The Radical 80’s... no duh!! a color forcast by: makenzie krug

welcome to the 80’s The 80’s feature a growth of technology, enviromental protection, and pop culture. However it wasn’t all neon and big hair. The 80’s featured a huge crack epidemic, as well as oil spils an the Berlin wall crumbling. Although this decade was not always “totally tubular” Ameria still grew as a nation into the 90’s nd 2000’s.

In the 70’s we now have caller id invented in 1976, but we can only go further with this. I think in the upcoming future we will will be wireless. We will not have to carry around a huge cord and hide in the closet while making calls. We will be able to walk freely with no cords and with our friends and family. This advance doesn't stop with phones. The television will become more popular in influencing the 80’s. Reality tv and sitcoms will start to be hit. America will not be able to resist the drama and celebrity scandals of that time. The mobile phone and television will start to take over. Soon every home will have a cordless phone and television.

The 80’s will continue to prove the rise on drug use. In the 70’s drugs were considered glamorous. Slowly but surely drugs will become less and less glamorous. America will start to see the hideous side effects of crack cocaine. Drugs will become an epidemic. One can get addicted to crack the first time they try it. This is because the high is so good and so short lived that they need more of the drug to feel it again. This becomes a vicious, never ending cycle and it ends with death. We will see what comes from the seemingly “fun” high in the 80’s. Crack not only rots your teeth and lungs, it creates a loss of appetite, irreversible brain damage, and paranoid behavior, among other things. Due to the drugs hitting the streets, the violence and crime rates will skyrocket. What will the government think of this? I predict they will arm police with more assault weapons to “pacify” the outbreaks of violence. They will up the laws of drug. Even simple drug charges will have a lifetime of consequences.

In the 70’s we have treated our environment very poorly. We have just barely started to take care of our earth by starting earth day and promoting clean water and air. I predict in the 80’s we will dig deeper into the importance of the environment. The government will start to help out with conservation and maintaining America’s natural resources such as gas, coal, uranium copper, etc. In the 80’s we will deal with loads of chemical pollution due to more cars being driven, which means more car exhaust being released and sadly causing long term effects on Earth. Another factor in our environment is our animals. By the eighties we will have to pass laws protecting endangered species. By 1984 there will be over 300 species endangered and we will attempt to take action on that issue.

The seventies seemed to be full of fun and vibrance, but it’s nothing compared to what the 80’s will be. The 80’s will be a crazy time of wild color and a new found style. One of the new trends will include big hair, for a big time. I think the women will love the kinky curly long hair and the men will rock the short cut in the front and longer in the back. Everyone will have such a good time, they will dress like it too. They will ditch the corduroys for tight pants and leg warmers. Not everything will completely change, the high waisted trend will not disappear. This is a time of showing curves and embracing it. A party outfit will soon be a bright outfit, with lots of layers, hair as big as possible, scrunchies, leggings, leg warmers, etc. They 80’s were tons of fun and everyone dressed like the fun as well.

totally tubualr trends
