CARMAX AUTO SUPERSTORE
The CarMax Auto Superstore recently opened at 3853 Plaza Dr. west of Thunder Dr., next door to the Oceanside DMV. CarMax is the nation’s largest retailer of used cars. As the original disruptor of the automotive industry, their “no-haggle” prices transformed car buying and selling from a stressful, dreaded event into an honest, straightforward experience. CarMax has 290 plus cars for sale at the Oceanside location. CarMax has generated 80 new jobs in Oceanside!
IONIS PHARMACEUTICALS NEW MANUFACTURING SITE
Ionis Pharmaceuticals, Inc. has entered into an agreement with Sudberry Properties to develop and lease a new manufacturing site in Oceanside. Sudberry will develop and construct the shell for the approximately 217,000-SF building. Ionis will design and build improvements to customize the facility. Ionis Pharmaceuticals develops cardiovascular and neurological therapies derived from ribonucleic acid or RNAbased technologies. The larger facility will significantly increase Ionis’ development chemistry and manufacturing capabilities. Ionis Pharmaceuticals will bring 200 jobs to Oceanside.
A groundbreaking was held for the new Tri-City Psychiatric Health Facility in Oceanside. Located at the western perimeter of the Tri-City Medical Center campus, the new 13,560-SF, 16-bed facility will provide psychiatric inpatient care to address the region’s need for behavioral health care services. Construction is slated to begin in November.
ALTA OCEANSIDE
Alta Oceanside continues building the residential component of its mixed-use project located at 1015 North Coast Hwy. The Alta Oceanside project consists of 309 apartments with 5,615 sq. ft. of ground-floor commercial/retail wrapped around a five-level abovegrade parking garage with 569 parking spaces for residents, commercial/retail, and residential guest parking. Commercial/retail will be fronting North Coast Hwy. There will be 283 market-rate apartments and 26 affordable apartments, and a second building on the south side of the property that contains ten residential units.

New Tesla Collison Service Center recently opened at 1825 Corporate Centre Dr. in Ocean Ranch Corporate Centre.
Toasted Gastrobrunch + Dinner, recently opened at 339 N. Cleveland St. They serve brunch daily until 3 p.m.; in the evening, the menu transitions to Sammy’s Dinner. Ryes and Grind, a West Coast Jewish delicatessen, recently opened at 236 S. Coast Hwy. in Downtown Oceanside. Naegi, a Japanese fried chicken sando restaurant, recently opened at 1902 S. Coast Hwy. from Chef William Eick of Matsu.
Bungalow 102 recently opened at 609 Vista Way in South Oceanside. Bungalow 102 offers a curated selection of vintage and lifestyle goods.

Dave’s Hot Chicken will arrive in late 2022 at 4225 Oceanside Blvd. in the Rancho del Oro Gateway shopping center. Nektar Juice Bar is coming to 3480 Marron Rd. in the Quarry Creek shopping center. China Fusion is opening its second Oceanside location at 2500 - 2598 Vista Way in the Fire Mountain shopping center. Heritage Barbecue and Brewery at 2002 S. Coast Hwy. in South Oceanside is a Michelin recognized restaurant and was named one of America’s Best New BBQ Spots by Food & Wine Magazine. Rockstar Games has leased 18,537 SF at 3156 Vista Way in the Pacific Gateway Towers II. Crab Pub, a Cajun seafood restaurant, is now open at 3766 Mission Ave., #111, in the Marketplace del Rio shopping center.
