Welcome to Belmont University’s Mike Curb College of Entertainment & Music Business. At the Curb College, we successfully combine academic experience with real world applications and achieve our mission by implementing innovative courses of study in the entertainment, media and music industries. Our college boasts an impressive faculty of academic scholars, authors, media journalists, entrepreneurs, filmmakers, songwriters, producers, publishers, and recording engineers, and we equip our students with world-class equipment and facilities recognized at the forefront of the entertainment industry. I love to share that I am a graduate of Belmont University with a double major B.B.A. in music business and business management. I spent over 30 years on Music Row in Nashville serving as both a record label and music publishing executive, and I feel the education I received and the relationships I made at Belmont University allowed my career dreams to come true. It is an honor to now serve as dean, and I am convinced that I am here because it is my time to give back, share my real world experience with our students and ensure that we continue the great Curb College tradition of combining classroom learning with a mixture of unique, hands-on opportunities. SONGWRITING

ALUMNI TESTIMONIALS ANNA WEISBAND Music Business, 2016 | Vice President, THiS Music

“Here at THiS Music I participate in all A&R duties including talent discovery, collaboration creation, artist/writer management and song placement. Working alongside the Head of Sony/ATV Nashville and co-founder of THiS Music, Rusty Gaston, we focus on managing our roster of songwriters from booking their calendars to strategically positioning them and their songs for success. If it weren’t for a paper I had to write for my Survey of Music Business class, I may have never met Rusty. I interviewed him for a final paper that semester, which turned into an internship, which turned into my position here at THiS today!”

K AY L A B R A X TO N Mass Communications, 2013 | Ringside Announcer, WWE/NXT

“The thing that makes Belmont’s Mass Communication program stand out from the rest is the genuine care that is passed from the professors to the students; the department feels like one big family! Belmont University’s Mass Communication professors have such passion for the industry and demonstrate that passion by investing wholeheartedly in the students. During my time with the program, I always knew I could rely on them for direction and I never felt like I was an inconvenience. Because of the education I received and the constant hands-on experience I was offered, I landed my first job out of college hosting my own show at a top 20 television market, and now I’m blessed to be part of the WWE/NXT family as a Ringside Announcer.”

KELLEN SCHNEIDER Motion Pictures, 2017 | Development Assistant, Big Breakfast Productions

“The most valuable aspect of the Motion Pictures program is, without a doubt, the insight each professor has to offer. These aren’t just academics teaching hypotheticals straight out of textbooks—they’re industry professionals with years of experience that they’re passionate about passing on to the next generation. I came to the program never having seen a classic film and with little to no knowledge of the industry, and here I am four years later, writing this at a desk on Sunset Boulevard and getting paid to work in the entertainment industry. As a student, I even spent a summer interning in Hollywood at Funny or Die which gave me the hands-on skills I needed to fulfill my current role as a Development Assistant. Thanks to the Motion Pictures’ team, I was well prepared to provide script coverage, answer the many daunting phone calls and handle day-to-day tasks only found in the film industry. Rather than just teaching you how to get a job, Belmont’s program teaches you how to interview well, get the job, keep the job and excel at the job.”
