FREESTYLE DANCE 7–12 YRS

Want a great introduction to dance? Explore your creative dance style learning a variety of fundamental dance skills and styles each week. Learn the basic techniques of dances such as Hip Hop, Lyrical, Jazz, and even a little Breakdancing in this introductory class. Have fun dancing to your favourite beats as your instructor helps you break it down into simple steps and provides opportunities to create your own freestyle moves.

HAPPY: HOME ALONE PROGRAM PREPARING YOUTH 9–11 YRS

The before and after school times or occasional outing for parents are easily dealt with when youth are HAPPY, Home Alone Program Preparing Youth! This program, designed by Kathleen Lee, focuses on home and personal safety, and emergency procedures for situations that could occur when youth are home alone. A resource booklet with worksheets and tips, plus a parent and guardian handout is sent home with registrants.

Arcades are gone but arcade games never went out of style! In this program, kids learn how to code fun and exciting arcade games with block code. Students will learn the fundamentals of coding, strategy, and game development while also learning about math and physics. Kids can share the games they make in this program with links. Students will need a laptop or Chromebook.

We’ll introduce our youngest engineers to the fundamental concepts of coding using offline coding games and our Ozobots as well as tablets and our cute Sphero minis. By completing the challenges that awaits our robots, our junior engineers will develop their creativity and problem-solving skills individually and as a team. Parents, please note that this is a drop-off class.

Our young engineers will learn the basics of coding through offline activities then move onto block coding using our Ozobot and Sphero robots and our tablets. Lifelong habits start at a young age. The sooner kids are taught safe bike handling skills, the quicker they develop confidence and ability on their bikes. The focus of this course is to help your kids develop and practice safe cycling habits so they will be ready to learn how to ride with traffic when they are older. Skills are taught through fun games and skillrelated activities. Please note that kids entering our courses should be able to ride a bike without training wheels.

This weekly theatre program will include intermediate dancing, singing, and acting techniques along with a focus on audition skills. The lovely Alison Roberts and Mauve Poulin will bring their show business expertise to a fun-filled class, perfect for the budding star. This class will work towards a small-scale show at the end of the eight weeks.

Ahoy, Matey! Children aged 6-12 years old will learn the basics of sailing from Sail Canada Certified coaches in a unique environment focusing on fun and boating safety. Launching, docking, steering, balancing, and propulsion are just some of the activities covered both on and off the water. This program will focus on creating confidence on-water while having fun in different styles of boats. Theme days, on-water games and activities will make learning to sail a blast! Prerequisites: Children must be comfortable in and on the water.
