Internships

Your parents, teachers and counselors all say it because it’s true. Internship experiences set you apart. According to recent results of a National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE) Job Outlook survey, “Internship experience is the most influential factor employers consider when deciding between two otherwise equally qualified job candidates.”

Belmont places a priority on providing you with such hands-on experiences in your chosen field. In fact, many of our majors require internships as part of your coursework, and with more than 53,000 businesses in our region, Nashville companies and organizations actively recruit Belmont students for intern positions. Plus, our Belmont USA programs offer students semester-long internship opportunities in cities across the country.

“During my time at Belmont I interned at many places around Nashville both in and out of the news and media industries. This set me up for success in my senior year when I interned with ABC News both in New York through the Belmont USA program and remotely. These internships have opened several doors for me postgraduation to full-time job offers with the top-rated news outlet!”

REVIEWED / USA TODAY

NASHVILLE, TN

“I work in journalism, and critical thinking skills are essential for brainstorming article topics, asking the right questions during interviews and crafting a narrative that’s both accurate and resonant with our readers. So many things shape how I need to assign, write and edit stories—all things I learned how to see in English classes, like how to take into account the audience, the social context, reader intentions versus author intentions, language, etc.”

“One special thing I got from Belmont was my training - it allowed me to do 8 shows a week as Elphaba in the national tour of “Wicked,” which is extremely difficult, but it’s because I have that classical foundation. I also love that I wasn’t confined to one thing, but was exposed to so much creativity and able to embrace many opportunities.”

“The knowledge and experience I gained through Belmont’s Entrepreneurship program gave me the tools necessary to launch a business and reach heights higher than I could have ever imagined!”

“I knew I wanted to pursue a graduate degree when I got to Belmont. The curriculum and learning processes I was taught at Belmont more than prepared me to be successful at the next level. I was able to do effective scientific research, challenge myself academically, and pursue other interests outside of my major. I feel as if I missed out on no opportunities with my Belmont career.”
