Reward Trips On Friday 7th July, students from Years 7, 8, 9 and 10 were treated to an End of Year Trip as a reward for their achievements of accumulating an enormous 300 or more VIVOs throughout the year! The students had a wonderful day taking part in a variety of activities from Trampling, Ice Skating and Cinema to Bowling and Thorpe Park.
Oasis Academy Hadley’s Class of 2017 donned their best frocks and suits and descended upon the beautiful grounds of Forty Hall for an evening of glitz and glamour as they celebrated the end of their exams.
The students thoroughly enjoyed themselves and represented the school exceptionally well, with many saying that they would return to do the activities again during the Summer holiday. A huge thanks to Mr Simpson for organising such a great day! “I had never seen such beautifully dressed and styled students. They made us proud. It was a night we all will never forget.” Mrs Eisen
Over the Summer Holidays, Year 6 students starting Year 7 at Oasis Academy Hadley attended a fun filled week of summer school in preparation for September.
The location was stunning, the hall was beautifully decorated with a touch of class and elegance, the music was live, and the dance floor never empty!
Students took part in a number of activities including sports days, arts and crafts sessions, orienteering and discovering activities and even cinema a trip. On the last day students also had a party!
The evening was a wonderful night of celebrating what has been a year of hard work and dedication from both students and staff and was the perfect way to say goodbye! It was truly a night to remember.
The staff of Oasis Academy Hadley are very proud of what the Year 11 students have achieved and wish them well in their future careers.

Whilst students had a lot of fun over the week, they also had the opportunity to familiarise themselves with the Academy as well as some of the staff. Above all, it was an opportunity to meet some of their new classmates, to make new friends and try new things so they can look forward to their first day with confidence. We look forward to seeing you in September!

THE HADLEY WAY
Staff and students at Oasis Academy Hadley have been busy again organising our annual Summer Fayre! Thursday 6th July proved another fantastic family event for the whole community, with activities for children and parents alike.
Outreach Fashion Show & Exhibition Over the summer holidays the young and amazingly talented students of Oasis Academy Hadley took part in the ‘Creative Community Outreach’ fashion design project for 10 days. At the end of the 10 days, we celebrated the work of students during with a Fashion Show and Exhibition. We had a great line up packed with dance groups, spoken word artists, guest designers, a collection produced by Oasis Academy Hadley students and a whole lot more!
There were so many wonderful stalls selling everything from arts and crafts and jewellery to books and much more! There was even a bouncy castle and slide, tombola, raffle, and a face-painting stand! The day would not have been complete without performances from our talent students – they were all brilliant! Well done to everyone and a big thank you to all the parent volunteers who helped out!
The workshop, which consisted of 20 students, aged 12-18, gave the students time to learn the essential designing and making skills needed in order to produce their final designs. Each candidate produced an outfit and mask/accessory set to a specific theme. They showcased their designs on the final day of the workshop in the fashion show and exhibition which their family and friends attended. Students also took part in a photo shoot before the big day allowing them to have their designs professionally presented by emerging models. A big thank you to all those who attended our annual "Creative Community Outreach Fashion Show!

On Monday 10th July, the Year 9 Heroes went on a hygiene and cooking course so that they can start running their own pop up kitchen! Keep an eye out for them at academy open evenings and academic review days, as they’ll be serving something delicious!
Tianna and Elijah report on their day:
“After we had collected Kayra from her class who were making cookies, we all went to the main reception to collect our parents. After two train rides and one tube, we reached the O2 Arena, and got a green wristband – Mr Winstanley had a yellow one whilst parents had blue. Our parents sat on the 2nd floor eating lunch. The guest of honour was Ore Oduba and once our names were called he gave us a £10 WH Smith voucher (our certificates came the next day).

The awards were presented in groups of six, each one followed by a performance. Before the closing speech, Ore gave an inspirational talk. Next, we had to wait in a huge line to get a picture with Ore but it was worth it!”

“When we got to the O2 Arena there was a long line to go in and we got green wristbands and they played a song. There was a load of performances and awards. We were on the fourth awards and I was first. We went on stage and got a letter with a £10 gift voucher for WH Smith. Then the end performance that was the best! Ore told us his life stories and told us we all need to practise and then he taught some people a dance move called the ‘drive’. It was a really long life story. We had to wait in a really long line to take a photo with Ore who was on Newsround and things like that, including Strictly Come Dancing which we won. He needed to practise and practise makes perfect. We took a photo with him and met our parents outside the O2 Arena so we got a train to Stratford then got a train to Ponders End. I thought that it was really fun and I had a good time.” Elijah, Year 6
Year 12 Work Experience Congratulations to Year 12 who completed a very positive and rewarding two weeks away from the Academy on work experience! We have received some fantastic feedback both from students and employers. Ilhan Abukar, winner of the Work Experience Award, was commended for her performance and excellent attitude during work experience. She was highly praised by the Primary School in which she did her work experience. Her employer has given her an open invitation to work with them in the future. Work experience has a very positive impact on students; it gives students the opportunity to develop and gain experience within a work place setting; and importantly, get a taster experience in a careerorientated environment. Again, well done Year 12, I hope that this experience has given you the skills, confidence and motivation to work hard to achieve your goals.

Knit and Natter
We look forward to beating our record next year! If you are interested in being a part of next years team please see Miss Clancey.
Our fantastic Knit and Natter group - made up of the local community, Mums and Nans – had a successful evening at our Summer Celebration! They were selling their own hand knitted key rings, wall art and children’s toys, all of which were very popular. The group is a budding social enterprise and raised a grand total of £248.85, which will be reinvested into group and donated to Oasis Community Hub: Hadley. I would like to say a huge thank you to all of our ‘Knitters’ who worked so hard to create these products, Chaplain Kate, Lena and Frieda for their continued expertise and Laraine for helping to set up the stall. I would also like to thank the Santander Foundation and Ms Dawes for supporting our weekly group. If there are any knitters out there, or anyone who would like to join us, we meet every Thursday in Premier Café at 9am. EVERYONE is welcome!

The project has been part funded by Tesco Bags of Help and will be a chance for the local community to get involved with our students and families. Healthy Eating workshops will be run alongside this.
Who’s at Hadley? This issue we feature one of our oldest groups, AKA Karate Club, run by Irfan Dogan. AKA Karate have been using the Oasis Hadley facilities for the last two years, having been regular users of the old Albany School before that. Irfan teaches Karate to all ages and says, “Karate is a great sport for young people as it teaches them personal discipline as well as keeping them fit.” The classes take place at Oasis Hadley twice a week, on Mondays and Thursdays, 6.30pm to 7.30pm. You can contact Irfan for more details on 07809885132.
