FUNDS RAISED OTMH babies need these light-therapy blankets OTMH’s Maternal Child Care Program needs help funding four specialized blankets called biliblankets that use light therapy to treat jaundice in newborns. Jaundice is a common, temporary condition in newborn infants, affecting both full-term and premature babies. Jaundice occurs when there is a build-up of bilirubin, produced by the normal breakdown of red blood cells, in the blood. Standard treatment is phototherapy, most often with the aid of a biliblanket. Approximately 60% of all babies born have jaundice and left untreated can have long-term effects. Phototherapy blankets cost $10,000 each and OTMH requires four new blankets this year. Your donation today will help fund these critical resources for newborns and ensures they will have the best care possible.
