The city has $80 million for community projects (anything but roads) over the next 3 years. "Neighborhood Capital Projects Budget" i. There is no formal application process yet; this was just announced ii. Aftyn Giles- Sustainability Coordinator- will be the representative from the Mayor's Office who goes to Oakcliffe meetings c. Lavell is doing a mobile office 1hr before community meetings (OHC) from 6-7PM d. New parking authority management (Ashley Hollaway)- Lawn Street may be getting permit parking soon i. Harry Johnson said Oakcliffe is next on the list for permit parking e. Brady St i. Let the Oakland 2025 consultants know about the newly updated www.rockalley.org site b. The Oakland Business Improvement District (OBID) is doing some public art by the Rock Alley site i. Phil proposed an idea to Georgia Petropoulos Muir, Executive Director of the OBID 1. Large metal trees on the Rock Alley slope for public art that creates shadows/designs on the wall with natural sunlight (at night using artificial lights) ii. The lighting for Rock Alley may be combined with OBID/Innovation Oakland's art project iii. Audio tour with QR code throughout Oakland (put QR codes that directs people to a site with information on the area) c. Request for Proposal (RFP) i. We received sample RFP's from engineering construction companies ii. We have an outline of Rock Alley's RFP iii. Will have a rough draft by next meeting (February 20, 6PM) d. Funding Sources i. Sprout Fund- Seed Award 1. Broad grant geared towards starting something new that yields benefits to the community ii. Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR) 1. Multiple grant opportunities- some can be applied for the feasibility study, and some can be used for engineering the project. iii. Colcom 1. Colcom is looking for environmental projects for trails 2. Environmental Catalyst Grant (Dave got his May 2011) iv. Google.org 1. Science, Technology, Engineering, Math (STEM)
