COMMUNITY SERVICE AND CAMPUS LIFE Service to others is at the heart of pharmacy education at Belmont. While the primary focus of the College of Pharmacy is to prepare students for professional practice as pharmacists, our Christian values create an environment where students can explore their passions and develop their talents to meet the world’s needs. At Belmont, you will be challenged to incorporate core values of integrity, inquiry, collaboration, service and humility into your career preparation and daily life. Students will find a multitude of opportunities to serve the Nashville community through various student organizations in the College of Pharmacy and at Belmont, and to participate in student mission trips. Recent trips have been to countries such as Guatemala, Honduras and Cambodia. The opportunities for service learning are integral to the student experience both inside and outside of the classroom. While community service is a leading co-curricular activity for Belmont students, campus life also includes concerts, theatre performances, art exhibits, intercollegiate and intramural athletics, world renowned speakers, cultural events and more. Belmont’s entire campus is available to pharmacy students and packed with opportunities. Health and wellness is supported by daily group fitness classes, personal training options, a recreational gym, workout room, racquetball courts and even an on-campus climbing wall for adventurous types. Campus dining includes a half dozen fast food restaurants and an immaculate cafeteria. And Belmont’s Nashville location affords students an endless list of things to do—music venues, professional sports teams, hiking, historical sites, unique restaurants and shopping.

TRACY FRAME, PharmD, BCACP Associate Professor of Pharmacy Practice My goal as a faculty member is to provide a wide array of experiences that will help educate, challenge and shape students into highly qualified, compassionate and forward-thinking pharmacists. I love working alongside students in the classroom, at my clinic site and in health care missions to help them gain empathy and understanding towards the patients they will serve in the future. Nothing is more rewarding to me than to watch students graduate who truly want to make a difference not only in pharmacy, but in the world.

Belmont University College of Pharmacy provides students with top-rated education in the classroom, as well as outside of the classroom. In the classroom, we pride ourselves in being student-centered and providing students with every tool needed in order to be the best pharmacist for their patients. Outside of the classroom, we provide students with opportunities to serve their communities both locally and internationally. A graduate from Belmont University College of Pharmacy will be well-rounded and prepared to enter their career with the best education available.

EDGAR DIAZ-CRUZ, PhD Associate Professor of Pharmaceutical, Social & Administrative Sciences As Associate Professor in Pharmacology and Director of Co-curricular Experiences, my duties are to educate student pharmacists on how medications exert their biochemical or physiological effects, and to provide guidance to students in the development of their professional stewardship through extracurricular experiences so that they might identify personal strengths and opportunities. Since 2012, I have partnered with Nashville CARES and the Tennessee Department of Health to certify student pharmacists in HIV testing and counseling and, through this community outreach, I have been able to teach the impact of both the social and cultural environments on health outcomes. Reminding students that, while scientific advances have made it possible for pharmacological agents to heal the body, some patients might still have a hurting soul; ultimately, my mission is to serve as a role model not only in the classroom, but as a health care professional who embodies the Christian values of integrity, compassion and humility.

ALUMNI TESTIMONIALS M AT T H E W T R A C Y Class of 2013 At Belmont I felt like I was a part of a family from day one. The staff and faculty care about you as a person, you’re not just a number in a seat. They prepared me for everything, and if I had to go back and do it all again, I would still choose Belmont.

EFFIE BERRY Class of 2017

Upon graduation from Belmont, I began my career as a pharmacist with Walgreens. Within a year of graduation, I was promoted to pharmacy manager. (Management Track for the win!) I use the knowledge, skills and confidence I gained at BUCOP every single day to provide the best patient care possible and to be the best leader I can be for my team.

ANDREW DOUGLAS Class of 2018

Enriching is how I would describe my time at Belmont. I learned many practical things in the classroom, however all of my experiences outside the classroom allowed me to explore the field of pharmacy and better understand the many different areas in which pharmacists can provide care. From the experiential rotations I completed to inter-professional events, Belmont University College of Pharmacy prepared me to be a practitioner with diverse and enriching adventures inside and outside the classroom.

TAY L O R M C K E N Z I E S U L L I VA N Class of 2019

Choosing to attend Belmont University College of Pharmacy is one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. The faculty and staff invested themselves in my classmates and me to help us grow personally and professionally. I could not have chosen a program to better prepare me for the field I’m in today.
