GRADUATE ASSISTANT, OGLESBY UNION STUDENT ACTIVITIES PROGRAMMING POSITION #3105 THE OGLESBY UNION The Oglesby Union is a diverse and engaging community that fosters individual and collective learning by providing outstanding services and opportunities for involvement. The Oglesby Union is comprised of the Art Center, Askew Student Life Center & Cinema, Flying High Circus, Guest Services, Fraternity & Sorority Life, and the Student Activities Center. For more information about the Oglesby Union please visit: http://union.fsu.edu/ THE POSITION The Student Activities Center Graduate Assistant (GA) for Programming is a position focused on program planning and development, advising students, budget management, risk management, collaboration with other University staff, and being a resource for students. Possible advising areas may include working with the Homecoming Council, Union Productions (student program board), and major events and activities. The role will also be involved with Student Activities and Oglesby Union programs, initiatives, and operations. Professional development opportunities are available locally, regionally, and nationally. The qualified GA candidate will enjoy working with a wide variety of students and student programs and be outgoing, positive, articulate, and flexible. Strong advising and organizational skills will be keys to success. RESPONSIBILITIES  Lead major Student Activities programs and events  Direct one on one advising with student leaders  Budget management  Event planning and day of show of execution  Student leadership development and retreat planning  Program development and assessment QUALIFICATIONS  Admitted in an FSU Graduate Program (Preferably Master’s in Higher Education Administration)  Ability to relate well to others, especially students and student groups  Experience in program and event planning, team building, budget and risk management  Ability to work independently as well as part of a team  Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing  Ability to receive and follow instructions and feedback related to assigned programs and activities  Available for 20 hours per week including office hours during business hours and programs on nights and weekends For more information regarding this position, please contact Lori Vaughn, Associate Director, Student Activities Center, Oglesby Union at lvaughn@fsu.edu or 850-644-0036.
