WHAT MAKES US UNIQUE? Students studying psychology at Belmont University come from all over the U.S. and have a variety of career goals. Many of our students are interested in clinical or counseling psychology and pursue graduate studies and careers in those areas. However, we also have students who are preoccupational therapy, pre-physical therapy, pre-med, pre-law, or who wish to pursue a career in other areas of psychology including child psychology, industrial-organizational psychology, social and personality psychology, or marriage and family therapy. Our curriculum is structured according to guidelines from the American Psychological Association and provides hands-on, high impact experiences that will make you competitive for excellent jobs and quality graduate programs. Our laboratory facilities are some of the finest for undergraduate education in psychology. You can research questions such as: “How do brain waves change during sleeping and dreaming?” “How are attention and concentration processes affected while playing action and non-action video games?” “How do you train rats to solve problems in a radial arm maze?” These and many other questions can be explored with faculty and other students in our courses and laboratories. In studying psychology at Belmont, you can also study abroad, work in exciting internship placements, form lasting friendships and engage in community service.
