As a member of the Elk’s Lodge, Bob was a founder of Guns N’ Hoses and was recognized as Officer of the Year.

Bob was a loyal Redskins and Nationals fan and loved watching the games with Rita.

The devoted grandfather loved spending time with his family, enjoyed baking, fishing and wood craftsmanship.

Bob and Rita could be found tearing up the dance floor on any given Friday night in their younger years.

Bob was known for his big laugh and even bigger heart, unfailing wisdom, and his storytelling abilities. He will be sorely missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date. Until then, continue to celebrate love and life with those closest to you, just as Bob did.

NEVADA MARY CARPENTER Newark

Nevada Mary Carpenter, age 81, died Tuesday, April 21, 2020, at her home.

Born in Lewes, Delaware, she was the daughter of the late Zed Henry Jarvis and Katherine Ann Smith Jarvis.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John Lee Carpenter, and by two children, Kenny Jarvis and Denise Short.

She is survived by her daughter, Mary Lou Carpenter, of Newark; Jimmy Carpenter, and his wife, Cindy, of Tennessee; and Dennis Carpenter and his wife, Karen, of Berlin.

There are 23 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren, including a beloved granddaughter, Mary Ellen Carpenter-Mayo; a daughter-in-law, Beth Jarvis of Parsonsburg; and son-in-law, Jim Short of Frederick, Maryland.

Also surviving are her sisters, Eloise Carpenter, Ethel Hickman, Lula Hawkins and Hester Jarvis, and brothers, Earl Jarvis, Charles Jarvis and Edward Jarvis, all of Delaware.

There are numerous nieces and nephews.

Also preceding her in death were four brothers, Otis, Harry, Raymond and Thomas Jarvis, and two sisters, Alice Truitt and Ellen Murzyn.

She also leaves behind her dearest and much loved pets, cat, Lovey, and dogs, Coffee and Ellie May.

Nevada had worked many years with the Harrison Group in Ocean City in housekeeping, and at Frontier Town.

She was a devoted member of the First Presbyterian Church in Ocean N. Carpenter

City, the Elks Lodge in Delaware and had been a Cub Scout Troop Leader.

She loved cooking, sewing, gardening and singing. But most of all, she loved her grandchildren and her large family.

A graveside service will be held and will be private for the family. A celebration of life will be announced at a later date.

ELIZABETH DORNAN Bishopville

Elizabeth Dornan, age 86, of Bishopville, died Monday, April 13, 2020, at Coastal Hospice At The Lake in Salisbury.

Elizabeth was born in Lisburn, Ireland, and was the daughter of the late Dermott and Rose Dornan.

She was a retired bank manager from the former Nations Bank and was a member of the Red Hat Society.

She is survived by two sons, Robert J. Dornan (Susan) of Bowie, Maryland, and James P. Dornan of Fairfax, Virginia; three sisters, Patsy Kerr, Kitty Grogan and Enia Mulholland, all of Ireland; three grandchildren, Chason Harrell, Ethan Harrell and Emily Harrell, and a son-in-law, Mason Harrell.

She is preceded in death by her husband, James Dornan; a daughter, Rosemary Harrell; and two brothers, Dermott Dornan and Edward Dornan.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

WILLIAM BLOXOM Newark

William “Larry” Bloxom, age 70, died Monday, April 20, 2020, at Atlantic General Hospital in Berlin.

Born in Lewes, Delaware, he was the son of the late Greer and Colleen Bloxom.

He is survived by his wife, Bonnie Sue Bloxom; and children, Sean G.A. Odegaard and his wife, Debbie, Shane L. Odegaard and companion, Kelly, Michele C. Shaffer and her husband, Bryan, and Skye A. Odegaard; daughter-in-law, Meghan Odegaard; brother, David Bloxom and his wife, Sharon; and brother-in-law, David William Bloxom

Tull.

There are eight grandchildren, Zoe, Jason, Samuel, Nathan, Brianna, Trevor, Wyatt and Manuel, and several nieces and nephews, close friends, including special friends, Robert “Fish” Fisher and Douglas Gibbons.

Preceding him in death was a brother, Roger Bloxom, and a sister, Donna Tull.

Larry was a graduate of Stephen Decatur High School, and received his associate’s degree from Delaware Tech Community College.

He had worked as a police officer for the Town of Berlin.

An avid hunter and fisherman, he was president of the West Ocean City Hunt Club, proud 30-year member of the Berlin Fire Company, and charter member of Berlin FOP Lodge 136.

Larry was a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother, and will be missed greatly.

A celebration of life will be announced at a later date.
