Are you looking to enhance your skills in your current role or looking for a change of career?

This is an entry qualification into Bookkeeping and Accounting. There are no formal entry requirements. You do not need to have previous Bookkeeping or Accounting experience. A basic level of Maths and English is recommended e.g. Functional Skills Level 1 or GCSE at Grade 3 or Grade D. Applicants should be aged 19+. Access to bookkeeping introduces the role of a bookkeeper and simple bookkeeping techniques.

Course starts in September This qualification will prepare you for junior and entry-level accounting roles. It delivers a solid foundation in finance administration, covering areas such as double entry bookkeeping to basic costing principles and using accounting software. There are no formal entry requirements, but you will need to have completed the AAT Skillscheck (available on the AAT website) at Level 2. You will also need to register as an AAT student.

What you will learn • the role of the Books of Prime Entry • principles of coding • the double entry bookkeeping system • use of the Journal • Control Accounts • to process receipts, payments, purchases and sales invoices • to maintain the Cash Book and Petty Cash Book • to reconcile a Bank Statement with the Cash Book

• to process ledger transactions from the books of prime entry • to extract and prepare an initial Trial Balance • the basic principles of Costing • Cost recording systems • to provide information on actual and expected costs • to work with a Computerised Accounting Software (e.g. SAGE).

In this qualification you will master more complex accounting disciplines including financial processes, advanced bookkeeping, final accounts and ethical practices for accountants. You should have an AAT Level 2 qualification or equivalent. Relevant work experience will be considered provided you have completed the AAT Skillscheck (available on the AAT website) at Level 3. You will need to be registered with the AAT and be a current student in order to sit the assessments. The course consists of seven units and covers: • Accounts Preparation I and II • Cash Management • Costs and Revenues

The Advanced Diploma in Accounting can lead to employment as: • Accounts Assistant • Accounts Payable and Expenses Supervisor • Accounts Payable Clerk • Assistant Accountant • Audit Trainee • Bookkeeper • Credit Controller • Finance Assistant • Payroll Administrator • Payroll Supervisor • Practice Bookkeeper

In this qualification you will cover higher accounting tasks including drafting financial statements, managing budgets and evaluating financial performance, as well as optional specialist units including business tax, personal tax, external auditing and credit management and cash and treasury management. To apply for this course you must have passed the Level 3 Advanced Diploma in Accounting, preferably with a Merit or Distinction and with no resits of Level 3 units. You must have GCSE Grade 4 or C in Maths and English. You must be competent in the use of Excel for accounting purposes. Holders of relevant degrees in Accounting, Business or Finance can apply upon proof of the module units achieved.
