n Japan, the beautiful sakura flowers bloom during the spring. It may be fall right now, but it’s clear that Sakura Restaurant, which just opened its doors a few weeks ago, is blooming into a popular, successful eatery.

Junichiro Tsuchiya, who co-owns the restaurant with his brother, head chef Ryojiro, describes the restaurant’s cuisine as Japanese-American. A glance over the menu reveals that Sakura features the best of both types of food, along with local favorites. The

restaurant’s offerings include a wide variety of food — from spaghetti to udon.

The brothers hail from Japan, and after years of serving local patrons at their previous restaurant, they have cultivated a set of fusion dishes that combine their diverse influences perfectly. Dishes with a local influence include Spare Rib ($13.50), which is marinated in an aromatic shoyu-based teriyaki sauce. Pescatore Spaghetti ($15) features clams, scallops, shrimp

“And we still keep traditional (Japanese) dishes such as sushi and sashimi, and Japanese-style tempura,” Junichiro says.

For a taste of Sakura’s Japanese flavors, try Unagi Avocado Donburi ($14.50), which is topped with nori and Japanese yam, and is served with miso soup.

“A lot of our customers might order a steak, but then they also order sushi,” he says.

No matter what type of food lures you into Sakura, the delectable homemade desserts are something that all diners will enjoy. These include Okinawa Sweet Potato Pudding, Tiramisu, Chocolate Cake and Cheesecake — all are priced at $4 each.

“We welcome any kind of customers — those who want to come for a beer and pupu after work, or those who want to enjoy a nice family dinner,” Junichiro says.

If you’re dining with a large group, Sakura’s menu is perfect, as it can cater to a range of different tastes and cravings.

And for groups, there also is a room in the back of the restaurant that allows for a quieter, more intimate dining experience and can hold up to 15 people.

For those coming for some pau hana fun, Sakura’s happy hour is a great deal. It runs from 5 to 6 p.m. and from 9:30 p.m. to closing each night, and features drink and pupu specials. Beer, including locally made Aloha Beer, is just $2.95, and house wine and sake are available for $3.50. And if you’re wondering what the difference is between shave ice and snow ice, Huang explains, “The best way I can describe snow ice is imagine a block of ice cream you freeze and then shave; so all the sugars and flavors are in there.”

have flocked to The Willows Restaurant since the Moiliili eatery opened in 1944, and have continually enjoyed the tranquil setting and robust buffet spreads offered at the iconic establishment.

While Hawaii’s original and favorite garden restaurant continues to serve up traditional Hawaiian food and other favorites at its lunch, dinner and Sunday brunch buffets, some recent changes at the eatery have led to the inclusion of local comfort food selections that have both customers and staff clamoring for second servings.

Executive chef Craig Yasaka took the helm at The Willows Sept. 21 when previous executive chef Miles Miyamoto was handed the reins of Karai Crab. Since adding his touches to The Willows menu, customers have enjoyed Yasaka’s influences that have led to new buffet offerings including Asian Braised Short Ribs with Kabocha, Poi Beef Stew and the ever-popular Garlic and Hawaiian Salt Herb Crusted Prime Rib with Horseradish and Au Jus. “He brings a lot of experience to the table,” says The Willows administrative director Garret Kamei of Yasaka, who has served as executive chef at Ocean House and Gyotaku, and also taught at Kapiolani Community College’s culinary arts program. “For the past three weeks, we’ve already seen a vast improvement in the variety of our buffet, and that’s one of things we wanted to change.”

Kamei explains that customers continued to frequent the buffet for its Hawaiian food, curries, prime rib and seafood items, but the restaurant turned to Yasaka with the

goal of rejuvenating the dining experience.

“For the lack of a better term, he offers a wide range of comfort food that old-time kamaaina and local customers will recognize,” says Kamei. “We actually had a longtime customer come in and comment about the beef stew. He said that even his grandma’s beef stew isn’t better than ours, and that’s a big compliment. When you say that somebody’s beef stew is better than grandma’s, that’s unheard of — especially in front of grandma!”

The Willows offers a host of buffet options, including the Lunch Buffet, available Monday through Friday (11 a.m.-2 p.m., $21.95), which features a selection of salads, prime rib carving station, traditional Hawaiian food and a host of dessert offerings. The Saturday Lunch Buffet (10 a.m.-2 p.m., $26.95) sweetens the deal with a seafood sta-

tion that features chilled Snow Crab legs, while the Sunday Brunch Buffet (10 a.m.-2 p.m., $36.95) also includes breakfast favorites and an omelet station.

For dinner, The Willows offers its scrumptious buffet nightly (Monday through Friday from 5:30 to 9 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 5 to 9 p.m., $37.95), and serves up local favorites including ahi poke, kalua pig, sushi of the day, crab legs and The Willows’ famous Fried Haupia.

Keiki ages 4 to 10 receive discounted pricing at each buffet, while seniors ages 65 and over receive 10 percent off all buffet options.

“Nowadays, people don’t necessarily have the time to prepare these items at home, so you can come to The Willows and enjoy them,” says Kamei. “It’s a great time to come back to The Willows.”

The Willows also features its popular “Live at the Willows” series, featuring live Hawaiian music Wednesday, Thursday and Friday evenings from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. in the restaurant’s café. In addition to enjoying pupu and drink specials, diners are treated to the sweet sounds of Na Hoku Hanohano award-winning artists including Herb Ohta Jr. and Jon Yamasato, Maunalua, Lehua Kalima and Shawn Pimental.
