ANTI-BLACK RACISM RESOURCES
Although media attention tends to focus on the United States, Catholic teachers recognize that violence and discrimination against Black and other racialized people persists in Ontario and Canada as well. We also recognize that it is not enough to call for peace and equality; we must actively work toward justice.
Many teachers have been asking how we may have been complicit in upholding structural racism in our society, schools, and communities. We want to know how we can do more, and positively contribute to the change we want to see.
The following is a non-exhaustive list of materials from various sources that may provide a starting point for you to explore, learn, and build understanding, so we can all stand up and speak out against the discrimination and violence that Black and other racialized people face every day, and begin charting a new path forward.
