At the Gordon E. Inman College of Health Sciences & Nursing, we know the future of health care is likely to have more in common with a sophisticated, team-based sport than with the disconnected, specialty silos where we practice today, and we are uniquely positioned to prepare practitioners to meet the challenges ahead. Our faculty and students actively engage with community partners locally and around the globe, working to accommodate the everchanging practice and leadership demands of health care reform, rapid technology integration, big data and shifting population characteristics. This work is supported by University leadership and led by talented faculty and staff who are dedicated to maintaining the longstanding tradition of practicing excellence, genuine compassion and respect for human dignity for which our graduates are recognized. We offer exceptional, team-based learning opportunities with colleagues in nursing, occupational therapy, pharmacy, physical therapy, public health, sports science, social work, theology, health care business and law both on our campus and in clinical and practice sites around the world. Our Simulation Center, first in the mid-state region to achieve early accreditation, offers students extensive options for mastering and integrating complex skills and critical thinking in a safe environment without fear of harm to a patient. Our study abroad and health care missions programs continue to grow and provide students with essential opportunities for understanding the impact of culture, resources and policies on the health and well-being of populations as well as the leadership skills that will be needed in the global world of tomorrow. We are indeed fortunate to be located in Nashville, Tennessee, a recognized health care hub that is home to more than 300 health care and health care-related companies. Because of this, rich opportunities exist for students to be involved in some of the most innovative thinking, discovery- and practice-based health care experiences to be found. These experiences are integrated into traditional and hybrid formats geared to accommodate active schedules. Whatever your interest or your expertise level, whether you are a traditional freshman, a seasoned professional who wants to advance your career, or considering a career change, I invite you to explore our programs.
