The meter enables you to highlight, control and optimise power electronic devices, systems and industrial installations which in turn can have a major impact on your energy bills. Simple, user programmable, multi-function drives The latest development from Electromen is a range of DC motor controllers designed for applications where specific set functions are required. The separate interface unit is used for easily adjusting and copying parameters on the drive and also for monitoring dynamic values during system setup. After the application specific settings have been made by the user these settings can be reliably uploaded directly from the interface unit hugely reducing setup times for multiple drives with the same set values. The drive has adjustable acceleration and deceleration ramps for

smooth starting and stopping. There are also two adjustable set speeds which are useful for positioning applications. The drive is bi-directional with individual limit switch inputs for both forward and reverse drive. For protection the drive has a fault output terminal which is activated on current limiting and over-temperature.

Level control by pressure measurement Hydrostatic pressure can be used for level control of liquids stored in tanks by measuring the static pressure the liquid applies. Tecsis offer a range of sensors suitable for applications where a standard mechanical level switch or level sensor is not suitable. This could be for various reasons i.e.: corrosive liquids such as acids, high temperature liquids used in food processes or clean environments such as pharmaceutical production. By combining the sensor with the ‘weld-in’ thread adapter the sensing face is presented to the tank contents with a FKM seal to keep dirt ingress to a minimum. Space saving flat geared motor The new 317-series flat bodied, low profile, geared motor is ideally suited to applications where weight and space are at a premium and there is a requirement for low speeds with high torque from a compact unit. The motor is available in both 12V & 24V dc providing 4Nm nominal torque at 25rpm and a stall torque of 12Nm. All round safety with Sendix encoders The new SIL approved Sendix Encoder from Kubler offers full functional safety using absolute positioning. The Sendix SIL encoder obtains safe information using absolute positioning; the controller counts the incremental pulses and compares the result with the absolute position which is also provided by the same encoder. Safety goes much further than the positioning; the encoder features a rugged, reliable interface and an ability to withstand high mechanical as well as electrical loads. Thanks to the extra strong bearings in the Safety Lock™ design the result is a very high degree of accuracy and a long service life. Key settable, switch point, gauge Alarm contact gauges from Tecsis provide on-off switching control of systems in an easy to use format that makes them suitable for industrial and process applications. The bourdon tube measuring principle used make the alarm contact gauges especially suited to gas monitoring systems. The principle of operation is simple, remove the adjusting key from its holder in the connector and move the set pointer on the gauge dial to the desired pressure. When the indicating pointer comes into contact with the set point the in-built switch will open or close and change the sequence of the process or machine. High viscosity screw flow meter The VHS series flow rate transmitter from Honsberg was especially developed for the metering of viscous fluids. The unit works volumetrically according to the principle of screw transmitters, has high accuracy and is largely independent of viscosity. The media enters the flow chamber and causes the two interlocked screws to rotate. A hall sensor mounted outside the chamber detects the movement of the screws which corresponds to two pulses per turn. Position and measurement! Introducing Reer’s Metron light-curtains for measurement, automation and control. The Metron system is ideal for both industrial and civil applications where it is necessary to detect, measure and recognise objects. Metron detects the number and position of the beams as they are interrupted by an object and then provides this information in real time directly to a PLC or PC. All the operating functions are integrated into the receiver therefore the system does not need to be connected to an external control unit. The system is equipped with an RS-485 serial output and/or 0/24V PNP solid state output through which all the relevant data can be transmitted to the PC/PLC. The output and operating modes can be programmed via the Metronconf special software supplied with each light curtain. It can be installed on any PC and it is provided with a user-friendly graphic interface.

This can be useful for: • Object detection (present or absent)

• Detecting the shape or profile of an object

• Object or batch counting

• Dimensional measurement of an object

• Detecting the position of an object

Measurement of the height of objects in transit on conveyor systems.

Interface relay has even better low level switching reliability

Multi point contact blade

Reliably switching low level PLC signals can sometimes be an issue when using standard relay contacts. Releco solved this problem with a new design “multi-point contact” and this is now standard on their C9 family of miniature 4 pole interface relays.

The previous contact design was smooth and only offered one point of contact during operation. The “multi-point contact” has a grooved surface that effectively increases the number of contact points and contact surface area. This ensures better switching reliability of lower level signals without compromising the maximum current rating. The C9 relays have a gold flashed contact as standard but can also be supplied with gold plated contacts.

Ultra slim, pancake profile, DC motors The GP series from Printed Motor Works (PMW) is totally enclosed and can provide a cost effective servo capability. Using flat armature technology the motor is ideally suited to general purpose applications. The range is available in 9cm, 12cm and 16cm armature diameter sizes with either standard ferrite magnets (GPM) or high power neodymium magnets (GPN). Combined energy & time meter The new HW66 has a dual display for both kWh and time giving reliable measurement of energy consumption and hours run in one unit. The electromechanical displays show both measured values even when no voltage is present so readings are secure and in accordance with PTB standards as there is no way to reset the meters. Developed in accordance with the European Measuring Instruments Directive (MID), they meet the legal requirements for accuracy necessary for official energy billing applications. They are ideal for equipment with high energy consumption that requires an exact, traceable calculation of running costs. Because plant and equipment do not always run at full speed, counting the hours run does not automatically reflect the actual costs incurred. Enclosure solutions for the food & agriculture industry OEM is able to offer a wide range of enclosure solutions from Ensto for use in harsh environments including applications in the food and agriculture industry. The Ensto production units are located in Finland and Estonia and utilise the latest robot technology. Automatic robotic cells are used for customising thermoplastic enclosures and manufacturing steel enclosures. The sheet steel bending cells provide flexible dimensioning without tool changes and laser cutting technology allows freely customised shapes without long set up times. Thermoplastic boxes are produced using a modular tooling structure allowing cost efficient mould modifications on any side of the enclosure.
