HERS & STAUNCH-AS 66Chevelle
GET AMONGST this sneaky cool build!
This was a surprise package when it rolled up next to Steve’s Coupe for a quick photo shoot.
I’ve always liked the Chevelle builds. The olds-cool Muscle Car shape of the sixties has that no-nonsense stance and attitude, complete with a growly V8, big feet and loud exhaust that scares the tree huggers and proudly states, “we drink dinosaurs!”
But what I did not realise is that Angela has built herself the beast of the Chevelle family here. A 454 Big Block, 4 speed slamming manual of a Chevelle.
It’s almost a sneaky little sleeper though with it’s factory finish and stance. If you pulled up beside Angela at the lights, I’m pretty sure your response would be “WTF” when the lights turn green!
You would definitely have to find your “A” game in a hurry or indicate left and pretend nothing was happening anyway! Hahaha.
What I really love about builds like this is the factory appearance. It’s now a full-on Muscle Car and with the SS interior right down the factory bowtie radio still in the dash, the big steering wheel, it still retains the sixties Muscle Car vibe, and that’s cool!
The Hurst badge on the rear tying in the Hurst four speed floor shifter identifying the performance models of the era.
Under the big hood sits the tricked 454ci Big Block Chevrolet detailed just nicely with a polished aluminium inlet manifold and air cleaner. The rocker covers taking on the muscle theme with the polished fins over the black finish and the 454 sitting proud to make you smile!
The MSD ignition system ready to shove a good size spark down them leads, igniting that big block thump to expel via the headers to turn the tree huggers heads!
The un-molested body with the polished trim, Chevrolet badging and big chrome bumpers sits classily in any situation. The pillarless doors and wind down rear passenger windows creating that long roof sports appearance that the two door Chevelles revel in.
It would be a hard call as to which one of this “his and hers” team is the biggest rev head. But I’ve got a funny feeling with Angela’s direction for this Big Block Chevelle, that it could be her with the heavier foot. There’s a cool list of previous cars owned by Angela to know she’s got the rev-head bug as well.
It is definitely a cool mix having a staunch Muscle Car and Deuce Coupe lined up as a His and Her’s pairing, not to mention a 66 Impala for a cruiser to cover the bases.
I can certainly see why neither Steve or Angela yell “shotgun” when heading out anyway. It’s always “we’re taking both!”
