Spring Fling Summary April 13, 2012 Spring Fling is an annual carnival-like event that is held in the spring of each year. This year’s spring fling event was held in conjunction with shows by the Flying High Circus, Paint-A-Pot, Breakfast for a Buck, films at the Askew Student Life Center, and cosmic bowling at Crenshaw Lanes just to name a few. The event was free to FSU students with a valid student ID. Students had access to free food, game booths where they could win prizes, and fair rides such as a Ferris wheel and carnival swings. Attendance: Attendance was calculated by tracking the amount of wristbands that were distributed to faculty, staff, students, and non-students (members of the community). The total amount of people that attended Spring Fling was 2,219. Survey Results: Of those students who attended Spring Fling 2012, 10% completed the survey. Demographics:

Spring Fling was filled with different carnival rides, food vendors, and other activities. Out of a variety of 154 valid written responses, the top three favorites of those surveyed were, food-related (41%), ride-related (21%), and games and activities related (17%). The main reason people attended was because they wanted to socialize with friends (27%). The majority of those surveyed (80%) plan on returning to Spring Fling next year. Spring Fling continues to be one of the most popular spring events coordinated by the Oglesby Union. Students and children under 12 were able to attend for free, and the general public paid $15 for entry. Based on survey responses and an event wrap-up meeting with Event Planners the top recommendations for next year include:  Increase involvement from student organizations  Began the selection of entertainment and promotion of events at an earlier time in the Spring semester  Provide a more diverse selection of entertainment to entertain a diverse crowd
