The abstract paintings of Brady Haston and the photographic abstractions of Robin Paris and Tom Williams provide a new perspective for interpretation of our environment. Reception: Thursday, September 21, 4–6 p.m. Gallery Talk at 5 p.m. Leu Art Gallery in the Lila D. Bunch Library
Tatiana Potts: Glimpse of Tajtania
Monday, September 25–Friday, October 13
TATIANA POTTS: GLIMPSE OF TAJTANIA
Tajtania is an imaginary world that draws from historical architectural forms and merges the artist’s experiences from opportunities to live, travel and study in different places. Glimpse of Tajtania represents the essence of a city that will never be built yet has the potential of continuous change. It is an effort to create a phenomenological space that can be experienced by viewers based on their own familiarities. Artist Reception: Thursday, September 28, 4:30–6 p.m. Artist Talk at 5 p.m. Gallery 121 in the Leu Center for the Visual Arts Monday, October 23–Friday, December 8
PAPER DOLLS BY RORSHAK
RORSHAK: Paper Dolls
Recent photography by RORSHAK (Rory White) depicting epic narrative portraiture crafted from paper doll figures set in elaborate miniature installations. In addition to the large-printed photographs, the exhibit will include a constructed sample set to further demonstrate the artist’s process. Artist Reception: Thursday, October 26, 4:30–6 p.m. Artist Talk at 5 p.m. Gallery 121 in the Leu Center for the Visual Arts Monday, October 30–Friday, December 8
MCLEAN FAHNESTOCK AND SARA SCHNECKLOTH
Robin Paris and Tom Williams: Monuments and Structures
Working in various media, McLean Fahnestock and Sara Schneckloth explore the deep mysteries surrounding our natural world. While Fahnestock investigates the power of the ocean and the duality that exists in the therein, Schneckloth is inspired by relationships between biological and geological forms and processes. Artists Reception: Thursday, November 2, 4–6 p.m. Artists Talk at 5 p.m. Leu Art Gallery in the Lila D. Bunch Library

THREE SISTERS *
by Anton Chekhov, adapted by Sarah Ruhl A Collaboration with Verge Theatre Transplanted from their beloved Moscow to a provincial Russian town, three sisters—school teacher Olga, unhappily married Masha, idealistic Irina—yearn for the city of their childhood, where they imagine their lives will be transformed and fulfilled. Three Sisters is the portrait of a family grappling with the bittersweet distance between reality and dreams. THE IMPORTANCE OF BEING EARNEST
by Oscar Wilde A madcap farce about mistaken identities, secret engagements and lovers' entanglements retold through a contemporary lens. Cecily Cardew and Gwendolen Fairfax are both in love with the same mythical suitor. Jack Worthing has wooed Gewndolen as Ernest while Algernon has also posed as Ernest to win the heart of Jack's ward, Cecily. When all four arrive at Jack's country home on the same weekend the pandemonium breaks loose. Only a senile nursemaid and an old, discarded hand-bag can save the day! Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for faculty, staff, senior citizens, alumni and non-Belmont students, and free for Belmont students. Black Box Theater November 10–11 & 16–17 & 19 at 7:30 p.m. November 11–12 at 2 p.m. November 18 time is to be announced. Check the website, box office or Facebook for the announcement.
