ABOUT ME

I always try to work for those who are struggling with their surroundings, although they are willing to be successful in their future. I usually encourage people to go after their dreams, so that the can have a goal. Besides that as an architect, I do have a huge responsibility to think about the comfort and usability of users. The users can dream, but the job of transforming that dream into reality is the task of an architect. I am a person who can make it easy.

ADAPTING THE PAST WITH CONTEXT: THE HISTORICAL INDUSTRIAL LANE OF KALLANG SINGAPORE

In many high-density developing cities, traf昀椀c congestion is a major problem. As a result, there is air pollution, traf昀椀c congestion, and a decline in the standard of living. How does TOD (Transit Oriented Development), a type of urban design strategy, help to alleviate these issues and develop livable communities there? There have some examples of TOD in neighboring countries of Bangladesh but none in Dhaka although this is one of the largest of them. There is an opportunity to do intense study and development of TOD in Dhaka context. To provide sustainable transportation, transit-oriented development (TOD) has developed into a global urban planning, design, and policy concept. TOD as infrastructure affects urban liveability by determining the style of life and general wellbeing of a city’s inhabitants. (TOD) encourages compact, mixed-use, bikeable, and pedestrian-friendly urban development that is closely connected to public transportation. By offering a more alluring alternative to driving, TOD can help to relieve traf昀椀c congestion in high-density growing cities. There are several methods TOD can aid in reducing traf昀椀c congestion. This design thesis intends for a new urban gateway by adapting a TOD for a high-density city in a developing country. The selection of the site is initiated from the older part of Dhaka, Bangladesh besides the Buriganga River, where future urban growth is envisioned for the densely populated city.

DENSITY SHIFT OF DHAKA CITY WITH INTEGRATED TRANSIT ORIENTED COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT (TOD), BANGLADESH

RE-EXAMINE THE SYLHET CITY MASTER PLAN 2010 AND DESIGN THE PROPOSED RIVERSIDE DEVELOPMENT

OF SHEIKHGHAT AREA, SYLHET, BANGLADESH.

A WELCOME TO THE CITY GATE & UPHOLDING THE HERITAGE

On this busy city of Sylhet, we felt the utmost need of a breathing space where people would 昀椀nd a pause, take time to breathe in nature, try to discover their own selves.

Providing a relaxing space in the picturesque riverbank. Despite being a city on the bank of a river like Surma, people still are not aware of the hidden charm & scenic beauty of this place.

platform to practice art & culture discovering the root & heritage being aware of cultural richness & preserving. Instead of creating scope to preserve and 昀氀ourish this mesmerizing place, we 昀椀nd this place as a congested and polluted commercial zone.

Earlier, when the bridge wasn’t here, the raw materials were carried through river. But, after the construction of the new bridge, we feel the commercial zone on the riverbank to be insigni昀椀cant.

Rather, we propose to replace it on Gotatikor , the truck stand , as the goods are to be carried directly there through the bridge .

A GRAND WELCOME TO THE CITY WITH AESTHETICAL IMPRESSION

Providing breathing space for city dwellers.

Relocating the detached Gohata in one side of the road.

Accumulating the traditional arts & crafts under a pavilion and creating people’s interest.

Reducing chhara pollution by providing roads on both sides of chhara and creating residential area adjacent to them.

Relocate and redesign the age-old sh market and vegetable market of Kazirbazar to ensure.

a pleasant shopping experience.

Providing interactive spaces like bazar and school to the reticent community of Kazirbazar.

Emphasising the historical Sheikhghat and upholding it to the people and visitors.

Focusing on the heritage of Zitu Miah and creating a landmark that elaborates its importance. throughout urban districts.

Connecting important dead end and creating a new road to solve the trac problem in the termination of bridge.

THEATRE COMPLEX, SYLHET, BANGLADESH

The region, which is now called greater Bengal, came under in昀氀uence of Aryan culture during the 4th century AD. Under the Gupta rule Bengal had a 昀氀ourishing economy which led to the rise of a few urban centers where Sanskrit plays were pelformed. Important among them was a Sanskrit play by Chandragornin entitled Lokiinanda.

BRITISH RULE

In medieval period Sanskrit theatre was in low ebb. Later on its practice continued until in the late 19th century when it became extinct because of the advent of European dramaturgy (Ahmed, 1995).

PAKISTAN PERIOD

Bangladesh was then a province of Pakistan having the name east Pakistan. Being a land of Muslim majority, now the Muslim playwrights and directors had a favourable atmosphere to prove their mettle.

IN 1952 THE LANGUAGE MOVEMENT

The upheaval that started in 1952 continued to shake East Pakistan ,afterwards and drama became the medium of protest, either subtly or boldly, against West Pakistan’s suppressive rule. A year after the language movement, on 21 February 1953, ‘Kabar’, a play by Munir Chowdhury.

BANGLADESH PERIOD

In post-liberation Bangladesh, theatre gained unprecedented momentum. The sense of newly gained freedom inspired the dramatists to utilize this medium in every way possible. They began to experiment with new ideas and techniques, but their main objective was to bring about a social change. As there was no bar on theatre practices any more, hundreds of theatre groups. emerged and worked with exuberant vitality. Theatre became a regular affair, although not professional.
