Oakland Property Progress Report (Brian Hill, 10 minutes): 253 N. Dithridge: ACHD is waiting for the weather to get cold so they may inspect that the furnace is working properly once turned on. No BBI offenses further than the fire escape. The deeds to this property had been misplaced in the owners’ divorce, but a new deed has surfaced in the wife’s name. The wife has since been served, the next step is to wait and see. 3101 Niagara: BBI will have Judge Ricciardi issue an arrest warrant for the owner, Joseph M Slomnicki. BBI will begin brand new citations once this happens. Geof Becker: How do fines get collected? Brian Hill: Through the courts. CJ Liss can be helpful for a follow-up. Geof Becker: Perhaps we can do some additional thinking at a later time on how to ensure fines are being collected. 3421 Parkview: In court recently, owner Nickolas Skolic’s $13,500 fine was reduced to $8,500. Yard weeds were said to be wildflowers. Had the BBI taken color photographs, perhaps this could have been disproven. Kalli Lardas: My neighbor and I went to peek at the abandoned vehicles in the backyard of this property and thought they had been towed. Instead, they were hidden by overgrowth! 3109 Forbes: Site plan approved before the Planning Commission. Oakwatch will check to see if property is still under continuance.
