Introduction

Welcome to OCC’s 2017 Kids on Campus Summer Camp programs!! We are excited to offer our community a variety of fun, imaginative, creative, and engaging courses. This year we have some SUPER COOL new additions to the schedule, including Bugaboo & Girl Power Yoga, Horseback Riding, Upcycling Art, Drone Camp, Music Beats Camp, Adventure Camp, Volleyball and so much more!! We are also proud to present 6 new pre-school programs and a bunch of sensory-friendly programs for high-functioning ASD kids. Our entire team here at Continuing Professional Education is dedicated to enriching the lives of our community kids academically, socially, and emotionally. Our camp coordinators, instructors, and counselors embody the compassion and passion necessary to create an atmosphere of connectedness and comfortability so that each child’s individuality is nurtured and respected by all. We are so grateful to all the families who continue to trust us with the hearts and minds of their children and welcome the new and upcoming families into our community with excitement and anticipation for our best Kids on Campus Summer Camp yet! Kids on Campus Policies The Kids on Campus programs are intended to be an educational, fun experience for children. To insure a healthy and happy summer, a few new initiatives are in place:  Registration: A Health & Waiver form must be completed for children 17 & under. This form is available online at www.ocean.edu/cpe.htm.  Emergency Information: In the event of an emergency, it is imperative that the college has current contact numbers. If your number changes, even where you will be for the day, please provide this information to the instructor when dropping off your child.  All campers should pack a snack.  Daily Check In/Out Procedures: All campers must be dropped off and picked up at their classrooms. Students must be signed in and out of camp by a parent, legal guardian or legally designated adult. It is imperative that children are picked up promptly at the end of class. Plan to register early, as class size is limited.

Before camp care is being offered as a service to working parents from 7:30am to 9:00am, Monday through Friday. Supervised activities will be offered in a relaxed atmosphere. Students will be escorted to their morning camp in time for their 8:30am or 9:00am class. Only camps that begin at 8:30am or 9:00am are available for this program. DAILY REGISTRATIONS ARE NOT PERMITTED.

After-camp care is being offered as a service to working parents from 4:00 to 5:30pm, Monday through Friday. Supervised activities will be offered in a relaxed atmosphere. Students will be escorted from their afternoon camp to the after-camp program. Parents may pick up their child no later than 5:30pm. $25 will be charged for late pick-ups. Only camps that end at 4:00pm are available for this program. DAILY REGISTRATIONS ARE NOT PERMITTED.

ADVENTURE Full Day Adventure Camp (Ages 7-13) Sign up for a week of adventure and engaging play traveling to some of the most popular hot spots for kids in the Ocean County area! In this trip-based course, kids will soar high while jumping at Sky Zone, learn new skills while bowling, practice team building to scavenge their way out of Amazing Escape, take a Farm Tour at Silverton Farms, and get their fitness game on out in nature at Jake’s Branch County Park new fitness trail. And of course, experience a laser show at our very own Planetarium. Trips are subject to change. Kids’ Surfing Camp (Ages 10-16)

Our novice through intermediate level surf camps provide the opportunity to learn and practice surfing techniques and lifelong beach and ocean skills to ensure their safety. Our STEM-Friendly camp utilizes progressive skill and team building sessions that educate your child about understanding wave and weather reports, recognizing beach and ocean conditions and safety protocols, surfboard handling and etiquette, wave selection and riding techniques, environmental and conservation tips, interactive games, and more! Camps are subdivided into smaller groups depending on age, ability, and skill set. Requirement: Children MUST know how to swim. All equipment provided: surfboard, leash, and rash guard or wetsuit. Participants are welcome to bring their own rash guard/wetsuit. It’s centered on the NJ Science Standards and will give your child an advantage in the classroom. A science adventure where field trips are taken 4 out of the 5 days. All science topics are addressed combining history with language arts (writing skills). A hands-on approach is used to study science concepts including, but not limited to, coastal geology, beach formation/composition and the habitats of local marine life. The first day is spent in the classroom to prepare for field trips to: Cattus Island, two days at Long Beach Island, and one day at Brigantine National Wildlife Refuge. Kids’ Stand-Up Paddle Boarding Adventure Camp (Ages 8-12) Stand-up paddle boarding is an easy-to-learn activity. This interactive, STEMfriendly activity builds fitness and provides lifelong water skills. Our skill and team building sessions cover equipment familiarization, condition assessment, self-rescue, on & off water safety skills, and local wildlife and eco awareness., and more. Storytime Art (Ages 7-10) In our 5 day class kids will utilize several different mediums to complete a work of art using a meshing of the classic stories, “Alice in Wonderland” & “Wizard of Oz”. The finished work will consist of mediums including painting, collage, and drawing; sparking imaginations as the stories’ characters interact. Drawing From Observation (Ages 9-12) Young art students will be introduced to the classic techniques of using pencil, charcoal and pastels. Participants will experience the thrill of today’s latest drone technology including drones equipped with mini nerf cannons and mini grabbers. It’s all about the grand finale as teams conquer challenges and earn points for the end-of-program event: Ultimate Drobot Games. rones: Fly, Search, Rescue, Create & D Innovate (Ages 9-14) Did you know: drones deliver medical supplies to persons in need? Drones deliver burritos to college students and pizza to families? Drones are deployed and drop lifebuoys to swimmers during a rescue? This program will open the creative minds of participants as they learn all about some of the most fascinating drone solutions to date. Teams will first learn about some of the incredible problems drone technology has solved; and then have the opportunity to interact with inventors currently in the drone industry via video conference. Upon building a base of knowledge, experience and confidence, participants will then fly and code drones as they work together in teams to create their own business, environmental, or safety drone solution. Instructors will challenge teams to focus on the social and ethical responsibilities that accompany the powerful and evolving drone technological advances. Participants will also learn about the tremendous and abundant means through which drones have enhanced first responders and safety throughout the world. Introduction to Computer Animation Ready, Set, Action! In this new program, you will create your own stop motion animation videos, use a stop motion camera, and have fun designing and creating your own videos. Students will learn the basic skills needed to create and animate. Whether you are making a LEGO® brick film; animating in claymation or capturing a flower bloom using time-lapse photography, you can bring anything to life with computer animation. Students will learn to copy, edit, move and delete animation frames. Jazz up your creations by learning to import music and sounds, adding special effects, and more. All students will save their movies to share. Ultimate Teen Challenge: Endurance Training for the Teen Athlete (Ages 11-15) This program focuses on strengthening and conditioning teen athletes who enjoy heart pumping adventures such as triathlons, Spartan races, mud runs and the like. Activities include jump training, circuit training, weight training and other endurance based activities. The last day all participants will race through a campus wide obstacle course putting their new super powers to the test. Are you up for the Ultimate Challenge?! Employer-Sponsored Registration Purchase orders, vouchers and letter of intent (on company letterhead for pre-approved companies only) are accepted by mail or fax. A completed registration form must accompany these documents.

Class Confirmation Course confirmations/registration receipts are emailed upon registration. (Note: a registration receipt can be printed when registering online). It is the responsibility of the student to confirm the start of the course and the room assignment by checking online at www.ocean.edu/cpe.htm. The weekly schedule goes online each Friday. If registration is processed within three days of the start of the class, the student may not be on the class roster and must show payment receipt for the class.

Course Changes/Cancellations Ocean County College reserves the right to cancel a course entirely or to change its time, location or instructor. In the event a course is changed, students will be notified. Notification of course change/ cancellation will be made by postcard or phone call. If a course is cancelled, all registered students will be issued a full refund.

Parents of All Students Under the Age of 18 In case of an emergency, OCC will administer First Aid and/or arrange for transport to a hospital unless otherwise notified. A completed Registration/Health and Waiver Form must be submitted with a child’s registration form.

Student Misconduct Student misconduct on OCC’s campus is not tolerated at any time. All incidents of misconduct are taken very seriously at OCC. For a list of misconduct examples, see the OCC Student Campus Life Policy #5247 at www.ocean.edu. OCC administration will address all Continuing Education (CPE) student misconduct incidents and deal with each situation appropriately.

Refund Policy We will be pleased to offer you a refund or tuition credit for a class ONLY if you withdraw at least four business days, between the hours of 8:00am-4:00pm, prior to the start date of the class. Refunds will be issued within 2-4 weeks based on the original payment method. There will be no refunds issued should a student be dismissed from class for misconduct. There will be no refunds for trips or ticketed events. Student substitutions will not be permitted for courses.
