Pre-course virtual sessions Interactive pre-course sessions are scheduled for April and May 2024.
Programme kick-off Isabelle Bester, Headspring team, OECD team The learning journey will start with a kick-off session in which participants will meet the team involved and receive information about the Programme and the resources they will be using. They will learn how we work and what is expected from them.
Ice Breaking and networking Isabelle Bester The Global Management Academy will give you the opportunity to get to know colleagues from across the globe. By the end of the programme, you will all become part of each other’s network, having spent quality time connecting and building new relationships. In this session, we will get the ball rolling on your networking by giving you all an opportunity to learn more about each other through a fun and interactive session. There is no ‘trick’ to effective networking. All you need to do is be curious, listen actively and be ready to share some of yourself: your insights, experience, questions, skills, opportunities, challenges, hopes and fears. By the end of this session, participants should be familiar with thier peers, the work that they do and the organisations they work for.
Geopolitics and economic trends Martin Wolf As the world has been turned on its head as a result of the Coronavirus pandemic and the War in Ukraine, the balance of economics and politics have been tested – what does this mean for policy makers, how does this affect business and what are the potential recovery patterns we are likely to see in various markets? By the end of the session, participants will have a better understanding of how the geopolitical and economic climate could impact their work and their organisation.

How to work and lead in a multicultural context Sonsoles Morales Why does culture matter in high-performing teams? How do different national and organisational cultures approach trust-building? And what can leaders effectively do to create value by leveraging those differences in an era of unprecedented transformation with radical uncertainties? This session will present some of the dilemmas commonly faced by international teams and how to address them. By the end of the session, participants will understand and be able to apply practical techniques to increase their cultural competence and create positive behaviours that accelerate learning and lead to better business outcomes.
Technology trends and its impact Madhumita Murgia There’s a colossal shift going on in technology and specially in artificial intelligence. While advanced language-generating systems and chatbots have dominated news headlines, private AI companies have quietly entrenched their power. A handful of individuals and corporations now control much of the resources and knowledge in the sector — and will ultimately shape its impact on our collective future. By the end of this session, participants will be aware of new advances in technology and who the key player are. They will be able to reflect upon how this could impact their organisation.
Beyond well-being: managing stress and building resilience Marieluise Maiwald What are the main levers that we need to take care of to achieve a personal, professional and social balance in order to sustain and/or improve our work performance? Health, mental control, emotional management and purpose will be some of the issues addressed. By the end of the session, participants will have a better understanding of how well-being affects their performance. They will be able to apply techniques to help them to build up resilience to adapt, thrive, and transform themselves.
Interpreting your Belbin Individual Team Role Report and building your individual development plan Isabelle Bester A foundational aspect of management is self-awareness and awareness of interpersonal differences. In this session, participants will be guided in the interpretation of the results of their Belbin Team Role Inventory Test. This test assesses how they operate in a team environment and their preference for any of the nine team roles identified. By the end of this session, participants will learn how to craft an individual development plan including specific management action points in order to put their development plan into action.

Face-to-face sessions Face-to-face session will take place at the OECD headquarters in Paris from 28 to 31 May, 2024.
Embracing change and executing strategy Daniel Blake In today’s changing environment, every organisation must learn how to adapt, innovate, and evolve to achieve their vision. Anyone who wants to be an active contributor must also be ready to change. It is becoming ever more difficult to establish a ‘competitive advantage’ that allows a company to earn profits and sustain them for any length of time. In fact, what is needed is the ability to ‘think strategically’. By the end of this session, participants will explore different leadership mindsets and how they use them to help them adapt to changing organisational environments. They will learn techniques to develop resilience and become active contributors to accomplish the vision and strategy of their organisation and enhance their leadership skills.
Building relationships and enhancing commitment: how to empower and develop others to achieve results Marieluise Maiwald We are living in a world where strict hierarchy and top-down mandates no longer apply and the diversity in our workplaces requires us all to become more inclusive leaders. Creating environments, where people trust each other to collaborate and be innovative are more important than ever and empowerment should be more than a management buzz word. In this session, we will take inspiration from the corporate world to understand modern management methods such as Psychological Safety, the Empowerment Scale and how to bust Groupthink – to deliver results and create accountability within our teams and beyond. By the end of this session, participants will understand new management methods and be able to apply them in appropraite situations to empower others and achieve results.

Achieving better results through interprofessional relationships and first-class problem solving Wim Focquet Better results depend not only on what we are bringing each day as a single specialist or hard worker. Creating a sustainable positive impact requires the development of strong relationships with all stakeholders. In this session we will tackle two issues: how to build strong networks while building our personal brand and how to solve problems under pressure and in times of crisis, when our most deeply rooted behaviours tend to show up. By the end of this session, participants will discover their own personal brand of communication and learn how to use it to build strong relationships. They will be able to recall and apply new problem solving techniques to avoid falling back on unproductive behaviours.
Agile & lean methodologies for efficiency Teresa Ramos This session is designed for professionals seeking to enhance their skills in operational excellence and efficiency. Participants will gain valuable insights into how to create value by designing, producing, and delivering outputs that meet expectations while optimising the use of resources. The session will cover agility and agile methodologies to improve efficiency, reduce waste, and increase satisfaction, scrum and leanprinciples and techniques, to eliminate waste and maximize value, and value creation by designing and delivering outputs that meet stakeholder needs and exceed expectations. By the end of the session, participants will be equipped with the tools and knowledge they need to drive operational excellence in their organisations.
Compelling communication Matt Boardman Most communication at work fails to do its job. Whether in a formal presentation or an informal conversation, many people understand only their duty to convey information but forget that unless they transmit that information in a sufficiently engaging, clear and concise way, there is a greatly reduced probability that their audience will be persuaded to change their behaviour. In this session, participants will learn and immediately practise expert techniques to communicate, influence and persuade more effectively. They will learn by doing, evaluating their own progress with group video recording and feedback. By the end of this session, participants will recall and use the appropriate communication technique for their situation in order to induce real behaviour change.
