JAMES KUOL MAKUAC: OUR DIRECTIONAL LIGHT: THE MOON AND STARS One of the relocated Lost Boys of Sudan, James Kuol Makuac uses paint and canvas to tell the story of his difficult past and the joy and security he has found in his adopted home of Nashville. COLLECTING POLITIC, SELECTIONS FROM RONNIE STEINE’S POLITICAL ART COLLECTION Former Vice Mayor Ronnie Steine shares selections from his unique and eccentric collection of political art, ephemera and memorabilia. Ranging from local politics to events rooted in American history, Steine’s collection tells a story about his relationship with artists and politicians and his passion for collecting. The tragic opera was first performed at Mr. Josias Priest’s Boarding-School for girls in 1689. METAMORPHOSES* By Mary Zimmerman Set in and around a large pool of water onstage, this adaption is both classical and contemporary, retelling the ancient myths with modern American sensibility much the same way Ovid retold the Greek myths for Romans. The use of the water illustrates and represents the transformation and change found in the ancient writings. Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for Faculty, Staff, Senior Citizens, Alumni and non-Belmont students, and free for Belmont Students. GENE KELLY:THE LEGACY* An evening with Patricia Ward Kelly Biographer and film historian Patricia Ward Kelly takes audiences behind the scenes and shares an intimate story of her late husband Gene Kelly, the man who helped create some of the most memorable scenes in film history. This unique, live performance combines rare and familiar film clips, never released audio recordings, memorabilia, and personal insights culled from hours of interviews with her husband. Tickets are $30 for adults, $15 for Faculty, Staff and Alumni and $10 for students. Belmont students may receive a ticket to the Saturday matinee for no charge. THE TWO GENTLEMAN OF VERONA* By William Shakespeare Thought to be Shakespeare's earliest surviving play, this comedy is filled with passionate lovers, women disguised as men, sword fights, sudden revelations and a happy ending, all underscored by a farcical subplot featuring Launce and his dog Crab. Tickets are $8 for adults, $4 for Faculty, Staff, Senior Citizens, Alumni and non-Belmont students and free for Belmont Students. FOR STUDENTS INTERESTED IN APPLYING FOR ADMISSION TO THE COLLEGE OF VISUAL AND PERFORMING ARTS FOR 2014–2015 Prospective students must apply to the university and audition or submit a portfolio for admission to the CVPA. For more information on the application and audition or portfolio review process, please visit www.belmont.edu/cvpa.

DEPARTMENT OF ART All prospective students, except for those majoring in Art History, must submit a portfolio of 20 images, either on a CD mailed to the department or uploaded to a URL site. Choose your best and most recent works and include a diverse range of media. Portfolio submissions are accepted throughout the school year, but the priority deadline to be considered for the Leu Art Scholarship is December 1, 2014.
