How to fix Skype speaker problems and improve call quality If you’re chatting on Skype and having trouble hearing your friends we’ll help you get it fixed in no time. When your friend talks into a microphone the sound is carried accross the internet and played through your speakers. So if you’re having sound trouble it’s usually because of a problem with the microphone or the speakers. First of all, open Skype. Go to Tools > Options > Audio Settings and push the play button. Just send them to www.skype.com/ support and tell them to search for call quality, and they can find out how to fix it.

If you didn’t hear sound here’s what you need to do:

If you’re using external speakers or, even better, a Skype approved headset make sure they’re switched on and the volume turned up. Make sure they are plugged into the correct socket on your computer. That usually means putting the mini-jack into the green socket. Check the volume controls on your computer are turned up and not on mute, both in Skype and on your computer. Finally go back to Skype and try playing a sound in the same way you did before. If you still can’t hear any sound check you’ve selected the correct speakers to use with Skype. If you are still having trouble hearing your friends on Skype internet calls go to to www.skype.com/support and search for “call quality”.
