Ο «Φεγγαροπαρμένος» ποιητής «Δημήτρης Σταδάς», ή κατά κόσμον Μαζίτσος Διονύσιος, είναι και συγγραφέας θεατρικών έργων, διηγημάτων και παραμυθιών. Ζει και εργάζεται στην Αθήνα όπου γεννήθηκε, (κατά σατανική σύμπτωση την ημέρα της άλωσης της «Πόλης»). Έχει εκδώσει δύο βιβλία και έχει συμμετάσχει σε δύο ομαδικές εκδόσεις παραμυθιών. Είναι επίσης μέλος του συλλόγου Εικαστικών Καλλιτεχνών Ελλάδος «Ο ΑΠΕΛΛΗΣ», και έχει συμμετάσχει σε ομαδικές εκθέσεις ζωγραφικής.

Preface Once upon a time an insignificant little man was sitting by the roadside on the night of the full moon, when, as if the moon had bewitched him, he started telling fairytales to children …and that was why everyone began to say that the little man was a good man and not so insignificant, after all, and everyone was very pleased with him… And this is one of his fairytales… a tale by a moonstruck man.

nce upon a time, in the far-off but famous land of Rodoupolis, the most wondrous of all the fairytale kingdoms, there lived a king. That king was renowned for his good heart and sound judgement. Everyone said that he reigned fairly and that’s why he was called Judicious. Judicious had a daughter who was very pernickety, stuck-up and spoilt. She sent her servants on extremely peculiar and difficult errands, and as soon as they had carried them out, just to please her, she changed her mind and demanded something else. For example, one day, deep in the heart of winter, she asked them to bring her some strawberries. Yet, when they had managed to fetch some strawberries by ship from a distant land, she changed her mind and asked them to bring her pineapples. So the ship set sail again, but, when it returned, she had changed her mind again and was asking for another kind of exotic fruit! The name of that pampered princess was Rosepetal. Judicious also had a brother, Robwill, who was a very bad man and wanted to rob the king of his throne and take his place. So the day came when Robwill was caught by the palace guards while he was putting poison into Judicious’ glass, and they brought him before the king. Judicious decided to punish his brother by sending him into exile far away, beyond the borders of the kingdom. That was quite a light sentence for such a crime, for which he should normally have been executed. However, as the Royal Court was celebrating the country’s hundredth anniversary of its Foundation at that time, Judicious did not want to cast a shadow over the celebrations with his brother’s death.

Every ten years, the Witch of the Decades, who never grew any older, was invited to the palace by the king of Rodoupolis to predict what would happen in the country during the next ten years. Thus, at the end of the celebrations, Judicious invited her to tell them what she foretold. The Witch of the Decades entered the palace wearing a red dress with a clock on it and a purple hat adorned with another clock. As soon as she came into the Royal Ηall, everyone there fell silent and moved aside to let her through. “Well, what do you foresee for the future of the country?” Judicious asked her. Then, as if from nowhere, a wind blew into the Royal Hall and the clock hands on the Witch of the Decades’ attire began to turn, while the pupils of her eyes narrowed as she rose up into the air... “A terrible war will take place...,” the witch began by saying, “many will die and others will starve, houses will be burnt down and frozen. There will be disaster everywhere! A young lord, the victor of the forthcoming war, will take the place of the king and bring misery to the country.” As soon as the Witch of the Decades stopped speaking and landed back on the ground, the clock hands on her clothes stopped and the pupils of her eyes returned to their normal size. “Is there anything we can do to avert this disaster?” asked the king anxiously.
