REFINED LIVING
Enabling you to enjoy the timeless design and exceptional craftsmanship of our collections beyond the bathroom and kitchen, in 2022 we unveiled Lusso Living - our first homeware range expertly carved from the finest Arabescato, Carrara, Nero Marquina, Pietra Grey, and Crema Marfil marble.
Here we highlight some of the most coveted pieces from the current collection, and give you an exclusive preview of Lusso Living furniture that will be launched later this year.
ELEGANT ACCENTS
Designed to create visual cohesion across living spaces, the range offers decorative accessories that showcase the natural beauty of flawless marble while adding the ideal finishing touches to any interior. Including spherical and cube candle holders, tall and oval vases, and ornate wine and champagne bottles carved from solid blocks of marble, each piece is reassuringly heavy, satisfyingly smooth and tactile, and features patterns that are only found in the highest quality marble.
FUNCTIONAL HOMEWARE
Providing practicality as well as enduring style, the range also includes functional items that incorporate premium marble into your daily life. Featuring classically shaped fruit bowls and minimalist cutlery holders to adorn your dining tables, as well as simple yet beautiful marble waste bins, each piece offers form, function, and comes with a lifetime guarantee as testament to the enduring quality of the natural stone.
For those looking to provide the same level of luxury for their pets, the collection also includes a selection of dog bowls carved from our most popular marble types.
PRACTICALITY AND ENDURING STYLE INCORPORATING PREMIUM MARBLE INTO YOUR DAILY LIFE
LUXE FURNITURE
Lusso Living also features our first side tables that perfectly complement our wider marble range across bathrooms, kitchens, and living spaces. With a circular surface and hourglass base, the sleek table design enhances both traditional and contemporary interiors while ensuring that essential items are well within reach.
Later this year, the collection will be expanded even further with the launch of our premier range of Lusso coffee tables, console tables, and dining tables that epitomise our signature aesthetic of understated elegance. Each investment piece is crowned with a single slab of immaculate marble to create a stunning design statement within the most luxurious settings, providing incredible strength, durability and unique patterning that ages beautifully over time.

THE CARBON AGE
DISCOVERED BY THOMAS EDISON IN 1879, CARBON FIBRE IS NOW USED IN EVERYTHING FROM VIOLINS TO FURNITURE, BUT IT’S THE AUTOMOTIVE INDUSTRY WHICH CONTINUES TO PUSH SO MANY OF THE MATERIAL’S BOUNDARIES
Today we know carbon fibre through its many applications - notably reducing weight in everything from planes to sports equipment. While its modern day uses are exotic and cutting-edge, its invention was an accident.
American inventor Thomas Edison stumbled upon a carbon fibre precursor while experimenting with lightbulb filaments in 1879. When superheating splinters of bamboo, he produced strands of carbon that could withstand high temperatures and conduct electricity. Physicist Roger Bacon expanded on this in 1958, creating whiskers roughly 10 times the tensile strength and more than three times the stiffness of steel. Researchers eventually learned how to manufacture these carbon whiskers into a pliable weave, chemically bonding them
to substances like plastic to create the composite materials we use today.
A global leader in the development of carbon fibre for automotive uses, Bugatti shares an equally innovative streak with Edison and the scientists who have developed the material.
Founded in 1909 by the Italian-born industrial designer Ettore Bugatti, the brand has been shaped by generations of the family - notably Ettore’s son Jean, the creator of one of the most beautiful cars ever - the Type 57 SC Atlantic. Today, Bugatti continues to push the boundaries of automotive design while still inspired by the marque’s earliest designs.
Described as an automotive solitaire, the Bugatti Chiron Profilée is a one-ofa-kind member of the Chiron line-up.
BUGATTI CONTINUES TO PUSH THE BOUNDARIES OF AUTOMOTIVE DESIGN WHILE STILL INSPIRED BY THE MARQUE’S EARLIEST DESIGNS
One of the final W16-powered Bugattis, it builds on 2020’s Chiron Pur Sport with its 6ft-wide fixed rear wing, shorter gear ratios, advanced magnesium wheels and raft of other innovations designed for cornering.
When customers asked if a Chiron could integrate aspects of its character while maintaining the model’s timeless elegance, the Profilée was born.
Auctioned by RM Sotheby’s in February 2023, this one-of-a-kind car features a carbon fibre body and sweeping fixed tail at the rear, which
ensures stability and control right up to the Profilée’s 380kmh top speed by increasing downforce over the rear axle, and uses negative pressure to suck hot air out of the engine compartment – which is covered with carbon fibre - via two interior tunnels.
At the front of this unique hypercar, the Profilée was given wider air inlets and an enlarged Bugatti horseshoe grille to help funnel more cooling air into the radiators. A revised carbon fibre front splitter works in tandem with a sculpted underbody to further increase downforce and maximise airflow. As with any Bugatti, the mastery of airflow for both cooling, drag reduction and downforce is fundamental in delivering extraordinary performance.
In character, the Profilée maintains much of the purity of the Pur Sport; designed for lateral grip and ultimate acceleration. It is powered by the same 1,500 PS development of the Bugatti W16 engine, with 15% shorter transmission ratios than the Chiron Sport. The Profilée accelerates from 0 to 100kmh in 2.3 seconds and up to 200kmh in 5.5 seconds.
It is presented in Argent Atlantique, a colour exclusively developed for this car. The lower section is finished in exposed carbon fibre, with the wheels finished in a shade of Le Patron created to match the carbon tint of the lower half of the body. Polished aluminium elements reflect the famous shape of the Bugatti grille.
Meanwhile, the interior of the Profilée is finished by hand at Bugatti’s atelier in Molsheim. Designed around high-quality materials - including carbon, leather and aluminium - each component is worked and refined by hand. Craftsmen follow the philosophy of defined minimalism, reducing each component to its simplest and most beautiful form.
TAKE TO THE SKIES
First-class experiences differ greatly across the world’s mostrenowned airlines, as do their price points. From a few small comforts to the ultimate luxury, choosing the right airline is key to ensuring you arrive at your destination relaxed, revitalised and ready to make the most of your time away from home.
First-class begins the moment you enter the airport – and even before should your airline include a chauffeur-driven transfer. Reduced or non-existent wait times at security and concierge services are essential, while exclusive lounges are as luxurious as the destination resorts you’ll soon be enjoying – expect the finest dining and drinking options, spa treatments and pre-flight massages.
Once you board your flight, with priority boarding, the first-class experience of each airline comes into its own. The luxury finishes of each seat, cabin or suite differ greatly and reflect the unique style of each airline. Comfy leather armchairs and full-size sleeping options – ranging from quick conversions to Emirates’ zero-gravity sleeping position inspired by NASA technology – come complete with the highest quality linens and designer pyjamas. Meanwhile, private showers on some airlines ensure you arrive refreshed.
In-flight dining is also taken to a whole new level, with carriers offering everything from traditional afternoon tea at 30,000ft to the finest produce and cooking skills from across the globe. The onboard
cellars are also home to a wide selection of global wines and Champagne.
You’ll also have access to far more in-flight entertainment – from 4K TVs with thousands of options and highend headphones to personalised skincare products.
For those who wish to take air travel to the highest levels of luxury, flying private is the only way to go.
The ultimate in flexible, individual and convenient travel, one of the biggest appeals of a private charter is the speed at which you can board and depart. The range of destination airports is also vast, with access to the most exclusive locations and resorts.
Inflight options, as you can imagine, are eclectic and fanciful. Amenities are unique to each aircraft and client. From personalised onboard scents and aromatherapy kits to pet pampering packages, any whim can be catered for. You can always expect a lot of space per passenger, even on the smallest planes, while multiple full-size bathrooms; Michelin Star-standard kitchens complete with teams of chefs; dedicated bedrooms with king-size beds; state-of-the-art technology for everything from music and television to gaming and conferencing; and a whole lot more are available. Simply imagine the possibilities when the rows upon rows of seating are replaced with all you could ever need while travelling around the globe.
THEY SAY THE JOURNEY IS OFTEN MORE IMPORTANT THAN THE DESTINATION AND WHEN IT COMES TO COMPLETE LUXURY, TAKING TO THE SKIES CAN BE AS LUXURIOUS AN EXPERIENCE AS THE WORLD’S FINEST DESTINATIONS
CULTURAL DESIGN WITH CELINE DA SILVA
There are few greater compliments than an interior designer choosing your brand for their own property, so we were delighted to learn Celine Da Silva has incorporated several Lusso pieces within her remodelled home. We caught up with Celine to learn more about the project, explore her style and inspirations, and share advice for anyone looking to carry out a renovation.
Q. HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR DESIGN STYLE?
I draw a lot of my inspiration from travelling, my heritage and from living in different countries. I’ve been fortunate to stay in lots of boutique styles of accommodation, especially when I lived in Southeast Asia. I’ve stayed in tiny but cosy wooden huts on stilts, beautifully designed hotels using local craftspeople and materials as well as quirky apartments. I love designing spaces that make me feel like I’m somewhere warm and tropical and this includes using warm colour palettes, natural materials and being brave with patterns. This was definitely my vision for the house renovation and especially our new loft conversion.
Q. CAN YOU GIVE US THE PROJECT’S BACKGROUND?
As we had worked on a complete renovation of the ground floor and
parts of the first floor the year before, we decided to go full steam ahead on the loft conversion. With a growing need to have retired family members spending more time with us, we decided to create a space that felt like part of the house, yet also be a little haven away from it all. We have beautiful views from this new floor and I really wanted to take the opportunity to decide on the placement of all of the internal walls myself, and part of that included wanting to have a larger bathroom compared to what we have on the first floor. This is why I decided to create a little nook for the sink and vanity unit, allowing for a clear walkway into the room and the walk-in shower. The toilet is neatly tucked out of view when you walk into the space, so the focus is on the shower when you enter the room, and the next thing you see to your left is our striking Lusso marble sink and matte black tap.
Q. WHAT ATTRACTED YOU TO LUSSO PRODUCTS?
As an interior designer, I had initially used Lusso products in some of my clients’ bathroom projects. Seeing and interacting with the quality of the products in these spaces helped me decide that I wanted to use these beautiful products in my own home. Our plumbers even commented on how impressed they were with the

quality! I love the fact that there is such a varied range of products at Lusso and that they all work well together. For our loft bathroom shower, I wanted the handheld shower to be fixed to an adjustable rail and the Lusso customer service team was really helpful in supplying me with a separate rail from another one of their shower products to help me achieve this.
Q. WHICH IS YOUR FAVOURITE LUSSO PRODUCT?
The basins! We have two in the house - a Panda marble basin on the first floor and a Carrara marble basin in the loft bathroom. They are my favourite standout pieces in both. The basins feel luxurious, and generously sized, yet durable - the perfect combination.
Q. HOW WAS YOUR EXPERIENCE OF LUSSO’S DELIVERIES AND CUSTOMER SERVICE?
We had a great experience. The customer service team kept me
well-informed about which products were in stock and which had a longer lead time. Everything was delivered efficiently. During the build, the flush plate for our rimless wall-hung toilet went missing amongst the chaos of the build but Lusso’s customer service team managed to get a new one out to me in a matter of days. I was worried I’d have to wait a lot longer, so this really gave me peace of mind during a stressful time!
Q. WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE TO ANYONE RENOVATING THEIR HOME?
Plan, plan, and plan some more. It will really pay to be as prepared as possible

so that you’re not rushing decisions or making them under pressure on the spot. Rushed decisions will always be the ones you’ll regret. To avoid this, it’s important to have constant communication with your contractors. Ask them when items such as tiles and your bathroom suite need to be delivered, so everything is ready to go. You can only do as much as you can - most people are juggling various other commitments while renovating so be kind to yourself. Renovating is a stressful process but remember there is light at the end of the tunnel. If you’re changing the layout of your space and you have the time, try your best to sketch a rough floor plan with as many annotations as possible before the builder starts, even if it’s really basic. If you’re struggling, ask an interior designer for some help.
Q. WHAT IS THE MOST IMPORTANT FACTOR WHEN IT COMES TO INTERIOR DESIGN?
It’s important to test things out as much as possible to make sure your ideas work in the way you want them to. If part of your renovation includes space planning, try mapping it out using masking tape. This is especially effective if you’re working with a tight space like a bathroom, where it’s useful to walk around and make sure you have enough room in front of items such as the toilet. If you’re at the stage where you’re choosing paint colours and fabrics, get as many samples as you can and keep them in the relevant rooms. Lots of paint companies offer peelable paint samples now and those are great to see how the light changes in your rooms throughout the day. For our bathrooms, I left tile and paint samples in the rooms for the duration of the build so I was always mindful of how everything looked at all times of the day. This really helped nail down my final decisions.

ENDURING MODERNITY
Inspired by the iconic Art Deco movement, our traditional collection of furniture, fixtures and fittings continues to expand, enabling you to add a touch of 1920s decadence to your home.
Key pieces of the range include elegant cast iron baths with a classic enamel coating, as well as floorstanding and wall mounted vanity units that
provide convenient storage and clever concealment. Handcrafted from high quality, sustainably sourced wood and coupled with marble basins, the vanity units are fitted with drawer and hinge mechanisms engineered by the specialist German brand, Hettich, to ensure beautifully smooth push open and soft close functionality.
TRADITIONAL TAPS
For the perfect finishing touches to your bathroom, the range also offers traditional brassware, including polished nickel taps and shower fittings that echo the geometric forms of the Art Deco age.
More recently we’ve incorporated our first kitchen taps into the collection, designed with long, elegant necks in polished nickel, aged bronze and brushed gold finishes. Expertly crafted with high-grade components
- including Swiss Neoperl aerators and Citec cartridges - the Lambeth, Celeste, and Grantley kitchen taps also feature swivel spouts, hot and cold levers, and silhouettes that mirror the modernity and machinery influences of the era.
The range also includes our Asbury 4-Hole Kitchen Tap which comes with a separate sink hose, as well as a traditional take on our Filtrata 4-in-1 Boiling Water Tap.

British-born David Gandy is one of the world’s most recognised supermodels, but his life goes far beyond the camera. The face of Dolce & Gabbana is also a dedicated family man, successful entrepreneur, lover of luxury cars, and an avid home renovator. As a highly valued Lusso client, we were delighted to talk with David about his latest project - the two year long renovation of his family home, which he carried out with his wife Stephanie.
Overlooking London’s Richmond Park, the listed property is David’s biggest project to date. Built in 1927 for an American film director, it replicates the build and structure of a home in Monte Carlo, bringing a taste of the Mediterranean to the affluent London borough. After purchasing the property and securing permission to transform it into a forever family home,
the renovation was finally completed in December 2022. Lusso’s fixtures and fittings can be found across its beautiful bathrooms, including the Vasca freestanding bath and opulent basins from our highly sought after stone and marble ranges.
Q. WHAT IS YOUR INTERIOR DESIGN STYLE?
I will always choose classical or historical design over new build or contemporary. For houses and interiors, I am sympathetic to the architectural style of the era when the house was built. I follow the same rules with restoring cars. I adore the history and stories that make that particular item, whether that is a classic car or a vintage watch. The house was described by an architect as an architectural mongrel, which doesn’t sound

particularly complimentary, but it describes it perfectly as the original designer was clearly inspired by so many eras of design. I felt we were not restricted and could really put our mark on the house and make it our own.
Q. WHAT’S THE MOST IMPORTANT ASPECT OF HOME DESIGN FOR YOU?
The flow of the house is always important. I don’t like to waste space in houses, I feel every part should be utilised. I’ve always loved the simplicity of Georgian design. Simplicity and symmetry play a big part in my interior design. I will always want a home to be
inviting, warm and cosy - never clinical and cold. A lot can be achieved with textures and composition rather than bold and bright colours.
Q. WHAT ENCOURAGED YOU TO CARRY OUT THE MAJOR REDEVELOPMENT?
It’s a building of town merit, so has historical significance to the Richmond area. I used to walk past it with my dog every morning and was thoroughly intrigued by its architecture. It’s also very rare as it has views of Richmond Park, is on a plot of 0.45 acres with garaging, and is within 25 minutes of central London. Even though I loved the design, I could see the potential of how beautiful it could be when renovated and modernised.
Q. YOU’VE OPTED FOR THE LUSSO VASCA BATH, ARABESCATO MARBLE VANITY UNIT AND GOLD FITTINGSHOW DO THEY TIE IN WITH YOUR DESIGN VISION?
My wife is Greek; she loves marble, gold and Greek influences. I wanted to design her a dream master en-suite. She fell in love with the Arabescato basin, so I based the design around it. I found a porcelain tile with the same marbling and colours, and cut them large enough so I could book match them. I knew I wanted the stunning Vasca bath as soon as I began researching for this project. It’s a classical, but contemporary, clean stone design. The design was then complemented by the Lusso brushed gold floorstanding bath taps, basin taps and showers.
Q. WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE PRODUCT FROM LUSSO?
It’s very difficult, but considering that the Arabescato basins are so individual and so rare within the UK market, I would say it would be this piece.
THE COLLECTION IS BRILLIANTLY CURATED, MAKING CHOOSING A FULL DESIGN VERY EASY. I ALSO LOVE SUPPORTING SUCH A BRILLIANT BRITISH BRAND
Q. WHAT HAVE BEEN THE MOST CHALLENGING ASPECTS OF THE RENOVATION?
There will always be complications and hurdles, but I love seeing a beautiful but tired house come back to life. Re-establishing the grandeur of the property was our main aim, as there is such history here, and we hope it will be around another 100 years and more.
Q. THIS IS YOUR THIRD MAJOR PROPERTY PROJECT - DO YOU HAVE ANY ADVICE FOR RENOVATING A HOME?
Finding a good builder, one you can fully trust and rely on, is the most important part. Richard Sadler from Onyx London renovated my house in Fulham, so there was no one else I would have chosen. Onyx are unique as they combine Richard’s decades of experience with architecture and the interior design expertise of Elizabeth, his business partner. They also fully supported us with the difficulties of planning and worked with me closely throughout the whole process.
Q. DO YOU HAVE ANY OTHER RENOVATIONS LINED UP?
After finishing a renovation, I always need a little break and to be honest it will take many years to get the house exactly how I want it. The next renovation will be a classic car project, and we are already in the design stage.
Q. HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE THE LEVEL OF SERVICE YOU RECEIVED FROM LUSSO?
Good customer service is a rarity today. The service from Lusso was exemplary, with incredible knowledge and communication on deliveries and availability. The collection is brilliantly curated, making choosing a full design very easy. I also love supporting such a brilliant British brand.

OUT WITH THE KETTLE, IN WITH THE FILTRATA
EFFICIENT, ENERGY-SAVING AND A STUNNING ADDITION TO ANY KITCHENEXPLORING THE LUSSO FILTRATA 4-IN-1 BOILING WATER TAP
4-IN-1 TECHNOLOGY
Instantly providing boiling, filtered, hot and cold water at the push of a button, the Filtrata negates the need for a kettle, making it a popular option within both residential and commercial spaces.
Expertly engineered with a 360-degree swivel spout and two levers to separate its functions, it also ensures complete safety and ease of use, which is particularly advantageous for households with children.
To reduce consumption, the tap design also provides the right amount of hot water as and when it’s needed, whereas the average household which is reliant on a kettle is likely to boil four times the amount of water required with each use.
CLUTTER-FREE CONVENIENCE
As well as helping to save water and energy, the Filtrata can elevate the aesthetic of a kitchen by freeing up valuable countertop space that would otherwise be needed to store a kettle.
To beautifully complement both contemporary and traditional settings, the 4-in-1 tap is available in a range of styles, as well as brushed nickel, chrome, polished nickel, brushed gold, and matte black finishes. For added convenience, we’ve also recently expanded the collection with the launch of our latest Filtrata design - the Filtro - which features an extendable pull out hose for easier, more accessible cleaning.
A COMPLICATION BEYOND COMPARE
AUDEMARS PIQUET LAUNCHES ITS MOST COMPLICATED WATCH EVERTHE CODE 11.59 UNIVERSELLE RD#4
Pushing the boundaries of watch design further than ever before, Audemars
Piquet has unveiled the Code 11.59 Universelle RD#4, featuring a total of 23 complications.
The Code 11.59 collection broke all the rules when it was first launched in 2019, revolutionising overnight rather than evolving slowly. Four years on, it has matured and for 2023 comes the Universelle RD#4 – its name derived from standing on the cusp of a new day.
The watchmaker call this its “very first ultra-complicated selfwinding wristwatch” incorporating 40 functions, 23 complications, 1,155 components, and 17 special technical devices which the brand believe will pave the way for a new generation of R&D movements.
The Univeselle has it all, as the name suggests - a Grande Sonnerie
Supersonnerie, a minute repeater, a perpetual calendar, a splitseconds flyback chronograph and a flying tourbillon among its offerings. Bringing together more than seven years of work, RD#4 incorporates the previous three Audemars Piquet R&D innovations – the Supersonnerie from RD#1, the ultra-thin perpetual calendar from RD#2, and the flying tourbillon from RD#3.
There are six push pieces in total, which control every function of the watch without the need for tools.
The case’s thin bezel and octagonal midcase are inspired by the legendary Royal Oak. At 42mm wide and 15.55mm deep, it remains an elegant design while packing in functions.
Having set out to revolutionise rather than evolve, it appears that within just four years, Code 11.59 has reached the top of the food chain.

Q. WHAT INSPIRED YOUR HOME’S AESTHETIC?
I’ve always loved Scandinavian design, so when it came to building our home, it was the natural way to go. I think I have a very similar ethos to the Scandinavian way of living. I like to think of it in three main points - plain, simple and useful - and by keeping this in mind I’ve been able to create a home that feels like my version of Scandi.
Q. WHICH LUSSO PIECES DID YOU CHOOSE FOR YOUR BATHROOM SPACES?
Lusso has such a wonderful range of products that use natural materials like stone and marble, which were a perfect fit for our bathroom designs. We chose the Picasso range and included the basin and bath in our ensuite, together with the beautiful Edge Wall Hung Vanity Drawer Unit. These made the perfect partner with the brushed brass fittings and the warm woods of the panelling, as we wanted a calm and natural spa-like vibe, somewhere to escape the stresses of the day, and the whole scheme
works beautifully together. The main bathroom is one of my favourite spaces in the house and I love nothing better than to run a bath, lie back, and relax.
Q. WHAT ARE YOUR FAVOURITE ELEMENTS OF YOUR HOME’S OVERALL LOOK AND FEEL?
Our home’s exterior is Scandinavianinspired, and by using burnt larch as cladding, it’s very much in the style of Scandi homes. It felt natural to continue this theme through to the interiors. With a neutral colour palette and natural textures, we’ve created a home which evokes a feeling of calm and contentment.
Q. DID OUR SERVICE MEET YOUR EXPECTATIONS?
Ordering from Lusso online was easy and straightforward, with good communication and regular updates on my order. It was important that we used quality products and fittings in our home and we are very happy that we were able to use Lusso products.

STATEMENT SURFACES
Used throughout architecture and design for thousands of years, pure marble has become synonymous with luxury living, making it a natural choice for the Lusso tile collection.
Adding texture, colour and pattern to your interior spaces while also protecting walls and floors, our range features fluted and mosaic styles to create statement surfaces, and each tile is expertly cut to deliver a flawless finish.
CALACATTA
Highly coveted by artists, designers and homeowners for its rarity and beauty, Italian Calacatta marble is exclusively sourced from the quarries of the Apuan Mountains in Carrarathe marble capital of the world. This elegant marble’s warm ivory base, crisp grey veining and soft golden hues are perfectly showcased by our Riviera Calacatta Tiles, which are finished with linear brass detailing.
TUNISIAN GREY
Used to create our elegant Alessia Marble Mosaic Wall Tiles, Tunisian Grey marble features subtle swirls and dappled patterns in varied tones of soft grey. Sourced from North Africa,
the unique marble can be found within the interior of striking buildings across the world, including the Palace of Peace and Reconciliation in Astana, designed by renowned British architect Sir Norman Foster.
CARRARA
Prized by the Roman Empire, Carrara marble has been regarded as one of the finest marbles for millennia, and its natural beauty is showcased by many of the world’s most notable structures and sculptures, from the mighty Pantheon to Michelangelo’s David. Quarried from its namesake town in Tuscany, Carrara features a pure white base with soft grey veining, and is used throughout many of our designs, including the Tuscano Fluted Wall Tiles and Capella Marble Mosaic Tiles.
NERO MARQUINA
The latest addition to our marble collection, Nero Marquina is a deep black limestone extracted from the Basque Country in northern Spain. Renowned for its rich colour and fine white veining, the marble is one of the most sought after natural stones found within Europe, and contrasts beautifully with Carrara to create the striking monochrome pattern of our Palazzo Chevron Tiles.

Q. WHAT IS LUSSO’S SIGNATURE AESTHETIC?
Although the styles vary between each of our ranges, every collection is unified by our signature aesthetic of understated elegance. For Lusso, that means contemporary, confident shapes with sweeping curves, strong lines, with a modern palette of natural tones and metallic finishes.
Q. HOW MUCH IMPORTANCE DO YOU PLACE ON QUALITY?
Quality is everything and it completely defines an experience. You can have the best-looking item on the market, but if it doesn’t feel good and function correctly, it completely degrades an experience. Functionality and appearance must work hand in hand, it’s integral to any business. I firmly believe that if you buy cheap, you buy twice, which is why I place quality ahead of everything, it’s the root of all designer brands.
Q. HOW DID YOU GET INVOLVED IN PRODUCT DESIGN?
I was a property developer for over two decades, and during that time it was challenging to source luxury bathroom ranges without compromising on quality, settling for basic designs, or completely blowing the budget. I knew exactly what I was looking for in terms of style and finish, so after a lot of planning and research, I created Lusso. Designing and developing my first line of freestanding baths and basins was a steep learning curve, but with the support of a fantastic team, I’m incredibly proud of the results and the company we’ve grown.
LIVES,
Q. WHO OR WHAT ARE YOUR DESIGN INSPIRATIONS?
Along with the timeless elegance of heritage brands such as Patek Phillipe and RollsRoyce, I admire the work of contemporary designer Phillipe Starck and the stunning interiors created by Peter Marino for fashion houses including Chanel, Louis Vuitton and Fendi. I’m also influenced by luxury property developments across the world, and like to find inspiration in my own experiencesfrom staying in an elegant hotel to driving a beautiful car.
Q. WHAT DOES THE PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT PROCESS LOOK LIKE AT LUSSO?
I oversee the aesthetic, finish and ingenuity of all of our ranges, and work to develop product concepts that are efficient, innovative, durable and true to our signature style. We also carry out extensive research and prototype testing to ensure every product maintains an exceptionally high standard of quality and longevity. I often start with a specific design challenge that I know homeowners, hoteliers or developers are looking to resolve and work from there.
Q. WHY IS REMAINING INVOLVED IN THE PROCESS IMPORTANT?
Lusso has grown rapidly in nine years. As a result, I could easily take a step back from design and development, however, I find it really rewarding. Building the brand has been an amazing journey and one of the aspects I enjoy most is seeing design concepts come to life.

Q. WHERE DO YOU FIND INSPIRATION?
Our in-house Interiors by Jacksonheim team work closely with our clients on all design elements, initially to gauge whether they have a particular idea in mind. If they want to be involved in the design process, the project can be client-led. Our designers will help to collate their ideas to create a functional design concept, and we also use platforms such as Pinterest as a first port of call, creating vision boards with trends and concepts. If our clients don’t have any ideas or preferences, we produce concepts internally that fit the spaces well. We tend to lean towards designs inspired by places. From these destinations, we will begin to research aspects such as architecture, traditional interior design, and commonly used materials. We absolutely love to travel and from our experiences we take inspiration from all around the world. Sometimes, one of us will return from a holiday
with fresh ideas. For example, Corin recently came back from a trip to Santorini, so you can probably guess the concept for our next apartment.
Q. WHAT’S THE MOST IMPORTANT FACTOR WHEN DESIGNING AN APARTHOTEL?
While beauty and creativity are at the forefront of all that we do, we always maintain a high standard of materials. We ensure all the suppliers we work with provide hard-wearing, longlasting products or materials as the products we use must stand the test of time. From a visual aspect, they need to look a certain way, however, this is rendered useless if the product is going to crumble after a few uses.
Q. HOW DO YOU BALANCE FUNCTION AND FORM?
Given the nature of our company, our apartments receive a high turnover of guests every week, so over time, and
from many lessons learned, we now understand what is appropriate and what is necessary. We’ve also developed our supplier list to a group of companies we trust. Our philosophy is - you can create the most beautifully designed apartments but if they’re not fit for purpose, they are not true interior design.
Q. WHY DID YOU CHOOSE TO USE LUSSO PRODUCTS?
Lusso products are durable yet beautiful in design, and they help us to create breathtaking spaces while

maintaining our need for durability with high-quality finishes. Lusso also has a wide variety of products already available, with frequent updates for new additions.
Q. WHICH IS YOUR FAVOURITE LUSSO PRODUCT?
It would be so difficult for us to choose our favourite Lusso product, given that we use a vast range of items throughout our portfolio. If we had to choose the current front runner, it would be the Monaco Grigio Earth Freestanding Stone Bath, which you can find in our Midnight Boutique. Not only do we love this bath at Interiors by Jacksonheim, but we are constantly receiving positive feedback from guests on how much they adore the design. According to one of our recent guests, they didn’t want to get out of the tub! We also love the Picasso Countertop Stone Basin, as well as the Edge Wall Hung Vanity Drawer Unit, which are both featured in our Japandi Boutique. The basin in particular is a favourite of ours for a number of reasons, as it’s easy to clean, hasn’t been damaged or stained since we installed it, and looks amazing.

Ahomage to the power and beauty of luxury sports cars, we’re pleased to announce the launch of the Vivere - the world’s first freestanding bath tub crafted from forged carbon fibre.
The incredibly strong yet lightweight material is synonymous with some of the fastest and most striking vehicles ever created, and delivers a unique aesthetic with dramatic impact.
Designed with the same silhouette as the Picasso, our first freestanding bath, the Vivere combines the comfort and generous depth of the classic shape with the distinctive look and feel of the forged material. Made from a composite of carbon fibres that are tightly compressed, the result is a perfectly smooth finish and dappled monochrome pattern that’s entirely unique from one piece to the next.
With its symmetrical curves and dramatic design, the Vivere was inspired by the
Veyron Vivere Final Diamond Edition by Moti - a specially modified version of the legendary Bugatti Veyron. Created by Mansory in Germany, the customised supercar was unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show in 2018, and with its incredible forged carbon fibre bodywork, remains one of a kind.
As well as stunning good looks, the specialist carbon material also offers lasting robustness, which means the Vivere also comes with a lifetime guarantee, ensuring it will make a strong statement in the most luxurious bathrooms for many years to come.

HEIRESS APPARENT
Heiress apparent to the LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton empire of luxury brands - currently headed by her father, Bernard Arnault, the company’s founder and the world’s richest man - Delphine Arnault became one of the most powerful and influential people in the fashion world in 2023 as she took over Christian Dior.
Having started her career with designer John Galliano’s company, she has held multiple roles at LVMH since 2000. She took charge of all product-related activities for Louis Vuitton, LVMH’s biggest brand, in 2013. In 2019, aged 43, she became the youngest member - and second woman - on the LVMH executive committee.
On being elevated to the Dior role in January 2023, seen by business commentators as part of a succession plan within LVMH, her father said: “Under her leadership, the desirability of Louis Vuitton products advanced significantly, enabling the brand to regularly set new sales records. Her keen insights and incomparable experience will be decisive assets in driving the ongoing development of Christian Dior.”
Along with her four younger brothers, all of whom hold influential positions in LVMH - which was valued at £345billion in early 2023, the motherof-two is widely respected for her management style, which she described in an interview with The Financial Times as: “quite calm,” adding: “I’m very competitive. At everything. I like competition, it’s fun.”
She also has a wide experience with LVMH and in several other board roles, notably a
non-executive role at Ferrari - though fashion is her primary focus, as she told W magazine: “I’m lucky that it’s about fashion and perfume and cosmetics. If my father had owned a tire company, I don’t know what I would have done.”
She is low-key about her private life - saying that she tries her best to balance her career with motherhood - and it is the business world which shines the brightest spotlight on Delphine.
Assumed by many as the heir to her father, she has discussed the great opportunity afforded to her, while ensuring she continues to upload the entrepreneurship which LVMH was founded on.
She has also discussed improving the representation of women in key positions, setting the goal of reaching gender parity in top management positions by 2025 in an interview with EDHEC Business School: “Good leadership is genderless. Great leaders share a lot of the same traits - they have a strong strategic vision, great optimism, they are open-minded, forwardthinking, empathetic to their collaborators’ and customers’ needs. Gendering leadership is sterile. A better conversation is the push for gender equality in top management. And more broadly, for better diversity and representation in our teams. Not only is diversity a tremendous source of complementary skills and wealth, it drives creativity, innovation and performance.”
A calm and competitive leader at one of the most influential brands in the world, Delphine Arnault appears destined to inherit her father’s global empire and one day become the head of the one of the biggest companies on the planet.

PRESENTING THE PICASSO
EXPLORING THE INSPIRATION BEHIND OUR MOST POPULAR BATHTUB
While our collections continue to expand and evolve, the first bath we ever created remains to be a firm favourite with both residential and commercial clients. A statement piece found in beautiful homes across the world, the Picasso is also featured in many prestigious fivestar hotels and luxury destinations, including Claridge’s and The Connaught in London’s Mayfair, and the Gilpin Hotel in the Lake District. Here, we share the story of how the Picasso bath came to life, and the inspiration behind its now iconic design.
CONTEMPORARY ELEGANCE
Prior to founding Lusso, our CEO Wayne Spriggs gained considerable experience as a successful property developer, and during this time he found it near impossible to source high quality fixtures and fittings without astronomical price tags. To overcome this challenge and fill the evident market gap, Wayne set up Lusso in 2014 with a clear and singular aim - to provide attainable luxury homeware without compromising on design, quality or craftsmanship. As the hero piece of Lusso’s first
collection, the Picasso needed to fully encapsulate our brand mission, so we focused on the traditional shape of a Victorian freestanding bath - long held as a symbol of indulgent relaxation - and reframed it as a modern yet elegant design. The result is a flawless oval bath - immaculately symmetrical and minimalist, with generously deep curves for the ultimate bathing experience.
MADE FOR LIFE
From day one, we’ve been committed to creating collections that provide long lasting luxury, so it was crucial that we used a durable material to produce the Picasso. The more options we looked at, the more
determined we became to find a sustainable material that combines intrinsic strength with an opulent aesthetic, and eventually we discovered Durastone - a refined blend of powdered limestone cast with superior performance resin.
Made from responsibly quarried stone that’s carefully selected for its purity, the composite stone is of the highest quality, with no layers or points of weakness, which is why the Picasso - and every stone bath and basin that we’ve launched since - comes with a lifetime guarantee. Durastone is also exceptionally smooth and warm to the touch, and its soft, natural tone pairs perfectly with our choice of matte, polished, and dual finishes.
A FITTING EPONYM
We chose to name our first freestanding bath after one of the most influential and prolific artists of the 20th Century, Pablo Picasso, whose work is renowned for its bold stylisation.
The Spanish-born painter and sculptor co-founded Cubism - an art style that depicts people and objects without using traditional techniques such as linear perspective, and can be seen in Picasso’s many masterpieces including Les Demoiselles d’Avignon and the deeply evocative Guernica.
Later throughout his career, Picasso also produced a vast number of paintings and sketches drawn in a single unbroken line, and the confident strokes of this minimalist technique inspired the silhouettes of our very first collection.
THE PICASSO IS OUR MOST SOUGHTAFTER BATH AND A KEY MILESTONE
IN DEMAND DESIGN
The incredible success and popularity of our original Picasso design encouraged us to later expand the collection. Today it’s available in a wide range of sizes to suit varied bathroom spaces, and alongside the crisp and classic shade of white, it now also comes in a broader selection of muted colours including Pebble Grey, Grigio Earth, and Charcoal. To meet growing demand, we’ve also created a range of countertop basins that mirror the exemplary style of the Picasso, which continues to be our most soughtafter bath and an incredibly important milestone in our brand’s history.
ARCHITECTURE MEETS NATURE
Renowned for showcasing incredible renovation projects, Channel 4’s Grand Designs series has featured countless property transformations, however few are as memorable as Chichester House. Redeveloped by Daniel and Nina Rowlandthe creative couple behind the Studio Fuse design practice - the once dilapidated 1930s building has been reimagined as an awardwinning eco home, complete with a natural, biophilic design.
Built on an 1.5 acre plot within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the property features floating balconies, Siberian larch cladding, and an incredible natural swimming pool transformed from a stagnant pond. It also includes a stunning interior which showcases a number of pieces from our bathroom collections, so we talked with the talented Rowlands to find out more about the beautiful waterside home and why they chose Lusso.
Q. WHERE DID YOU DRAW INSPIRATION FROM WHEN
DESIGNING YOUR HOME?
Before we had kids, we spent lots of time travelling. We loved the beautiful surfing beaches in California and Australia, and we fell in love with the lush rainforests and ramshackle beach cafés in Thailand. We had been to many holistic yoga retreats in various countries set in beautifully natural contexts, and forest spas set in tropical landscapes with boulder waterfalls and plunge pools set within them.
Q. THE NATURAL SWIMMING POND IS A PERFECT BLEND OF SERENITY AND NATURE - WAS IT ALWAYS A PART OF THE PLAN?
We momentarily contemplated floating our house over the existing pond, but quickly dismissed the idea, because its water often stagnated and went very green from the algal blooms during certain periods of the year. After all, who wants to look over water that closely resembles pea soup? Due to the stagnation and the resulting toxicity levels in the water, we would
never be able to swim in it either, which would be such a shame. We are totally over the moon that we instead converted it into the natural swimming pond, as it has become a key and integral part of the design of the entire scheme. It is something we enjoy literally every day, by simply gazing out at it from any area of the house, or by swimming in it each morning. It’s the best way to start the day!
Q. WHAT ATTRACTED YOU TO LUSSO, AND WHICH PRODUCT IS YOUR FAVOURITE?
We found Lusso products online and adored the sharp, unfussy contemporary lines of the pieces. We loved the fact that they are used in luxury boutique hotels but are still very affordable. The composite stone has
the most stunning matte white finish and the ergonomics of the designs are so well thought through. We bought the baths in lockdown at a point when people were unable to visit any showrooms or shops and we were utterly delighted when we received them and discovered they were the comfiest baths we had ever tried. They completely envelope you and we can fit our entire family of four in one bath!
Q. HOW WAS YOUR EXPERIENCE DEALING WITH DELIVERIES AND CUSTOMER SERVICE FROM LUSSO?
Our contact at Lusso was incredibly helpful and efficient. Nothing was a problem for him and he remained positive and upbeat throughout. If there were any minor delays due to
Covid, we were regularly updated. We would highly recommend Lusso as a company, and have done so already.
Q. HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE THE PROJECT? WAS IT EVERYTHING YOU EXPECTED IT TO BE?
After spending many gruelling years living in the dilapidated house that came with the plot, the contrast now that we have moved into the new house couldn’t be more extreme. This house and the context it is set in feels healthy, holistic and incredibly rejuvenating. We are immensely grateful to be able to live here every day and witness the beautifully symbiotic relationship between architecture, nature and the environment.
“WHEN WATER AND ARCHITECTURE ARE INTRODUCED, THEY DANCE. THE WATER TAKES SUNLIGHT AND OFFERS IT SHIMMERINGLY TO THE BUILDING WITH SCINTILLATING, SPARKLING PATTERNS. IT’S A THING TO BEHOLD”
Kevin McCloud, Grand Designs
RITUAL RELAXATION
Acontemporary take on ancient bathing rituals, our Zen Freestanding Japanese Soaking Bath is designed to cleanse both the body and mind. Introduced to the Lusso collection in 2022, the stunning shape and generous depth of this on-trend piece not only creates a captivating focal point within any bathroom space, it can also provide a number of health benefits.
OFURO INSPIRED
The captivating design of our Zen bath is largely influenced by Japanese ofuros - traditional soaking tubs that have been enjoyed in the East for centuries. Its distinctive shape reflects Japan’s strong cultural connection to bathing, where it’s common to take a daily bath rather than a shower, with a much stronger focus on ritual and rejuvenation.
Although historically made using aromatic cypress wood, which is native to central Japan, today ofuros are more likely to be produced using stone, plastic or stainless steel, and can still be found in homes, hotels, and traditional inns right across the country.
UNIQUE AESTHETIC
With its steep sides, compact symmetry, and a smooth internal seat, our Zen Freestanding Japanese Soaking Bath enables you to comfortably submerge yourself - up to chest height - to slowly unwind and recharge.
Hand-finished to the highest standard, the bath is also built to last as it’s expertly crafted from Durastone - a blend of pure powdered limestone and commercialgrade resin. Used throughout our stone collection, the durable material has a natural white finish, smooth feel, and offers incredible strength and longevity, allowing us to offer a lifetime guarantee for every bath and basin across the range. In addition, the Zen bath is provided with a matching stone step as the perfect accessory to enable easy access.
RESTORATIVE QUALITIES
As well as its striking look, an indulgent soaking bath can enhance health and wellbeing in several ways. Its intentionally tall shape reduces the water surface area, enabling it to stay warmer for longer to relax tightened muscles and relieve the stresses of modern life. The upright design also means that a soaking bath can only be used in a seated position - rather than lying - which can support better posture. Additionally, it’s believed that by raising the body temperature, soaking baths can improve blood circulation, promote better sleep, reduce headaches, and even offer cardiovascular benefits.
Many people also simply enjoy the calming, therapeutic effect of being almost entirely immersed in soothing hot water. Teamed up with spa-grade toiletries and linens such as our luxuriously soft towels and robes made from 100% pure Egyptian cotton, the result is the ultimate relaxation experience in your own home.
THE MOST WITH THE LEAST
BACK USE OF COLOUR,
IS ONE OF
WIDELY KNOWN - AND
MISUNDERSTOOD - ART MOVEMENTS. HERE WE EXPLORE THE HISTORY AND THEORY BEHIND THE STYLE, AND LOOK AT HOW IT HAS EVOLVED INTO A MAINSTAY AESTHETIC ACROSS INTERIOR DESIGN AND HOMEWARES
RADICAL ORIGINS
While reductionism in art and design dates back much earlier, Minimalism as a movement first emerged in the US during the late 1950s in response to Abstract Expressionism and Modernism.
Inspired by the distilled aesthetic of German Bauhaus, Russian Constructivism, and Dutch Neoplasticism, the style was championed throughout the 60s and 70s by artists such as Donald Judd, Agnes Martin and Frank Stella who first uttered the now iconic Minimalism mantra - “What you see
is what you see”. This statement encapsulates the original intention of minimalist art, which aimed to encourage viewers to respond to what’s actually in front of them, rather than a representation of something else.
Although envisioned as a radical rejection of everything but the most basic visual elements, during the 1980s the starkness of Minimalism softened into a more accessible style, and by the following decade it became a guiding principle across homes, branding, fashion and furniture.
MORE THAN MERELY A SCRAPED
SHAPES AND MATERIALS, MINIMALISM
THE WORLD’S MOST
COMMONLY
CLEAN AND REFINED
True to its roots, contemporary minimalism aims to achieve the most with the least, however rather than brutal simplicity, today’s interpretation of the style is a pared down aesthetic that eschews superfluous ornamentation. A celebration of geometric forms, sleek symmetry, clean lines, structural repetition and unadorned materials, minimalism has also come to mean a focus on quality. By its very nature, attention to detail is a key component of the aesthetic, as fewer patterns and embellishments mean there’s no place to hide poor craftsmanship.
In terms of colours, monochrome and neutral palettes with subtle shade variances are most commonly used, however in keeping with the current wave of softer minimalism, this isn’t restricted to grey, white, black and beige. A much broader range of colours can be used in muted tones - such as dusty pink, buttery yellow, and jade green - to create visual interest and add warmth.
ICONIC ARCHITECTURE
Closely linked with modernist architecture, the minimalist style is perfectly illustrated by a wide number of buildings across the globe, including many by Ludwig Mies Van der Rohe. Regarded as one of the greatest architects of the 20th Century, his work is often cited as a precursor for popularised minimalism, and includes striking structures such as the National Gallery in Berlin, Farnsworth House and Crown Hall in Illinois, and the Pavilion in Barcelona.
Other distinctive examples of minimalist architecture include St. Moritz Church in Augsburg which was remodelled by British architect John Pawson, the Chichu Art Museum in Naoshima which was created by Japanese visionary Tadao Ando, and The Therme Vals resort in the Swiss Alps, designed by Swiss architect Peter Zumthor.
Although each building is entirely unique, they all showcase many of the traits that are synonymous with minimalism - impressive open spaces, natural light, raw materials, repeated shapes, perfect symmetry, purposeful design and bold simplicity.
ENDLESS INSPIRATION
While minimalism has touched almost every creative sector, its lasting and significant impact on interior design can be seen within countless commercial and residential spaces around the world, particularly across Japan and the Nordic countries. Long associated with cleanliness and order, minimalist interiors can sometimes be stark and sterile, however today’s interpretation of the look is much less rigid. Without losing its emphasis on function, utility and simple forms, modern minimalism tends to be softened with the addition of layered textiles, soft hues and subtle textures.
Perfect examples of this more relaxed approach can be found on every continent, including the pristine Hotel Schgaguler in Kastelruth, which is surrounded by the breathtaking Italian Dolomite mountains, the incredible Tulum Treehouse which is tucked away in the Mayan jungle, and the serene Dubai Edition hotel.
Minimalism is also hugely influential within furniture and homeware design, and serves as a constant inspiration for Lusso’s signature aesthetic of understated elegance. Alongside our commitment to flawless quality and exceptional craftsmanship, the design philosophy is reflected in our use of natural materials, meticulous craftsmanship, and the timeless, simplified beauty of our collections.
THE AMORE
Epitomising the chic sophistication of Italian design, the Lusso Amore makes a bold style statement in any luxury setting.
As our first freestanding bath to be crafted entirely from strong and durable resin, the seamless Amore is lighter than stone or marble, and has a unique translucent quality. The seductively shaped bath also comes in deep, rich tones of amber or smoked black.
ILLUMINATED INSPIRATION
Bringing together the playfulness of postmodernism with the timeless allure of smooth marble, our latest collection of baths and basins mirrors the silhouette of a traditional lamp.
Expertly carved from flawless Italian Carrara, Arabescato and Pietra Grey marble, each hand-finished piece features classical fluting to accentuate the design, and pairs perfectly with our Porto brassware.

WE DISCUSS UNDERSTATED ELEGANCE WITH AWARD-WINNING DESIGNER JANEY BUTLER
Janey Butler’s eponymous interior practice has become a wellestablished name within the British design industry.
The award-winning studio, much like Lusso, has a distinct style of understated elegance which it applies beautifully across the interiors of high-end luxury homes and commercial properties in the UK.
Janey talks exclusively with Lusso, revealing everything from how she approaches interior design and incorporates her signature style, to why she’s chosen our brand for many of her outstanding projects.
Q. HOW DO YOU DEFINE YOUR STYLE?
I would describe my key interior design style as elegant and contemporary, with a hint of rustic simplicity. In each project, we combine unique design elements which we believe create a relaxed, natural and timeless look that oozes style, design and quality.
Q. ARE YOU INFLUENCED BY SEASONAL DESIGN TRENDS?
Classing ourselves as timeless by definition means we don’t follow yearly trends, but this doesn’t mean we’re not constantly evolving, improving and looking at new artisans and suppliers to work with on our projects, and that’s why we travel widely every year to bring these to our new projects. Technology and sustainability are constantly evolving and developing, so this is a key area that our team is always following and implementing in our latest projects.

Q. WHAT WOULD YOUR IDEAL PROJECT LOOK LIKE?
which is invaluable if you really want to create something special.
Bottom
Either an existing country home to bring back to life or a modern interpretation of this which I also love creating. These often consist of outbuildings (existing or new) which we transform into wellness suites, with pools, gyms and spas, and large gardens or grounds where we integrate our designs to create an exceptional country home estate.
Q. WHAT’S THE MOST IMPORTANT ADVICE WHEN RENOVATING A HOME?
Employ the best architect and principal designer that best suits your style as early as possible. After 25 years, we’re still learning and it’s this experience
Q. WHERE DO YOU SOURCE YOUR INSPIRATION?
Travelling and nature. My husband and I travel across the UK and abroad frequently, and we heavily research every location, and restaurants even, so we can take in as much as possible from our travels. It’s often a small detail that we’ll notice and then expand the idea to suit a project and our style to make it unique.
Q. WHAT IS THE MOST IMPORTANT FACTOR IN INTERIOR DESIGN?
Viewing the project as a whole, so that the exterior architecture, landscaping
FUNCTIONALITY OF ANY ITEM, BE IT BATHS, TAPS, KITCHENS, FLOORING OR FURNITURE, IS THE PRIMARY CONSIDERATION AND FROM THIS WE CHOOSE AESTHETICALLY WHAT WORKS BEST FOR ANY GIVEN PROJECT
and period/type of house you’re working on works seamlessly as a whole. It is important to us that everything has to look natural, and as if it has always looked that way when completed, never forced.
Q. HOW DO YOU BALANCE FORM AND FUNCTION?
Functionality of any item, be it baths, taps, kitchens, flooring or furniture, is the primary consideration and from this we choose aesthetically what works best for any given project.
Q. TELL US WHY YOU’VE CHOSEN LUSSO FOR MULTIPLE PROJECTS?
Lusso’s elegant products sit naturally in our interiors and Lusso is a great company to work with.

A REFUGE FIT FOR KINGS
An iconic London landmark, Claridge’s in Mayfair is not only one of the most well known luxury hotels in the world, but also widely regarded as the very best. After opening its doors in the 19th Century, the five-star destination soon became a London institutionhosting royal receptions and countless A-list guests - thanks to its deep understanding of luxury. Along with its impeccable service, Claridge’s is also renowned for its Art Deco aesthetic and immaculate design features, fixtures and fittings, which includes our signature Picasso freestanding stone bath.
ILLUSTRIOUS HISTORY
Originally run as a small hotel in a single house in the early 1800s, founders William and Marianne Claridge quickly expanded the property with the addition of five adjoining buildings, leading to the official launch of Claridge’s in 1856. Later purchased by the owner of the
Savoy, the hotel was then rebuilt by British architect CW Stephens - best known for designing Harrods - and reopened in 1898 with a remarkable red-brick exterior that remains largely unchanged.
As testament to its unrivalled reputation and grand decor, over the last 150 years the hotel has become a haven for world leaders, movie stars, musicians and esteemed dignitaries. Notable patrons include Audrey Hepburn, Mick Jagger, Lady Gaga and Winston Churchill, and it even provided a palatial refuge for the Kings of Greece, Norway and Yugoslavia during the Second World War.
IMMACULATELY RESTORED
During the 1920s, its interior was further elevated with the addition of 80 additional rooms and a stunning ballroom which has since hosted many state banquets and prestigious events, including the Ruby Wedding
Anniversary of Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip. Originally designed by Art Deco pioneer, Oswald Milne, the English Heritage-listed space has more recently been restored to its former glory, and features many motifs from the jazz age along with a threetiered ceiling, dazzling chandeliers, and a private entrance adorned with gilded glass panels.
As well as a wine cellar and art space, the hotel also features a number of bars and restaurants including the elegant Foyer and Reading Room which guests are greeted with once they step through its famed revolving doors. Formerly Claridge’s library, the dining area is now the perfect setting for an indulgent afternoon tea, with crackling fireplaces, Art Deco mirrors, flawless marble flooring, and a ceiling-suspended light sculpture by Dale Chihuly.
SUMPTUOUS SUITES
Offering the quintessential luxury stay experience, every one of the hotel’s 190 rooms is furnished with sumptuous fabrics, regal fittings, and many boast original design features that have been carefully conserved throughout its rich history. Its most opulent spaces each have a distinct look and feel, including the Penthouse with its spectacular views of Mayfair, the incredibly spacious Mews Terrace, the palatial Royal Suite, and the Octagon Suite crafted by French interior designer Pierre Yves-Rochon.
Other high profile brands and creators that Claridge’s has collaborated with include British workshop Linley, which is responsible for the aesthetic of some of its most exclusive suites and the evocative Map Room. Belgian fashion designer Diane von
Furstenberg has also put her style stamp on the hotel on more than one occasion since becoming a patron in the 1970s, with the hotel’s Grand Piano Suite epitomising the couturier’s inimitable style.
REFINED RELAXATION
To ensure its residents can relax and unwind in refined surroundings, each Claridge’s room also comes complete with a beautifully appointed bathroom, including one that features our flawless Picasso freestanding bath. With its deep curves and timeless design, the Picasso is the ideal addition to such a legendary location, allowing guests to indulge in a long, hot soak during their stay.
Last year, the hotel also unveiled its first ever spa, which is best described as an epicentre of wellness. Created by interior designer Andre Fu, the 7,000sqft space invokes a strong sense of peace, tranquillity and Japanese spirituality, with an aesthetic that’s heavily influenced by the breathtaking temples and Zen gardens of Kyoto. Its swimming pool, steam room, sauna, treatment rooms and personal cabanas are set within a striking interior that creates a multisensory experience, featuring water fountains, oak panelling, limestoneclad columns, Damien Hurst artwork and Bonsai trees.
A celebration of lavish decor and enduring design, it’s hardly surprising that Claridge’s has earned and retained its international reputation for excellence, as it continues to set the gold standard for unadulterated luxury.
SETTING SAIL IN COMPLETE LUXURY
SETTING
With thousands of luxury yachts available for charter, while the world’s richest choose to design and build superyachts of their own, trying to decide on which features best suit your needs can be a little overwhelming.
From on-board pools to cinemas, spas and just about anything you could imagine, much like your view at sea, options for your luxury yacht experience appear limitless.
BEACH CLUB
The beach club, a deck on the rear of the yacht, is a versatile waterside space which is a key entertaining platform and so much more than a place to launch tenders. These can be spaces for anything from an open-air gym, spa treatments, yoga, outdoor dining and drinks, or – our personal favourite - a place to take in the night sky in the open air with the water just inches away. With the water so close - there’s also lots of opportunities to dive in.
SAIL IN YOUR OWN CHARTER IS ONE OF LIFE’S GREATEST LUXURIES. FROM THE MEDITERRANEAN TO THE CARIBBEAN, ACCESS TO SEA, SAND AND THE MOST BEAUTIFUL PLACES IS LIMITED ONLY BY YOUR IMAGINATION
CINEMA
Having spent a day in the water and sunshine, having a space to relax and watch your favourite movies is a real luxury. State-of-the-art projection, screens and sound technology is a must, while space to curl up or stretch out is important. A popcorn machine and cocktail bar complete the luxury experience.
UNDERWATER OBSERVATORY
An underwater, or Nemo, lounge with windows sitting below the water’s surface is a unique place to take in what goes on beneath the water after experiencing all the fun and excitement of getting out onto it.
HOT TUB
For many, it doesn’t get more luxurious than relaxing in a hot tub while surrounded by the open water with sandy beaches in the distance. Space for you and your guests to unwind, with further options of sunpads and deck chairs in the open air, is important as you soak up the sun or look up to the stars.
TAKE TO THE WATER
With so much water to enjoy, it’s essential to have some toys to make the most of it. From snorkelling and diving to paddleboarding, there are lots of options for slow-paced adventures, while the excitement of jetskis or AquaSkippers, which convert the power generated by your up-and-down motion to let you fly high above the water’s surface, make for fantastic fun on the water.
GYM
From smaller spaces with free weights and yoga mats to large, dedicated gyms fully kitted out with state-ofthe-art technology, spaces to exercise have become increasingly popular on yachts of all sizes. Equipment such as treadmills, ellipticals, stationary bikes or stair climbers can all be found onboard the largest yachts, while you may also want to bring along your personal trainer to ensure you stay on track while at sea. The chance to train with such spectacular views is hard to beat.
SPA
Double-down on the relaxation of your luxury yacht and dedicate space to spa treatments. Personalised therapeutic treatments and various massage techniques are perfect for soothing tired muscles and cleansing the body, and a full range of treatments and practices can be facilitated while at sea.
STRIKING EXTERIOR DESIGN
While white and teak are traditional, modern yachts take exterior design to a whole new level. Metallic greys and blues mimic the waves and catch the sunlight, while stand-out custom artwork ensures your yacht stands out in any marina. Family names and crests add a personal touch, while a vast range of leather, wood, stone, metalwork and Swarovski crystal interior and exterior features ensure you can create a yacht unique to you.
SPORT
Maybe you’d like to keep your golf game sharp with a tee box on deck, or how about a pickup game of basketball? Given the right space, a whole range of sporting endeavours are available on deck.
SWIMMING POOL
Swimming while on-board a yacht is a special experience, but what about an infinity pool backed by the ocean? Better yet, try a glass-bottomed pool with its own waterfall.
BATHROOMS
Lavishly appointed bathrooms are key to continuing the full luxury yacht experience. The finest stone is a great alternative to traditional wood finishes, with white marble a stunning choice to create a light, modern look. Glass is also key inside, while interior flourishes with nods to nautical themes continue the sailing theme. Showers are important for those who enjoy spending time in the water and while less common, freestanding baths give an unmistakable sense of luxury.

Q. HOW DO YOU TAILOR YOUR DESIGNS TO SPECIFIC CLIENT REQUIREMENTS?
We take architecture and design as inseparable disciplines. None of them can exist without each other and the interaction between these disciplines creates complete environments when they come together and form a single concept. We try to work with clients who accept our style and have common views, but at the same time, we always listen to the ideas and wishes of our clients.
Q. HOW DOES IT FEEL TO SEE YOUR CONCEPT DESIGNS BECOME REALITY?
We aim to create an exquisite interior that reflects the client’s
dreams for their home and evokes a feeling that’s appropriate to the space. We are filled with a sense of delight when we see how our idea takes shape and is realised in the material world. This inspires us a lot.
Q. WHAT HAS BEEN YOUR MOST REWARDING PROJECT SO FAR?
We really love a project we’ve been working on for a chain of confectionery stores in Odessa in Ukraine, and we’re currently designing the seventh location. We decided to experiment and try something new, and convinced the client to use really bright colours.
Q. CAN YOU TELL US HOW YOU CHOOSE THE IDEAL PRODUCTS FOR YOUR DESIGNS?
Your object must be out of time. We apply trends in decorative elements, which can be replaced at any time so that everything can look on trend again. We also use natural materials that are not tied to time. Lusso is perfect for our style and the products perfectly complement the modern classic interior. No other products fit this concept so perfectly.

TACTILE TEXTURES
CHOOSING THE FINISHES AND TEXTURES TO COMPLETE YOUR SPACE
Although one of the most important elements of interior design, texture can often be overlooked when styling homes and living areas. However, by layering textiles, fixtures and fittings with varied feels and finishes, you can dramatically enhance the visual interest of any space. Along with selecting the right colour palette and carefully considered lighting, well chosen pieces can add depth and dimension, create a more sensory experience, and elevate your interior aesthetic.
STATEMENT PIECES
To add visual weight and create a bold focal point, choose statement pieces with strongly defined textures, such as the Jadore Freestanding Stone Bath with its deep, classical ridges, or the striking Maddox Freestanding Stone Bath with its modern parallel grooves.
For a pared down approach, opt for pieces with elegant detailing as seen on our Couture vanity unit collection, which features sophisticated fluting across all cabinet doors. Alternatively, to incorporate texture as well as the unique pattern and feel of marble, the Perlato Countertop Basin is carved from smooth Arabescato or Carrara marble with deep, circular ridges, making it a timeless investment piece.
DECOR DETAILS
Interesting surfaces and textured walls are a key interior trend for 2023, which can be achieved with heavy wallpapers, specialist paint finishes, and luxe tiling.
For a handcrafted feel, the rough grain of travertine creates a clever contrast with smooth stone fixtures, beautifully exemplified by our Romano Fluted Mosaic Tiles.
For a smaller but still significant option, textured homewares can also build the depth of a space, such as the Bijoux Fluted Bin which is available in Pietra Grey, Carrara, or Arabescato marble.
FINISHING TOUCHES
Texture across hardware can offer both style and practicality, such as our Dali fluted collection which is finished with concave fluting for a timeless aesthetic and improved grip.
Launched as part of our traditional range, our Eton cabinet knobs feature an iconic beehive design of concentric rings for an elegant finish, whereas our knurled range reflects the interior detailing found in premium motorcars for a distinctive luxury aesthetic.

AN ICONIC 20TH CENTURY ART MOVEMENT THAT HAS REMAINED RELEVANT, ART DECO LED TO THE CREATION OF SOME OF THE WORLD’S MOST DISTINCTIVE BUILDINGS. FOCUSING ON ARCHITECTURE, HERE WE EXPLORE ITS CENTRAL MOTIFS AND CHARACTERISTICS, AND HIGHLIGHT SOME OF THE MOST RESPLENDENT HOMES, HOTELS AND COMMERCIAL STRUCTURES THAT EPITOMISE THE STREAMLINED STYLE
MODERNITY AND MACHINERY
A celebration of luxury and progress, Art Deco embraced the modern industrialism of the 1920s and 30s. As a result, aerodynamic curves, gleaming finishes and sleek futuristic shapes are all prominently featured throughout the interiors and exteriors of buildings from the era, along with stepped forms, heavily stylised patterns and geometric ornamentation. The movement’s affinity with progress also meant designers and architects favoured newly manufactured materials such as steel, chrome and aluminium alongside more traditional options including stucco, stone, terracotta and glass.
Art Deco pioneers were also largely inspired by the exciting discovery of Tutankhamun’s tomb in 1922, leading to the frequent use of Egyptian motifs
such as pyramids, scarab beetles, hieroglyphics, and gold accents across textiles, furnishings and architectural design details throughout the period.
HISTORICAL LANDMARKS
Although America’s first skyscraper dates back as far as 1885, demand for tall buildings soared in the roaring twenties, which is why Art Deco monuments such as the Chrysler Building and the Empire State Building dominate New York’s city skyline. Completed during the 1930s, both examples are often described as masterpieces of the age, featuring magnificently stepped exteriors and stunning interiors with preserved period features.
Many other Moderne Style buildings can be found across the Statesespecially within the Miami Art Deco District - however the US wasn’t
the only country to champion Art Deco architecture. Although the exterior of the Palacio de Bellas Artes in Mexico City is a blend of Neoclassical and Art Nouveau styles, its interior is decidedly deco, and features a breathtakingly beautiful stained glass stage curtain created by Tiffany’s. The Boerentoren in Antwerp - one of Europe’s very first tall buildings - also perfectly illustrates the style with its angular shape and decorative facade, as does London’s famed Hoover Building and its stone-clad Senate House, which provided visual inspiration for George Orwell’s cautionary novel, Nineteen Eighty-Four.
LUXURY DESTINATIONS
As an aesthetic synonymous with lavish design and luxe materials, Art Deco design notes can also be found within many of the world’s most opulent hotels, including Prince De Galles in Paris. Located in the capital’s Golden Triangle, the old-world hotel has been regarded as the jewel of the Parisian Art Deco movement since it opened its doors in 1929. Equally as extravagant, the Fairmont Peace Hotel in Shanghai was the very first Art Deco building to open in China during 1929, and its traditional beauty and grand featuresincluding a spectacular domed rotunda - have stood the test of time. New York’s Waldorf Astoria, often referred to as the city’s unofficial palace, is also recognised as a landmark thanks to its plush 1920s interiors, and in London’s Mayfair, Claridge’s continues to exude Gatsby-esque glamour both inside and out (see page 96).
COLLECTABLE PROPERTIES
Although hugely influential, the Art Deco movement was short-lived, which means only a small number of properties were built during the period. Typical examples include the Marine Villa on the Isle of Wight which has been lovingly restored to its former glory, and The Saltings - a Grade II-listed property in Hampshire. Although there are few concentrated clusters of buildings from the era, north-west London notably has more than its fair share with homes such as the White House in Hendon, a row of curvacious houses in Arnos Grove, and the prestigious Cholmeley Lodge apartments in Highgate village. While original properties may be few and far between, the style still inspires new projects and continues to be a major influence across art, architecture, fashion, furniture and interior design 100 years after its inception.
