Mauritius is undergoing an economic structural transformation, aiming to become an open and globally competitive economy, positioned as a regional hub for investment. Mauritius is leveraging its robust financial sector while strengthening its compliance with international standards.
The Mauritius Country Programme is designed to support the government’s strategic agenda, “Towards an Inclusive, High Income and Green Mauritius, Forging Ahead Together”. This ambitious Country Programme focuses on a set of policy domains that are relevant to the country’s socio-economic development, including green transition, social welfare, enhanced transparency of public and private institutions, and conformity with international standards. The Country Programme will also support the government’s reform agenda by helping to align its public policies with OECD standards and good practices.
Within its four pillars, the Country Programme foresees a list of 14 projects as well as a co-ordination function to ensure that the Country Programme is implemented and monitored effectively. It is designed to bring a whole-of-government approach so that Mauritius moves towards aligning with OECD standards while supporting their domestic reform agenda.
The projects are aligned with the Africa-OECD Partnership's strategic objectives and thematic areas, offering opportunities to create synergies. Most of the projects will be through technical workshops and dissemination activities involving the participation of selected African regional and country stakeholders.
Background
The projects under this pillar are designed to propel Mauritius towards crossing the high-income threshold in the coming years.
